10.15.20 Trump Town Hall Thread Of Insanity

Bobblehead in the red mask is driving me crazy. Chick in the blue mask over his right shoulder seems to have some RATS, but who knows what she looks like. Stupid Covid masks.

This is such a waste of time but I can't look away. Hopefully the rude blue mask girl gets a question without a mask so at least I get some closure there.

Biden just told a story about something Mitch McConnell did that was nice.  Really going for the decency vote.
Bold strategy.

Biden did a really nice job with that. We need to be decent and come together and not hold grudges.

Buuuuut—the Department of Justice will do what the DOJ does.

Biden is looking up as hes speaking. Like he’s trying to remember facts and thoughts. Which means tomorrow we’ll be seeing tweets talking about a teleprompter being in the rafters.

He is looking at the audience member that asked him a question. They have people socially distanced and a guy at the top asked a question. He knew his dad out of the Reagan administration.

I think a large reason people will break for Biden is he's the antithesis of Trump. It's similar to when a franchise fires a middling head coach who let the players play grab ass and then hire the guy who's the total opposite, a hard ass disciplinarian. People want decency to return to the White House. They want a President who has empathy. They want a President who can work with other nations. We tried the asshole, narcissist businessman that was the jerk off political fantasy of Boomers going back to Ross Perot and it went pretty f'ing poorly.

Literally turned it to a shaky old trying to suck off the prez on live tv.

Gross.

Biden nailed the Green New Deal/fracking question and I say that as someone whose livelihood depends on fossil fuels. The reality is that the future is renewables, but to try to shoehorn a 100% transition in less than a decade would be an economic disaster. A smoother transition is needed.

I like that Biden is two hours so that people can flip over and see him talking like a competent normal human being.

He always says number 1 and number 2 as he goes through his points. I think these are memorized to help him cue the points and also to even his speech out. He says "look" to stop a stutter block, and I think saying number1 blah blah blah, number 2 blah blah blah helps the word flow. He has only had a couple of stutter moments but they are so minor. Obama seemed to stutter more and it never bothered me too much. Joe's policy and data recall is pretty impressive. And I didn't know he taught constitutional law? Did I hear that right?

Republicans are such nasty shitty ass people. I bet you’re right. Those people have no integrity or morals at all.

Agree. And more so, it’s just not feasible in a world I like to call reality. Renewables jumping from 17% to 100% of energy capacity is unicorn talk. I absolutely believe the government should invest and push towards that goal, but if you think our government could build out renewable energy to cover demand in 10 years, you live in fantasyland

It’s what we in public speaking call “structure and sub-structure.”

Numbering like that helps an audience (especially one that may not know a lot about the topic) follow along with understanding, and they are more likely to remember what you said once it’s over.

I’ve been jumping around between the two streams and backing up to find various questions. Trump is completely fucking lost on this question about how he’ll help front line workers that are actively losing their jobs right now.

I stutter.  Bad as a child, but after years of speech therapy, now most people would never notice.  You develop coping mechanisms.  I have a great vocabulary, it allows you to pivot to a different word that means the same thing if you get hung up on a certain letter/sound.  You learn to pause, reflect, act like you are giving it some thought, etc.   It also helps when you don’t have a fat cunt cutting you off at every opportunity.

crushing the transgender question as well, especially with the son made the first transgender law in Delaware.

I think he may have gotten a little tripped up on the actual genders of the lady's kids (or maybe I did) but yeah, that's about as well as a 77 year old could have possibly answered that one. Great capper about the Delaware law.

Listening to Biden is like listening to an adult.  It's clear, simple and he's compassionate.

In the past, the answer was always build a wall.  Now, if he can't control the question, it's fake news.

Biden just fucking crushed the foreign policy question. Fucking drove the bus over the question and backed up repeatedly, then got out and took a chainsaw to what was left.

Good.

That fucker who asked the question is most definitely a dick you don’t want to talk to at the coffee pot.

I can’t confirm this, but I feel as if he’s downloaded child porn more than once.

Him trying to talk his way through who he owes the $400 million to is hilarious.

”Do you any money to any foreign bank or foreign entities?”

”Not that I know of, but probably because it’s so easy to solve, and if you’d like to do, I will let you know who... who I owe whatever this small amount of money. I want to say two things. Number one, it’s a very small amount of money. Number two, it’s very straight. It’s very very straight.”

My wife and I are actually crying about the the transgender question.  It was lovely. I just want to have two weeks where the President isn’t pouring gasoline on everything.

Wait till you hear the follow up about racial division.

Yep. I use this all the time, particularly in district court arguments. It’s key to helping an audience (a judge) who doesn’t know much about the issue or where I’m gonna go. Give em signposts. And then circle back to them as you close.
