You're not wrong, whatever its origins, it has acquired that spelling and meaning.  https://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/to-the-manner-born.html

Fascinating! I feel better now that I know people have been making the same mistake for at least 166 years, to the point where my usage has become its own accepted version of the idiom. And thank you for that site, I’m bookmarking it because I love that kind of thing.

Definitely worth a rewatch. I just love that movie. Really scary at parts and laugh out loud funny in others. Best werewolf movie ever.

The Dobie Theater talk really takes me back. I lived in Dobie my freshman year and saw tons of movies there. Heavy Metal is one that stands out.

I saw several movies at HMA.  If you think the seats were uncomfortable for a 2-hour movie, just imagine sitting there for a 3-hour final!

Still a cool experience though.

What in the ever living fuck are you guys talking about in this thread?

Also I remember seeing Titanic in a movie theatre on campus when in came out with my then girlfriend. I got really high and fell asleep and missed the ending which caused a huge fight and we eventually broke up over the fucking Titanic move. Of all of the ways I found to have a girl dislike me I think that is by far the most ridiculous one.

That was so nice of her!

Much better, than saying her other guy is better in bed...

Said James, "In my opinion, there's nothing in this world
Beats a '52 Vincent and a Redheaded girl.
Now Nortons and Triumphs and Beezas won't do
They don't have a Soul like a Vincent '52."

He reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys
Said, "I've got no further use for these
I see Angels on Ariels in leather and chrome
Swoopin' down from Heaven to carry me home."
And he gave her one last kiss and died
And he gave her his Vincent

Young Frankenstein scared the hell out of me!!

This

I was four or five and my parents took me and my older brother to the drive-in in their convertible VW Bug.  At 53, I still remember crying and hiding in the backseat because I was so scared of Frankenstein.

Sarkisian's ability to identify coaching talent is at the same level as his ability to identity player talent.

I think this speaks more to his network and ability to collect and decipher trustworthy datapoints than actually evaluating coaches.

Baker has been such a pleasant surprise. I wasn't exactly down on the hire, but I didn't understand it. Why were we taking a chance on a relative unknown? We're Texas, we can get someone with skins on the wall. Especially for a position that Sarkisian didn't really value - after all, Bo Davis is an amazing recruiter and hasn't done shit so clearly Sark wasn't giving Bo the support he needed.

I was clearly wrong on both counts. I'd say the summer of 2024 did as much to build my trust in Sark as anything he's done during the season. Dude understands people.

Did you just say Bo Davis was an amazing recruiter? Huh? I'm not sure I agree with your detective work there, Lou.

Is this sarcasm I'm failing to register? Bo Davis was a lazy motherfucking recruiter and and relied on his ability to coach up shit. Meanwhile, Baker got more out of guys like Broughton and Collins than Davis ever did...hell I was impressed by Bill Norton in limited time.

the actors for the blair witch project got hosed by the studios.  for all the hundreds of millions that movie made I think they got a few thousand each and were told to kick rocks.  kind of a sad deal.

Bo Davis was paying Bama co-eds to sleep with recruits on recruiting visits when he was at Bama. Somebody started to chirp about it and Saban reluctantly had to send him packing. Later in his career, including his second stint at Texas, he was a surprisingly less effective recruiter. Weird.

You'd think there would be enough sluts (respectfully) in any decent college town that you wouldn't have to pay them.

I don’t think the hot blonds are willingly going after the giant fat guys that are generally broke at the clubs and parties.

It hasn't stopped me from trying. I can't close, but my ability to open is heroic.
