$50 to fix a speeding ticket? You can’t be serious. Does that include court costs?

they charged $50 and courts cost was $125ish

they sent me flyer about 10 days after my ticket

my ticket was 100% a speed trap / set up

If the shooter had been a non-Hispanic white guy who shot a black kid, I think we would be hearing more from some that the shooting was somewhat justified.

Or a hate crime.  It's a toss up.

How can I fix a ticket here in MOCO?

First ticket I've had since I was 16.

It would definitely be a whole thing.  Protests and counterprotests.  Abbott and Trump talking about sending in the national guard.

1) Good. The guy shot an 11 year in the back that was running from his home.

2) The shooter and victim probably knew each other. Sounds like the kid lived up the street. Horrific to fire on somebody that could be some kid in your neighborhood.

i've had one situation where a person was banging away on the front door, he was trying to break it down. i called 911 and was set up inside to shoot if the door broke down. in my mind, no shots until the door failed or he entered the house (thank god I upgraded the door when the house was purchased).

smaller town = very quick pd response. turned out he was mentally off, got separated from his family or something. thought the house was his house. his family showed up shortly after. his dad offered to pay for a new door or any damage

im glad i never fired

These people rot their brains on Next Door/social media/cable news, believing everyone is coming to rob them, hurt them or kill them and they have delusional fantasies of defending themselves.  That's all I got for why you'd shoot a CHILD running away.

Man saw his chance to be the big hero / bad ass and took it.

Didn't we have a poster once who was salivating at the thought of shooting people on the BART?

I've lived in the same Houston neighborhood for ~20 years. There's been one murder here over that time. It was a mentally ill/challenged young adult who murdered his grandfather and by all accounts didn't understand what he was doing. Just around the corner from me. I wouldn't wanted to shoot the murderer if he was banging on my door but not sure I would want to wait until he was inside of my house to act.

At some point even someone unaware, of their actions, may face consequences of them. It can both be a tragedy and justifiable, at least in Texas.

Did it happen in your actual neighborhood and on a cul-de-sac?  We may have lived in the same hood.  Happened maybe 6-7 years ago?  Post-Harvey.

Not a Cul-de-sac and pre Harvey. Maybe there’s a trend of grandfather murders.

Actually looked it up... it was an old man who lost his mind, killed his wife (I think she bled out in front of the house) and then he walked around from neighbor to neighbor knocking on doors... all while covered in blood.  Good times.

Waited in the shadows to murder them. Fired twice - first into the ground. Then the kid. The location of the first bullet in the ground off his property is going to fuck him.

I would think moreso the hiding in the bushes and hunting the children with a firearm is the bigger problem. It shows intent to harm and kill

He fucked up the moment he stepped off his property.

See, now that's just a dumbfuck, performative use of bail.  Yeah the guy "did it," but there's no evidence that he's a flight risk or continuing threat.

This was a friend of mine's parents.  Sad stuff.

It was determined that the man had a brain tumor/cancer that caused him to act erratic, incompetent to stand trial.  He died less than a year after killing his wife.

Ooofff... I remember it wasn't just a random killing and there were mental health issues tied to it.  I've heard stories of how brain tumors gradually and fundamentally change people and their personalities.  Sad all around.  This was not long after Harvey so they neighborhood was already reeling from the past year.

Records say investigators recovered more than 20 firearms from Leon’s home, including rifles, long guns and handguns. Teare says they believe a medium-caliber handgun was used in the shooting.

Records show Leon is a father himself, with a young child inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Didn’t Charles Whitman have a brain tumor?

In the lead up to trial, we're going to find out the kid's uncle's neighbor is in the country illegally and once sold a dimebag to a young white girl.  So kid definitely deserved it.

Happened when wife and I were newly married.  Friend of hers was dating Danny from the Ticket.  Wife got the call late at night that one of Danny's friends had been killed.  Forget the band he was in, but he was a tall guy and on some type of addiction meds.  Meds he mixed with alcohol.  Went into a delirious state, started attacking his girlfriend who managed to get him out of the house.  He's all amped up and goes to the neighbors house by mistake.  Banging on the door, screaming, probably lots of expletives including threats of violence.  Neighbor fires a "warning shot" through the door.  Aimed high.  Didn't account for the fact that this guy was 6'5+.  Right in the forehead....

Tragic ending by an idiot homeowner and an idiot on drugs.  Made the DFW news, etc.  Castle doctrine states you "can" protect your house, etc....but jesus man, just call the cops, hopefully you have an amped up dog, and just sit back in an secure location, watch the door, and wait.  Until your house is breached, you are still ok.

I had a very similar situation, and the only time I've ever been close to thinking about shooting someone. Woke up middle of the night about 4 years ago to dogs barking up a storm. Head downstairs and opened one of the curtains to see what they're barking at (usually a stray dog or the neighbor's cat in the front yard) and there's a guy standing on my front porch, literally an inch or two in front of the window. Scared the shit out of me. Dude starts knocking on the window "hey, let me in, let me in." I ran back to the bedroom, grabbed my gun and came back down. Told him to get the fuck out of there through the window, but he seemed to be totally out of it and wasn't hearing/responding. I could tell pretty quick this was either mental health crisis or he was black out drunk/on a bad trip.

Called neighborhood constables and waited in the dining room, gun in hand, watching him through the window. They showed up within a few minutes and threw the guy in cuffs and sat him down in their cruiser. Turns it out was a young guy with schizophrenia. Snuck out from his sister's house a few blocks away and was wandering the streets, thought my house was a church that would take him in. The sister showed up a few minutes later and they released him into her custody after I said I didn't want to press charges (he hadn't damaged anything or tried to force his way in).

Extremely relieved it worked out that way. If I had forgotten to lock the door or he had started trying to kick down the door or climb the driveway gate or something, I don't like to think about how I would have been forced to react.
