EDIT:completely unrelated but it’s the 9th anniversary of Bin Ladens death if you need a reason to drink at noon on a Friday and gorge on hotdogs/meats

damn, this fool is charged with a state jail felony.

Quote

Hicks was charged with attempted assault on a public servant — a state jail felony — and was booked into the Travis County Jail. He was in the jail Friday with bail set at $7,500, according to online county records.

A state jail felony is punishable by up to two years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000.

way to ruin your life, dumbshit.

Since when can the State of Texas print money?

There may be a bailout for state and local governments at some point in the future--though Moscow Mitch says he'll oppose one--but it's not going to happen today.  And that's when the Workforce Commission's money is running out.

And we can observe that the Workforce Commission is going to run out of money because Texas charges employers a scandalously low rate for unemployment insurance.  And I'm sure that won't be addressed in the next legislative session.  Because we love bidness!

But absolutely none of that addresses the cash-crunch that is facing Texas and other states right now.

Gonna come sooner than later

I first wanted to be a park ranger when I went to Yellowstone as a kid. Seemed like an easy, enjoyable way of living. As you get older you realize it’s all the weed smoking, living off the land hippies, and you want to join even more. But then I saw this in Austin and I feel like 90% of the job here is looking the other way when kids smoke weed and drink in parks and the other 10% is telling fat guys at Hippie Hollow to take the penis out their mouths.

Some light hearted fun here:

In the contest of which race of stupid Texans will fuck this up the most it appears stupid white Texan takes an early lead at Snuffer's.

That appears to be the Snuffers in my hood.  I’m so proud.

Just on posts I’ve seen on social media, zero masks and zero distancing
hopefully the second wave stays containable

I'm 75 percent Swedish anyway so fuck it. Let's rip the bandaid off and get it over with. These guys couldn't wait to blow their old man morning coffee breath on each other.

There was a couple at the outside bar at Fuzzy’s in Mansfield pounding Rita’s at 10:30a this morning. Not sure whether to denounce or commend their actions.

They waited 8 weeks and probably an hour before opening to eat the rotgut garbage that Snappy's place calls its menu?

Christ, people have waited less to get into El Bulli.  If it's human interaction you want, you could just go what everybody in my 'hood is doing...go to Trader Joe's, loiter, and not shut the fuck up for 45 minutes.

Oversharing, I’ve been drinking. Point stands that Hippie Hollow has been overrun with creeps and being a park ranger in Austin probably isn’t glamorous.

No problem.   Thanks to you I’m thinking about a porn screenplay called Bi-Curious George and the Man With The Yellow Hat Go To Hippie Hollow.

Patios in the domain were starting to fill up about an hour ago. If the restaurant keeps their dining room empty can they pack their patios? Because that's what is going on

Doesn’t seem smart.

Oh Lord, laughing my ass off.  A Rick Sutcliffe reference, the Red Baron, on this the holiest of days.  And the "freaking me out" coincidences from Surly keep rolling on.  I had a dream about Joe Carter of all people last night (nothing terribly sexual, just some light petting).  And of course he goes on to have a great career but he's how the Cubs get Sutcliffe and should have won it all versus Detroit in '84.  That or I drank too much with Kelly Gruber several years back.  And the beat goes on...

There will be no enforcement of percentage capacity rules, IMO.

Even if they wanted to enforce it, it would take them a couple of weeks to figure out who is going to do the enforcing.

I mean it’s not as bad as pushing a cop because then you’re dead, but that dude is gonna serve a little time for this. Not a lot, but geezus.

And it would require math.  "Wait, your occupancy certificate is for 220 people, so inside, you can have........

....ahh, fuck it, you're fine."

Appeared to be in full effect tonight at least at La Hacienda here. Tables spread out, disposable menus, staff masked and gloved. Guitar player singing. We even got a couple drinks on the house. Was glorious.

That’s the one.  We do a lot of takeout from many restaurants in there.

Used to go to Dimassi's a weekly. Love that place and the Indian spot in there.

All it takes is one of them getting on the news for violating.

that’s one thing that every restaurant owner I talked with mentioned.  All the ones I drove by and checked out earlier had removed most of their tables inside so they  had no choice but to maintain occupancy restrictions.

That's pretty good that they did that. Customers might be tempted to grab a table otherwise so good that the owners planned ahead of time to keep the distancing.

Holy shit, are you the poster I talked about this with on the old site?  The borderline homeless guy from north Chicago that used to wander the aisles at Wrigley in the middle of the day piss drunk chanting that?  Back when you get a GA ticket and 9 budweisers for $30?

How do waiters stay 6 ft apart at all times from people they're serving?

And the patio sections I've seen have had almost zero masks, zero distance, and we're pretty full.

If we're going to open up under these conditions we need radical changes to limit all human contact to as close to zero as possible.

Place I was at earlier had servers in masks, and changing gloves every 10 minutes.   The busboys were cleaning the tables, chairs, and menus from each table repeatedly (chairlegs and all).

Ok, Karen. Have you ever walked through Lowe’s or HEB and briefly had to walk by someone?
