Yeah, that's what my buddy says.  He's a Lt. Colonel and he said the geographic and racial diversity really plays out in political leanings.  Young white southern guys?  Trump.  Young white guys from the west coast or the northeast?  Biden.  Young black and Hispanic guys?  Usually Biden.  Young guys from the midwest?  Varies.  Officers?  Varies.

But, there's a shit ton of young white southern guys in the military.

NOTE:  "guys" means "soldiers", not men.  Also, he's speaking of active duty, not veterans, which was the demographic represented in the charts above.

Correct.  Military members break out politically by demographics and not just blanket military.  I sat next to an Army Lt Col flying out of CLT once.  Black woman doctor.  She hated Trump and thought he was a racist shitbag and said all of her officer peers felt the same way.

Yawn.

"Trump has been exactly what we conservatives always said government should NOT be: expansive, wasteful, arbitrary, unpredictable, and prone to abuses of power."

This is what I've been saying from Day 1. You can't be a Conservative and support Trump. He doesn't stand for what Conservatives stand for. He's nothing more than a selfish bully who wants to be, and is supported by, everything the men and women who have fight and died for this country were against: Authoritarianism.

That's b/c you are in Texas.  It's cultural.  White suburbanites in blue states on the coasts don't have guns (by and large). I just assume every Texan has at least 7 guns (As a non Texan I have 2- locked in a gun safe with the key thrown away- they are the wife's guns). Fuck that shit- I've got 3 kids around I'm not taking any chances on them shooting themselves or each other. Those guns aren't coming out without a locksmith coming to open the gun safe. Every time the wife mentions that I "get right on that" and let nature take its course and the woman forget about it altogether.

Unless they are heirlooms, why don’t you get rid of them? It’s not just cultural and guns aren’t scary.

It’s clear  you haven’t done this but teach your kids gun safety at a young age (never know what they may run into outside your house). I started with my kiddo in a nerf gun and we practiced gun safety. Moved to a BB gun then a single shot 22.

Trying to save face from his association with Trump yet still helped craft the child separation policy by criminally indicting every parent for a misdemeanor and forcing they be held in a separate prison facility from their children. Fuck that guy. I don’t care how many Biden ads he’s in

I don't get rid of them b/c the wife wants them.  Which is why I do pretty much most of what I do when I'm not directly serving my own needs (I mean this in a good way, not an I'm whipped way- I like trying to make her feel content or happy).

I know you can teach kids gun safety at a young age. And I also know of a couple of kids that know better that shot themselves/each other (one of each in my high school of about 750- rural AF at the time and I'm telling you- these kids knew better). Also, beyond accidents there's the whole suicide thing- where a hormonal kid decides to eat a bullet over a temporary problem that seems like the end of the world. Or I've got a kid that's a nutter that I half worry could be a candidate to commit manslaughter under the right conditions (he's 8- I expect he will grow out of it but I'd rather not give him any opportunity).

None of this is me saying I want to take away anyone else's guns.  And, it's also easy for me to have this stance as being anti gun as the area I live has busy bodies armed to the teeth all up and down my street- so I've got community defense acting for me instead of having to defend myself- but I subscribe not to the castle doctrine for myself as it relates to home invasion but to the french doctrine (run and hide).  I have no desire to kill any living thing more genetically complicated than a cockroach.

When the revolution comes that Brisket keeps warning about I will be in the woods hiding with me or mine or just dead. Not sure if Antifa will get me or the proud boys, but I'm a dead duck either way.   My MIL is half prepper/all nuts and she asked me what my plan was for when (fill in the blank unlikely event happened) and I told her die with 90% of the population- I'm not one that believes I will  live through the end of the world. And that's ok with me.

This is me.  There's a difference between an instinct for self-preservation and having a fear of everything, real or imaginary, that you could encounter in this world.  This is why I have no desire to have a gun (I inherited one that sits in the back of my closet.  I have no ammo for it.).

Yep.

We have 6 acres. My brother loves guns.  They live in a subdivision.  When he and the cousins come down my kids and I will fire off some rounds in the general direction of a coke can or paper plate or something like that while he does all the teaching and safety.  Totally supervised.  It's sort of fun. But not something I have any desire to spend money or take responsibility for or have around my kids without adult eyes directly on them.

SO- have we all come around to facing reality that this race is over and the only question is does Biden win 280+ electoral votes or 400+ electoral votes or some number reasonably in the middle?

No I have it on good authority from a clear-thinking and totally sober guy on surly that Trump is going to win California and the entire election. I mean there were like a thousand people marching for him in Beverly Hills.

That's not very scientific.  Now if you want scientific, my dog took a shit today that kind of looked like Trump so I would guess that means Trump wins the election in a landslide.  Now that is a prediction that is based on science.

I guess if you ask him, his conscious is clean since he voted down Trump's other proposals.

I agree with you on all these rats that are jumping ship. Even Ted Cruz has started.

Gonna need some evidence of that last claim

Biden is going to have to get it done without PA. They are going to do whatever they can to trim the number of mail in ballots:

Pennsylvania election officials ordered to keep late mail ballots separate

WASHINGTON — Pennsylvania officials have notified the U.S. Supreme Court that the Secretary of the Commonwealth issued guidance to county boards of election directing them “to securely segregate all mail-in and civilian absentee ballots received between 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, and 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020, from all other voted ballots.”

The cutoff under Pennsylvania law for receiving mail in ballots to count is 8 p.m. A state Supreme Court ruling extended that to 5 p.m. on Nov. 6 but that extension is under court challenge. Republicans are asking the Supreme Court to declare that order unconstitutional.

Republicans asked that, at a minimum, late ballots be kept separate. The state took the action today on its own.
