Agree they are doubling down, but they hit their ceiling with Trump on the ticket or out campaigning and they still couldn't hold the House, Senate, and White House between 2018 and 2020.

There is also nothing they are doing to bring in moderates/independents.

They are ultimately relying on the Democrats being their usual incompetent selves.  A few more Stacey Abrams types who have their shit together and the GOP would be in a world of shit.

You’re focused on the old game of winning elections. Meanwhile, the GOP has moved on to a strategy that moots the need for that.

That kind of normalcy bias is exactly why the Dems are going to fuck this up and let MAGA overthrow our democracy. The game has changed. We can’t count on winning by getting more votes. We have to be prepared for violence, disingenuous procedural objections, and other ways a zealous minority will attempt to seize power despite losing at the ballot box.

You may think that all Republicans are publicly insane, or want to be publicly insane, but the actual powers-that-be care more about winning and the flow of money than anything else, and 4 straight years of losing after having had it all in 2016 will make them shift course really fast, because that corporate money will start flowing to more Democrats if the Rs keep up the losing.

They may not rush to embrace Liz Cheney, but they sure as shit aren't going to let Trump/Gaetz/MTG/Lauren Boebert/etc. be the face of anything, and arguably, they already are ditching the Trump GQP to an extent - look at politicians who won by trying to distance themselves from him earlier this month. Look at those who lose by attaching themselves to him.

Trump is actively trying to funnel money away from the GOP as well, and that is not missed by the leadership.  Trying to take what they view as their money, plus costing them both chambers and the WH, has not left them a bunch of happy campers.  The revelations about Trump wanting to bail on the GOP and the GOP telling him to pound sand and that they would withhold his access to the various donor lists, etc. spoke volumes about where things stand.

The GOP didn't win as bigly as they needed to earlier this month, and a few of the standout races showed that Rs can win without Trump all comes at a time that Trump is proving to be a liability.

And there is always the threat of Trump still going scorched earth on The GOP.  Our dumbass governor is showing that he's scared shitless over the thought of losing Trump's support.

I do not think that at all. I know that most Republicans aren't the batshit crazy fucks we see on TV. And I am well aware of the money flow in politics also. But you make good points.

That's pretty weird that he's claiming that the representation of killing someone given his stance on Islam.  As well as the anime porn his daughter did for us last year.

How come all these "good Republicans" get a free pass, yet a lot of people on the right think every Muslim must do something to condemn or stop terrorism?

this debate on the house floor is a joke.

why republicans feel like they have to defend this fucking clown is amazing to me.

They don't have to. They're not gaining votes by doing this and they wouldn't lose votes by refraining from doing this.

They're doing this because they want to.

These Republicans are making my laugh my ass off with their utter stupidity. You know they don't have a leg to stand on when Gym Jordan has nothing to say about it (he redirected to policy) but I will say Tits Boebert may have swung Democrat votes with her inspired speech....

Any Republican that stands up and speaks should be embarrassed, but they won't. Stroke the Trump base....

Don't let Rep. Boebert's speech distract you from the fact that her husband pled guilty and spent time in jail for showing his junk to a teenage girls and that she received her GED a few months before her election to the House of Representatives.

Her speech was inspiring to me. Having a daughter that is pursing her PhD in psychology I know that with people like this crazy bitch, my daughter will have a fulfilling career.
