I’m on vacation so I’ve missed some posts. With Jr out, what is the starting 5 looking like now?

I'm starting to think it'll be 3 freshmen, a sophomore and a junior. Be pretty cool if some freshman's superiority was undeniable and he Majors got played off the field tho

Who was playing LG then? My guess is maybe Christian Jones with Cam at RT or perhaps Agbo? And that would mean Majors losing his job to a freshmen, which would be very interesting. Is that Campbell? Robinson?

Hutson has been playing guard for the first team... As for supplanting Majors at C I don't really know, could eventually be Conner, Campbell or Hutson.  Likely Campbell.

Full notes from IT pt. 2

Spoiler

Some of this is overlaps with previous notes but they’re from different sources.

— Ewers better QB. Threw great TD to Cain. Threw two INTs (Brooks, Crawford). Looks more confident. QE hit Worthy on a deep route early that set the tone. Underthrown but Worthy adjusted. He did take a safety on a series they were backed up one the one-yard line. Unsure of who got the pressure/sack (EDIT: Barryn Sorrell)

— Card looked tentative and wasn’t making plays from the pocket. The best part of his day was two-minute drill.

— Maalik Murphy was with the threes and looked fairly comfortable in the pocket.

— Bijan = bubble wrap

— DL beat OL today. Looked more aggressive. O-line had to do barrel rolls with Kyle Flood after practice because of their performance.

— Moro Ojomo and Byron Murphy were with the ones at D-tackle. We’re definitely hearing about more 2-4-5 of late.

— Cam Williams dinged up, returned late at right tackle. Started with twos, finished with ones.

— DeMarvion Overshown not injured. Played a little. Sat out until conditioning/sprints after practice.

— Devon Campbell and Hayden Conner alternated at right guard today. Conner will start at left guard, they like him next to Kelvin Banks. Big NASA is football smart along with being nerd smart.

— Jaylon Guilbeau is looking really comfortable at Star. Surprisingly comfortable for a freshman. He’ll make some freshman mistakes but at a minimum looks to be solid depth behind Jahdae Barron.

— 12 personnel was Worthy, Whittington, JT Sanders, and Billingsley. Tarique Milton was dressed, didn’t play.

— Roschon Johnson suited up, went through drills, did not scrimmage.

— Sark was on the players pretty hard after the scrimmage.

Hutson was held out, and if Conner was playing RG the mystery remains who was at LG

In regards to the last note, Wells also added that he heard today’s scrimmage was a lot cleaner/better than the one last week but obviously sounds like there’s still things the coaches aren’t happy with.

Looks like Chip didn’t even try to put any effort into getting notes from today’s scrimmage.

Spoiler

A few nuggets from the Longhorns' second scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday ...

We can confirm that freshman offensive tackle Kelvin Banks limped off the field in Saturday's scrimmage and didn't return. Checking on the severity of the injury.

Just-annointed starting quarterback Quinn Ewershad some nice throws, including a deep ball to Xavier Worthy down the right sideline as well as a deep out to Casey Cain. Ewers also stepped up in the pocket and found walk-on transfer Gabe Sulser(No. 83) on a 10-yard crossing route that turned into a catch-and-run touchdown pass of about 40 yards.

But overall the defense won the day, sources said, with safety Kitan Crawford, who had a pick-six, and freshman cornerback Terrance Brooks, who also had an interception, coming up with impressive, notable performances.

A lot of starters didn't play and most didn't play a lot as coaches gave a lot of second and third-teamers work after the Longhorns suffered a couple season-ending injuries in last week's fall camp scrimmage (offensive lineman Junior Angilau and receiver Isaiah Neyor both suffered torn ACLs last Saturday).

Still a lot of areas to improve on this team, so hell yeah the coaches better not be happy...

Anwar knew this tweet would get engagement. The first scrimmage was closed to the media and public too.

Austin sports media is hot garbage. I miss Charlie Strong because he would always call Kirk Bohls "Kurt" and the bitch just had to sit there and take it week after week.

Anyone who continues to pay any of these chucklefucks after the past few offseasons only has themselves to blame. $9.95/mo for Longhorn fan fiction.

Same price to directly pay our fucking tight ends. Which is a better use of $10? No brainer

I can’t tell if you’re doing that “objective lens” bullshit still or you’re a little autistic. Why quote anything he says after learning that all his information is basically shit slung on the wall. I get possibly taking him serious when sark still had a mole because that was probably legit info but now….

Not they’re not!

To the average person hell yea they are, but to say they’re phenomenal athletes is pushing it!!! All you have to go do is read up on them, hell it’s been broadcast how unathletic Copper Kupp and Michael Thomas are. But what makes them great is their ball skills and route running, with a knack to find open spaces for their QB

This has been a string of really dumb takes by you. You’re objectively wrong. Michael Thomas is in the 91st percentile of NFL WRs for athleticism. It’s obvious you’re basing athleticism solely off of 40 times, which is a really dumb way to measure it.

I think his central point was that receivers (like Casey Cain) don't need all-world measurables to be all-world.

Agree and it is a no brainer. Grown men should not make a living gossiping about 18-21 year olds.

Grown men should pay the kids and gossip about them for free on surly.

Just saying after reading all the comments when he committed about how he is too slow etc... that it would give me an enormous amount of satisfaction to see him unleash his inner Jerry Rice and kick some ass.
