Had quite a workout this afternoon….. an hour and a half in the dentist’s chair while he was grinding away  on two of my molars for the temporary crowns.
Jaw is still numb as a politician’s brain.

Been around ten years since I finally gave up and admitted my teeth have always been pure rotten shit. I think I was at 11 or 12 crowns and looking at another two or three plus some of the old ones rotting out underneath... I went and had all 25 remaining teeth yanked in one marathon day and put 4 titanium screws implanted in top and four in the bottom (called "all on four") and next morning screwed in the newbies. That same day, I ate an apple or three for lunch along with a damn nice Ruben. Never had a second's worth of problems, never looked back, best damn dental decision ever made.

I did look like someone who'd been kicked in the face about fifty times by Tommy Nobis - but that only lasted a week or so.

What did that cost?  I think I'm headed the same way in 5 to 10 years.  No amount of brushing or flossing keeps my teeth from falling apart, and my dad was the same way.

My smile is fine, but almost everything in the back is crowned, and some of those are starting to need to be replaced, and I'm just about ready to say hell with it, do it all.

Get both eyes done, and splurge for premium lenses. Best decision I’ve ever made. 20/10 eyesight after wearing glasses for 35 years.

This. My dad had cataracts and was afraid of walking at night because he was worried about tripping. He finally had them done 2 years ago and he said it was night and day (no pun). He also had his vision adjusted, so he has to wear reading glasses instead of just taking off his glasses to read.

Eye related, but this applies to me. I had my eyes checked 1.5 years ago and got a prescription for bi-focals. Whatever adjustment they gave me for reading is already too weak. I'm taking my glasses off again to read. Back to the optometrist I go.

So update on my dad. When I went back to see him, I brought several types of food enzymes and told him he to take them to see what happens. My mom made sure he was taking them according to the instructions. Lo and behold, his GI tract has improved a lot. No more diarrhea and he's no longer afraid of shitting his pants when he's out. He's gained a few pounds back, which is awesome. Him and my mom are coming to stay with us for the summer, so I'll try to fatten him up a bit. ***

*** On that note, he was hit by a motorcycle a few years ago. The bike spun him around and his head hit the pavement. They did emergency surgery to drain the blood but he lost most of his sense of smell during the recovery. He can only taste sweet and salty, which sucks because he used to savor food. He still likes the texture of a good steak though, so I'll ask my boy to keep making grandpa some kick ass steaks while they're staying with us.

I was working on my mower deck this morning.  Came in for lunch pain free and fully functional.  When I stood up from the table, my right knee hurt like a son of a bitch as soon as I put weight on it.  No twist, no pop, no weird bend, just pain.  It hurt to walk on it, to bend it, and to straighten it out.  It swole up and hurt the rest of the afternoon.  I had to sit in my recliner and take acetaminophen.  This evening it has loosened up, the swelling is down, and I can move around again.  I have no idea why it started hurting or why it stopped.  What the hell?

Posted a screen grab of the MRI results. It does not sound good. Lots going on in there.

Thanks all for the feedback. I'm sure I will push the recovery envelope like the idiot that I am.

Had the scope yesterday. By midnight I was getting around and doing stairs without crutches. Today I did the after school pickups and the stairs 3-4x. I might have done too much. It definitely hurts worse tonight than it did last night. The swelling. 😂PXL_20250522_012617404.thumb.jpg.cf37543aeacdf8b7ace9ce2a4a326197.jpg

Def welcome to my share of that shit.

It's almost like my body is trying to tell me something as my back went out the last 2 times playing pickup bball.  Almost 51 and a eurostep did me in 2 weeks ago and still hurts like hell every morning.  Got an MRI for the hell of it and it did not show anything too bad that needed correction.   Maybe ill take up knitting

Knock on wood I haven’t had a knee problem since my right knee was scoped in 1988. Dr. Jim Swink in FW.

Eye Herp, I have eye herp. Not a thing for only the olds but I'm an old and I have eye herp.
This. A few months ago I discovered a small bump on my left eyelid. Had my annual dermatologist screening at that time & she referred me to an ophthalmologist. Turns out it's a backed up lubricating gland.

Did antibiotics, ointment & warm compresses for 2 weeks. All that resulted in was the doxycycline knocking down my immune system (which is formally mutant-level strong) so I picked up a head cold. Next step is a procedure next Thurs where they're gonna unblock it. Sounds like they're lancing a zit over my eye.

My office mate had that done a couple of weeks ago. Sounded like a pretty simple procedure and he came back to work right after it. Hopefully yours will go as smooth. I have RA so my immune system is jacked up. The eye doc put me on a twice daily dose of antibiotics to get this under control. It seems to be working. He liked what he saw yesterday.

I have a persistent cough that my rheumatologist is concerned about. I'm going to get a CT scan and pulmonary function tests done in July to see if they can rule out Rheumatoid Lung disease. I was hospitalized with pneumonia 25 years ago and grew up breathing lots of second hand smoke so I could have any number of things  bothering my lungs. No need to stress about it just yet.

But I still will.

Had a colonoscopy last week, my doc said he took out a couple of polyps but there was one that he couldn't get and that I needed to see a surgeon. So I went to the surgeon and he said these terrible words: "I'd like to take a look at your anus". And boy, did he look. He claimed the probe thing was short but I disagree. It didn't hurt but it was very uncomfortable and I kept feeling like I was about to just unleash a huge turd on this guy. Luckily, we all escaped unharmed.

Well, as long as both his hands weren’t on your shoulders, you’re probably safe.

Funny you should mention this. I was too "in the moment" to think about shit like that, but when he came back into the room after I was in position, he made sure to identify himself, "Hey, It's Dr Ass Invader, getting ready to probe". He also gave me a heads up that he was wiping off the gel. I still felt all weird afterwards but at least he was by the book (as far as I know, I guess).
