And I still hope we bring him home. Even if he was a sack of shit. He’s an American citizen. But Russia wasn’t offering his release.

Canadian born and holding 3 other citizenships. I’m pretty sure this guy was a bad actor where BG was a political pawn.

No it is not. Protest policy, not a nation. Kneel all you want, but when you need the help remember who is doing it. Be thankful that we as a nation do take care of people overseas.

Reminds me of stories dad told me about Missionaries in SE Asia. Hated US policy until the bad guys were coming. Then they wanted SF to rescue their asses.

Your example from your father is even worse than yours.  The missionaries were correct to hate US policy …and the missionaries were also correct not to want to be killed by the North Vietnamese when the country was turned into a decade long killing zone with all the lack of civility that accompanies a major war. As Griner is an American citizen, her country has a duty because of that citizenship to try to protect her in anyway they can. Period.

As to your premise, it is virtually impossible to not criticize the nation when it is the nations formal policies, sanctioned by the elected leaders in that country, that creates the policies in the first place.

The very fact that you think you can hate Segregation and Jim Crow and Dred Scott, but the country that officially created those policies is shielded from responsibility or protest - only shows that you are white.

And you might want to ponder if we should we treat all of the people saying “Make America Great Again” the same as Griner?    I mean, they are expressly saying that America is not currently great.  I guess all of them, a third of the country, should be criticized for asking the government’s help if they get in trouble in a foreign land, no?

Agreed, and it has pissed me off from the get-go.  "Let's take back our country" pisses me off plenty.

Who the fuck took it, and why did you give it up?

Lots of folks sure do lap at the fountain of liberty and good fortune, all the while denouncing the institutions that provide it.

csb/ In 2018, the American Enterprise Institute (radical left think tank based in D.C.) chapter in Texas hosted a dinner for N.S.A.-John Bolton.  It was held at III Forks Steakhouse in downtown Austin.  It was attended by radical libtard socialists like myself.  You patriotic conservatives that weren't there don't care about your country apparently.  Someone with intimate knowledge (I confess I didn't know the situation at the time) of Paul Whelan's detainment asked John Bolton about he and President Trump's plan to get Whelan out of Russia.  Bolton replied that he had little faith in Trump's ability to negotiate for Whelan's release.  The room was largely shocked at Bolton's undercutting of his boss.  Chatham House Rules no longer apply since John has since repeated this story to the press.

Bolton followed up with comments that he didn't think Trump possessed the diplomatic agility to pull something like that off, but was also skeptical Trump would allow someone else more capable to do it because it would make Trump look incompetent by comparison.  When pressed, Bolton became more reserved and simply stated that his confidence in Trump's ability to get Whelan out was best evidenced by the fact that he kept referring to Whelan as a "Soldier Left Behind" and Bolton asked him "We should publicly refer to him as a Marine" at which point Trump screamed "I know the difference between the Army and the Navy, John!"

This was John Bolton and AEI.  Brilliant Foundations of the American Right.  And they both know a Confidence Man when they see one.  Too bad most of you don't.

I was speaking more broadly about the entire site, not just this forum.  But yes, point taken.  And we should start a separate account from the Wreath Fund called "The Trump Dump" account because many of us are gonna get arrested to public defecation when he's dead and buried.

Serious question---I'm not suggested grave robbery or desecration.  But what other laws does shitting on a gravesite/tombstone entail?  Shitting in public, and the inevitable exposing of one's genitals to complete said bowel movement, I get those.  But what else is there besides those two?  Assuming he's not buried at Arlington or some federal cemetery, but probably the family plot back on Long Island.  That's just local New York violations, right?  Plus, I bet the D.A. whoever it is at the time, looks the other way on shit like that.  But even if they don't, you know the line of selfies will be around the block and how many fucking NYPD officers are gonna volunteer for "Trump Gravesite Shitter Duty"  That'd be the most humiliating detail in the history of police work.

Maybe I am missing sarcasm here, but the AEI is neocon central and closely aligned with Republicans and aggressive conservative foreign policy.  Paul Wolfowitz is currently a senior fellow there because these stupid fucks still think the Iraq war was a good idea. Lynne Cheney was cashing their checks while Dick was the most powerful vice president in history.  I know there are plenty of people who try to paint neocon as being liberal, but it's not.  It's just a Republican obfuscation to avoid blame for W's foreign policy.  It's bullshit. It's like saying the Nazis were socialists because it was in their name.

The plan to prevent the defecation of dotards grave will be more well-thought out and effective than his administations Covid plan.

Yeah, to suggest that AEI is anything other than a right-wing think tank and agency for conservative policy is nuts.

Lulz  Blaze Media.

But WTF WNBA? Your teams fly commercial? Further proof its not a real sport.

Yeah the players have been bitching about the no-charter thing for a while, but the league calculated it would cost $25M per year which apparently is an insurmountable financial hurdle.

The league doesn’t make money. It’s paid for by the NBA. Charity ain’t getting private jets

Players running around in burkas would make it even harder to watch.

Eh, drag losses are proportional to velocity squared.  If you're not running very fast in the first place, there's not much speed to scrub.

Seems to me the correct response is for the Airlines to ban people like this from using airports.  Let them fly private or drive if they cannot conduct themselves accordingly.

So that dude bought a plane ticket just to harass her? What a loser

Google “Alex Stein” — he’s been mentioned in here before. He’s a Highland Park fuckstick who likes to go to city council meetings (among other things) and rap and shit like that. He first came to my attention at the beginning of the pandemic when he filmed himself going into Target and “adhering” to their mask rule with a Zorro/Lone Ranger mask.

When I heard Griner was approached by a provocateur in the Dallas airport, I told my wife I bet it was Alex Stein.

I'm sorry. If I'm DFW Airport administration and you used my airport to harass people, you get the lifetime ban. It's not that hard to set up TSA security with his profile and ban him from getting to use the airport. He can stand outside and protest in 100 degree heat.
