Charlie Kirk assassinated at an event in Utah (by a 22 YO groyper)

Why did we need DEI in the first place? Did Charlie Kirk have any profound thoughts on that?
And why does DEI make him suspicious... specifically of black people? He's still saying that these people got their position because of some racial quota he made up in his head. If anything the first part of his comment is what's taken out of context, not the latter part.

Is that literally not the point of it? Not trying to be an ass.

Why would there be a "white person's slot" but for systematic exclusion of non-whites from the spots in question?

For the longest time, there was nothing but "white person's slots."

The answer is obvious.  We need more systemic mechanisms like “legacy” and “good boy networks” to make sure mediocre WM are not passed up.  I mean just look at our president.   If he hadn’t had such mechanisms in place he would not have been able to attend an Ivy League college, get multiple deferrments from draft, and we might have a more qualified person in office.  All his children are mediocre at best but are multimillionaires or billionaires based on these non-meritocratic systems which is why people like echub are so upset about it and just wants to make sure the most qualified people are….. oh wait.

I'm not going anywhere near any coverage of today's memorial but I'm sure the quotes that will come out of it will be beyond ludicrous

My family is pissed off that I said I hope POTUS and Veep deliver a unifying message and not blame and finger pointing.

“Took a white persons slot”

Explain that one.

For someone that says Kirk didn’t care about race or skin color, he sure seems to talk a lot about it. Hmmmmmmm

To believe that he's not truly a racist, you have to believe one of the following:

1) He knows his audience and the buttons and dog whistles for his public persona to hit to drive viewership, create viral moments and controversy, and make him more money.

2) He's a moron and doesn't fully grasp the dog whistles he's putting out into the world [see: Trump, Donald], but he (or his handlers) know to play the hits.

Is either option really make it better?

They should give Laura Loomer at least 30 minutes.

Like a funeral at the Legion of Doom, where all the super-villains show up to pay their respects.

Pretend it didn’t happen and mislead about things like CRT.

Flipping through news channels earlier and briefly watched the memorial for melon head Kirk. They were doing a church service before the actual dog & pony show and people were in a trance and swaying back & forth… weird fucking shit. And as I suspected, Newsnation seems to be in the RW media clan as they’re broadcasting the memorial.

My hot take is that mediocre, connected white people are among the biggest beneficiaries of DEI. The fact is that there will always be spots for lukewarm nepobabies and brahmin class failsons in every elite institutions from preschool to Ivies to Wall Street.  Their spots are secure, they are not actually competing for anything with minority applicants.

The middle class, public school, whip-smart white kid is directionally correct feeling like the deck is stacked against him or her. They are correct to chafe at the idea that because of their skin color, they are equally privileged as the legacy Andover chode who has had private tutors and a building with his last name on campus.

The mistake is getting angry at minority applicants instead of the legacy or connected mediocrities who actually are getting favorable, unearned treatment.

There's probably some truth in this, but I don't think it really as much the kid with the family name on the library as much as the upper middle that is getting the free ride. The blue collar kids bear the brunt of it when going for white collar jobs. The super rich ones have always existed in a separate ecosystem.

Apparently some church in Plano used AI to generate an image of. Charlie Kirk speaking from the grave

Surprised he didn’t rise out of it as predicted.

Hey wait a minute.... I wonder if a similar thing happened with Jesus 2000 years ago. Like he was a complete piece of shit but that wasn't a good story, so it was, um, modified. We've seen it happen in real time over the last 12 days, so imagine how easy that would be to pull off over centuries with no media.

I seem to remember something in my church days about worshipping false idols.

Love, forgiveness, humility, loving your enemies, treatment of the poor and immigrants..... Basically, just watch the leader of their cult and whatever he says, the exact opposite. Which is weird, because one cult directly contradicts their other cult. And they don't seem to notice.
