So Gerry says he possibly makes an OV depending on.... and then now it's being reported as for sure scheduled? Maybe I'm just reading too much into it but this kinda sounds like a setup for aggy to get Weston to cancel and claim a recruiting win that never happened.

That first screenshot is about Solomon Williams my dude. Weston Davis lives in Beaumont.

He'd made it clear he was going to visit SW's school. Might be someone else.

Also, someone asked about RPM percentage for Weston Davis and Gerry's response was that if Davis actually makes his visit, he'll give percentages at that point. Sounds like he's a skeptic.

Davis is visiting ATM this weekend, along with a number of 2024 guys. If Auburn beats them, it could get pretty funny.

So are we looking to scoop up the OL commit from whichever team loses this weekend in the nationally ignored Auburn v A&M game?

Probably a financially astute move for an aggy target, especially an aggy commit, to schedule a Texas visit the week after he has an aggy visit scheduled, and have it be public info before the aggy visit.

If nothing else, it's nice to drain their funds right before they have to write a $77 million buyout check.

Squeeze hard, Ags!

He added if Mom and Grandmom show up with him it is real. If they do not, it is unlikely

CTJ has alluded to this but Auburn isn't losing commits because of a bad season. It's a 1st year under a new coach who has consistently been telling the media that they're playing against more talented teams and calling out that the cupboard was barren when he got there. If we're able to flip Carter from Freeze it isn't going to be because Auburn won 4 games instead of 6

…and I’m thinking they need to lock him up for the rest of the century. One good, long extension should do it.

He’s a shoo-in to win a championship before 2100.

If they do, imagine how mouthy they’ll be for having one championship over a 160 year span.

Crystal Ballin': Entering in two Horns247 staff Crystal Ball predictions for 5-star Brandon Baker

Horns247 Staff

With it being less than 72 hours from decision day for 247Sports’ No. 1 ranked offensive tackle and five-star Brandon Baker, Horns247 brings you another edition of Crystal Ballin’ in which Jordan Scruggs and Hank South enter in 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions and give analysis on their picks.

Texas was able to get the 6-foot-5, 285 pounder on the Forty Acres three times in 2023 alone, with Baker making it to Austin for January’s Junior Day, April’s Orange and White spring game, and his June official visit.

As the winter turned to spring and the spring turned to summer, sources in Austin began to feel like the Longhorns had a better shot after each visit Baker took, but it was the official visit weekend of June 16. when things really started to shake up and Texas started to be thought of as a true contender by Oregon and Ohio State who had been viewed as the main contenders up to that point.

By the end of June, the biggest question around Baker’s recruitment wasn’t which schools he was truly considering, but when he could come to his decision.

Depending on who you talked to during the month of July, some would say that Texas would have a better shot of landing the five-star if the commitment were to come sooner than later, with the flip side of it favoring Oregon or Ohio State if the recruitment were to go down the stretch. However like I said, that depended on who you talked to.

But as we got into the school year, sources began to name the Longhorns as the outright leaders, and in large part due to the work Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood had put into recruiting Baker since offering the five-star on March 30, 2022.

The Longhorns' pitch has steadily been centered around the player development that comes with playing for Kyle Flood as well the opening at right tackle that will be left once Christian Jones’ eligibility runs out after this season.

Now with three days left till Baker announces his commitment on the 247Sports YouTube channel, I'm expecting Kyle Flood to land his third five-star on the offensive line since arriving in Austin in January of 2021.

With that being said, I’ve entered in a crystal ball prediction in favor of Texas to land Baker with a confidence of 6. -- Jordan Scruggs

Offensive line recruiting efforts have seen a noticeable uptick under offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and head coach Steve Sarkisian since they arrived in 2021. That’s nowhere more evident than the Longhorns’ starting left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., who will almost assuredly be a high first round pick in the spring of 2025. With that being said, UT is working on putting a stamp on this 2024 signing class, and five-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker is arguably the biggest — literally and figuratively — remaining target for the staff. With an announcement upcoming on Sunday at 8 p.m. CT on the 247Sports YouTube page, I’m placing a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of the Longhorns at a confidence level of six. Texas is battling Oregon, Ohio State, Nebraska, and others for the No. 1-rated offensive tackle in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Sources close to the situation have been optimistic about Texas’ standing for Baker in recent weeks, stemming back to his official visit in June and another unofficial visit to the Forty Acres in the spring. The need and the connection formed with the staff I believe are all pointing to the Longhorns ahead of Sunday. You can bet schools will still be pressing through the weekend and beyond, but Texas looks to be in strong position. -- Hank South
