I’ve been going to the TX OU game since 1982. I’ve seen over 35 of them. Only missed a few years. Went last year.

It’s always been uncomfortable, but it definitely got pretty bad last year. So much so I decided to not go this year. But no matter how bad it gets, I would never trade that incredible experience for anything else.

Some of the most amazing sports moments of my life were in that stadium. It was magical and legendary. They just need to add bathrooms, add ways to get more concessions, and fix some flow issues. It’s doable.

Anyone advocating for home and home or movement to Jerry World can go fuck themselves with a Sooner dildo.

Aren’t renovations supposed to be completed prior to the game in ‘25? Didn’t go this year, but one entrance was supposed to have been updated before yesterday, as well as 1/4 of a concourse level?

The fantastic sight lines from damn near any seat inside that stadium (unless behind a column) almost make up for the shitshow that is everything else.  I'm optimistic they can improve some with these renovations.  It doesn't have to be perfect and it should never be "comfortable".  But it shouldn't be a shit show either.  It's a pretty low bar.

The worst part about the Cotton Bowl are the shitty employees there. A lot of the people working booths are just fucking rude. There were so many fans in other peoples seats yesterday who just flat out refused to move and the ushers would just shrug and ignore it. My son had a bunch of bitchy sorority girls that took over he and his friends seats before they arrived and refused to leave. They tried to sit in empty seats near there and got yelled at by olds for sitting in their seats. Someone needs to police that shit because it got really out of hand in some areas and almost started several fights.

It’s possible to love the game at the State Fair and Cotton Bowl and also recognize the major failures that could be improved.

No one wants it moved to Jerryworld. We just want better ingress/egress and concessions that don’t run out of everything before halftime.

Not being able to buy anything to eat or drink does not magically add to the charm of a football game.

I am hoping that the 2025 version is vastly improved because the place is a shit hole that is not designed to hold 90K. I will also say the talent was on full display, but where are the titties in today's female college student?

1983 here. Moerschell, Luck, Terry Orr, streakin' Edwin Simmons. Cade & Gray. Marcus Dupree, meet Richard Peavy. Marcus Dupree, meet the Longhorn sideline. Good times. Seems like yesterday. Crazy.

When I finally got to my seats after battling the unscannable ticket issue and the horrid line through Gates B and C, I was huffing and puffing and pissed off. And this couple was sitting in our seats. This bitch was doing me a favor by offering to switch seats with me.

Fuck no, you snapperhead. I spent a good bit of time selecting the best available seats when I bought  I’m not letting you have my seats and squeezing in with a bunch of heifers. Dumb bitch.

Congrats on your 5 trips. I’ve been 30 times. It’s a piece of shit stadium that is nowhere close to some stadiums of its vintage. I’m not talking about amenities. I’m not talking about lacking respect for the fucking game. I’m talking very specifically about the venue that is falling apart and has zero ingress and egress. It’s terrible and it’s absolutely not sustainable. Try not to create too many more strawmen before your 6th visit.

Congrats on your 30 times. I’ve been to every game since 1984 save the Covid year. You’re a fucking jerkoff, and always have been.

saw a sorority girl place a $20 on top of her phone, trying to convince the overwhelmed ticket scanner to let her friend in.

"sir, do you see her ticket? it's right here on top of my phone!" 😂

nothing ever changes.

They definitely need better security. Fuck all that frat and mainly sorority whore bullshit of extra tickets when they don't have one. That's why my dad told me to always get there early. LOL last year some Chi O or whatever the fuck she was came up to me and my buddy telling us we were in her seats. I said, "no I don't think so. These are my seats" then showed her my phone with the section, row and seat numbers while pointing to the seats. She went blank and left the section. That's how you do it. Was tempted to let her and her friend sit with us maybe if she had sucked me off in the bathroom stall lol

And for security, then definitely need more police at every gate to help monitor and keep traffic flow. The reason people without ticket keep sneaking in and getting away with it is because the Cotton Bowl security folks are all seasonal and don't really get paid enough to give a shit.

Yep. And they hate us.

They can be useful.  Back in 2005 I couldn't find a ticket, so, with my wife in tow, I palmed a ticket taker $40 and got in.  Sat up in the temporary endzone bleacher seats they had that year.

$150 million and still standing in a half inch of pisswater in the bathroom. Concession lines still ridiculous.

That said, getting into the stadium was faster than ever, but it seemed like they just moved the former outside clusterfuck inside into the concourse of the stadium.  Don’t remember it ever being that difficult to move around inside the stadium.

I’ve gotten to the point where I analogize it to a great dive bar and just appreciate it for keeping it real. I mean, it’s still the greatest setting in all of sports and the best day of the year. And of course breaking one off in OU also always makes it sweeter. Can’t wait to bitch about it again next year.

I got to my seat a little earlier than usual yesterday. I thought the improvements were fantastic. The place looked so much nicer. The escalators were awesome, but couldn’t be used after the game because of the congestion at the exits. When I went to a drink vendor and the restroom, I was able to get there and back very quickly. I know that wasn’t everyone’s experience, but it’s an old stadium and cannot be made perfect.

This stadium has come light years ahead since they added the upper decks in the end zone. I love it more than I ever have. So glad we don’t play in a vanilla stadium that’s more about amenities than football. Fuck OU!

Getting in was night and day difference.  Way easier than this year and significant improvements in that respect so props to them for that.   Our seats were in the upper west side and that big concourse they added is really nice.   A ton more room up there.  Massive fail though to whomever did the bathroom redesign.   A men's bathroom with 2 urinals and 2 stalls (one ADA) to serve several thousand people is the dumbest thing I've ever seen.   Beer and Water sales were fine and plentiful where we were but food was nonexistent.  Wife left 2 mins before half and took her until end of half use restroom and find someone selling CFA sandwiches.

I'm assuming there is a better restroom somewhere to walk to so going to need to find that in future years.

The 2:30 start makes it tricky as we typically get Fletchers around 10:30 or 11AM but then get hungry mid-game.  Probably going to need to remember to grab some more food before heading into stadium next year.

Yes, I posted it somewhere in the game thread after I got back, but that was a waste of $ 150 million.  The escalators they put in, most shut down and clusterfuck leaving.  I get why they shut them down since it would have just caused a crush of people, but might as well have just put stairs there given no effort made to get people outside the stadium more quickly.  The concessions are still a shitshow, warm beers and warm water everywhere if at all.  I was in section 107; buddy  goes to one of the "new" upper deck bathrooms halfway through halftime.  Came back right at 3Q kick and said line never moved so he gave up(sounds like only a couple of toilets in said new bathrooms).  The only thing that was maybe a little better was the game entrance, but I chalk that up as much to the Fair not seeming as crowded yesterday, and no GameDay, etc, causing additional bottlenecks.   I never want this game to leave the Cotton Bowl, but they really fixed nothing.

Couple games per year during the Fair. The economic impact Texas/OU alone brings to the Metroplex is like $50M per year.

It is still run by the city of Dallas.  the restrooms were probably just some BS "hey we could add 4 piss holes here" late addition. This was done for suites(money) not to help the plebes in the "normal" seats.

there is only one way to do this game at 2:30.

corny dog at 10AM

eat something big at 1:30

piss at 2PM then enter in end zone gates

leave 5 min game time before half ends to piss

dealers choice on 2nd half piss but I usually chose 2min game time left in Q3.

Oh let's be clear, I don't really give a shit (I mean a cold beer would be nice) it could be like it was and would go to war if somebody legitimately tried to change the venue.  Just pointing out that whatever they were trying to improve beyond said "suites" was just a waste of time for the money spent.

Sound investment from the Dallas  when you consider a few of the other construction projects championed by John Wiley Price

We were in section 15. The concourse at that end if the stadium was ridiculous. Got into the stadium quickly but when we got to the narrowed concourse we waited and waited and moved a few inches a minute. I’m glad we decided to go into the stadium about 40 minutes before kick off but we actually got to our seats about 8 mins before KO. Nearly saw a couple of fights break out. I love having the game at the fair but that stadium will be a piece of shit until they widen the concourses around the stadium and improve the bathroom situation.

Posted

We went in Gate C about an hour before kickoff, and although crowded, we got to our seats fine. Concessions were already light on bottled water, which is ridiculous. Our friends were about 20 minutes behind us, and they got caught in a huge mob of people trying to push through the end zone sections. All of that was bad, and then Dallas' finest decided to start shoving people around, separating a buddy from his 12-year old son and 80-year old dad. It was a potentially dangerous situation.

In typical Cotton Bowl fashion, no one did dick to keep people from crowding around the section entrances five deep. A group of prob 20 or so students was watching the game at the top of Section 13 blocking the entrance because their seats were in the sun and they wanted to be in the shade. Come on. Also, I walked right back in after halftime with no ticket people in sight. This shit happens every year, but I'm just amazed it continues.

Didn't use escalators, but new restrooms were great before the game.

Sounds like many just buy a ticket to the fair and then can walk in when the ticket people leave and watch the 2nd half in the stands for free.

I never noticed, but I'm certain people do it.

I never showed my ticket to get into the fair or the stadium. I literally held up my phone with the screen dark and was waived in.
This was only my second one since 2009 and it definitely seemed less rowdy than 20 years ago. I assume that has to do with pricing out a lot of people with $200 tickets. Still amazing and I thought the upper deck might collapse during the punt return.

You are in the stadium for 5 hours.  I'm not missing the game to go back outside to fucking eat.   Have you ever been to a Red River game?  And you clearly missed the first part about Fletchers early.  But yes, adjusting food routine for 2:30 kick next year.

I mean, if you wanna be a cunt about it I can beat you at this game. It was a joke, not a dick, don’t take it so hard. But yes, I’ve been to 13 total and I promise I eat more than your fat ass. Never once have I needed food inside the stadium. That’s on your dumbass for not planning better than a six year old.

Well I've been to 27 and only a handful have been 2:30 kicks so that hits different.  Last year waited too late for our Fletchers and stood in line too long around noon.  This year did that at 10:30 and sole focus until leaving for game at that point was beer.   But hey, clearly fair food is really important to you so will gladly stop engaging.

The thing that never changes is a huge line of people waiting to buy coupons or corn dogs instead of walking 3 minutes to get to a booth with no line.

For the love of god could the fire marshall clear the fucking concourses?  They are narrow af, and having 10k camped out on stairs and along every wall and railing make them super narrow,  and impossible to navigate.

They need to turn off the in-game Tvs so less people loiter or better yet tell people to a) look at weather report b) understand you are sitting in the world's largest jiffy pop pan so if you cant handle that dont buy tickets.

"But I didnt think it would be That Hot" Then leave the stadium and go to - I dont know, maybe The State Fair of Texas - with 100s of buildings and places to see the game, with AC.

The concourse is not a fucking camp ground

OU sucks
