World Cup Day 11 - Group C & D Final Matchday

What was wild in the end is that Saudi goal was basically meaningless. Mexico needed 1 goal before they score (to be +1 on GD) and they needed 1 after they scored to be +1 on goals scored vs Poland (GD would have been the same).

Ok is it goals differential -> goals scored-> fair play?

For future reference

There's this show on TasteTV (or something like that) where this dude travels around Mexico eating delicious food, but it happens to be sponsored by Costena so everytime he gets this authentic dish he's over there getting out a jar of Costena salsa for the camera to see and ruining it....hilarious.

Full order is this:

  1. Points obtained in all group matches:
    • Win: 3 points;
    • Draw: 1 point;
    • Loss: 0 points;
  2. Goal difference in all group matches;
  3. Number of goals scored in all group matches;
  4. Points obtained in the matches played between the teams in question;
  5. Goal difference in the matches played between the teams in question;
  6. Number of goals scored in the matches played between the teams in question;
  7. Fair play points in all group matches (only one deduction can be applied to a player in a single match):
    • Yellow card: −1 point;
    • Indirect red card (second yellow card): −3 points;
    • Direct red card: −4 points;
    • Yellow card and direct red card: −5 points;
  8. Drawing of lots.

#4-6 are when 3 or more teams are tied

Another reason to hate Argentina they failed to score a goal on Mexico's behalf that was wide open toward the end of their game.😉

Perhaps you’ve already forgotten about the shit PK attempt in the first half for Argentina.

ALSO, if you are blaming Argentina, then it’s the 3rd time in the last 16 1/2 years that Argentina has knocked México out of the World Cup.

Not entirely meaningless as the Saudi goal meant Poland got in ahead of Mexico off goal difference rather Fair Play. While it would've only been fitting to see Mexico eliminated for that kind of shit, it's probably better for the sport to have it done with something like GD.
