Oregon, barring injury, really has the sweetest cfp set up.

Skip conference championship, warm up laugher at home, next round against a team that hasn’t played a real team all season and leans really hard on Turn overs as their big playing card.

The good thing is that they're going to redo the playoff format because of Tulane and JMU.   The bad news is that the same idiots will managed to come up with an even worse seeding system.

This.

JMU has had the angle a few times and just gotten blown away.  The score will be what Lanning says it will be.

I'd go a step further and say the Dukes couldn't match up with O's backups.

They shouldn’t even call it the playoffs. That implies some sort of process was used to select the best teams.

The whole way they do rankings is wrong.  There’s just no way JMU is the 24th best team.  I’m not sure they’d beat the worst SEC team.  Maybe some Big 10 or B12 bottom feeder .

We'll get a chance to see if that's the case in a week and a half. Oregon will be at least twice as good as anyone they played all season.

Update?

You act like I predicted a JMU win.  Calm yourself.

All I said was JMU is well-coached (they are) & that it was fun seeing them try to keep up with a much more talented team in the early going.  I wondered if they could keep it going, and they couldn't.  No huge surprise.  Just too big of a talent disparity.

What other sport could you say there was an ocean sized gulf in talent disparity in the fucking playoffs?

College football is a joke

And if they get through that PROBABLY an IU team that they saw, and lost to so at least some familiarity and a little bit of motivation.  Or a Bama team that can't run the football.

At least the committee looks about as stupid as can be. The fact there is a committee tells you already it will suck. They legit didn’t even know Miami and Notre Dame played each other and corrected their “mistake.” Texas, Vandy, Duke, BYU and Georgia Tech, ND any of these teams in the first round would have made the playoffs watchable and exciting and instead we get aggy who had a soft schedule all year until they played us, crystal ball and his Horridcanes, JMU, Tulane…Blow U and Mateer doing his best Wolverine impression from Red Dawn. Shit show. Shit show.

Even aggy would score a few offensive TDs on JMU... That's how much they don't belong

Have one G5 team (maybe) but two?? Scintillating football.

Prob couldn't piss off Texas or ND had to screw em both to seem fair, so two G5s got in

If you look at the box scores, Oregon is almost matching this game minute for minute with their early season game against Oklahoma State they won 69-3. Oklahoma State was 1-11 this season. Why the fuck is James Madison playing Oregon in a playoff game? Total failure by the CFP committee.

Lanning has spent the back half of the season prepping to is team to deal with Indiana’s bully ball.

Ole Miss got to have a rematch against a team they scheduled for a non-con cakewalk.  Even proposing that should have got you laughed out of the room.

March Madness constantly. Although I don't really mind since there are 68 teams in and no team worth a damn gets left out.

To have his size of disparity means nothing if they had a real playoffs like FCS. Because no good teams are being left out. But the issue is, good teams got left out for this junk in Tulane and JMU. Texas, ND, Vandy and BYU run these teams off the field.

Tech’s D will overwhelm Oregon. It’ll get ugly for them.

I’m not an apologist for the committee or anything but the rules were they had to put the top 5 conference champions in. So it was either JMU or… fucking Duke.

i doubt Duke would be doing any better

It's an interesting situation.  I don't think any human being no matter how knowledgeable knows how tech is going to handle real competition.

Can the tech coaches have the kids ready to just not out-talent the competition?

Hope Oregon punishes em

Idk but clearly this game is some kind of indicator for that.

This is correct.  It had one team run out to 17 point early lead, get reeled in and passed, score one TD late to make it close and then ended with OU sucking.

I guess of all the genocides, the Armenian genocide in Turkey after WW1 was the least bad / best….. as far as genocides go.

This team would finish last in every P4 conference. It's a joke to have G5 in the CFP, in any year.

This. Isn’t. The.  Committee’s. Fault.

They didn’t make the auto-qualifier rules.

The two “judgment calls” the committee made both won their games.

I’d say the committee has come out looking pretty damn good from this weekend.  The conferences and NCAA not so much.

And everyone agreed to these rules. People act like the committee is some kind of all-powerful god king that made all the rules. They're just following the shitty rules everyone else made.

Sam Houston vs, James Madison would have been a good bowl game on ESPN 8 on a Tuesday night in early December.

Somehow someone figured if it works for basketball, it'll work for football. However:

College football teams - 100 to 120 players

  College basketball - 12 -14 players

The smaller the number the more likely the parity.  But, I'm certainly glad we'll have "Cheeze-it" on our resume.

The first two games were pretty ugly, but as Texas fans we had it pretty good as viewers with a strong rooting interest in both. And they ended up quite enjoyable given the results.

These last two are not only non-competitive, I don’t give a single fuck who wins (as if there was any doubt).
