The Undercard: Fiesta Bowl: Michigan Vs TCU

Fiesta Bowl: Michigan vs. TCU, NEW YEARS EVE, ESPN, 3 p.m.

We are a day away from the playoffs, and TCU just can't stop talking shit. It is almost like they forgot that they just lost their last game. (Kind of like one of the other playoff teams).

Quote

"It has been talked about in like every other article — we’re way faster than any team that they've seen. What comes with speed is power. I feel like it’ll be different for them,” Hodges-Tomlinson said at TCU’s media day on Thursday. “They're a solid team, so we'll see how it goes.”

Hodges-Tomlinson said that TCU is different than any team Michigan’s faced this year, but Michigan isn’t different than anything TCU has seen.

“Not at all. Just understand that they're in the Big Ten, they like to talk about size and stuff like that. At the end of the day, size does not play a role in football. We're just ready for the job at hand. I hope the best for them, I just want them to understand that we’re coming

As a Michigan fan Duggan makes me nervous, I think he will hit a few deep balls and convert some 3rd and should have never been converted, with his legs. Michigan played bend don't break against O$U and slowed down what should be a better offense than what TCU has. TCU has not faced a ground and pound game like Michigan, I just don't see TCU being able to stop Michigan enough to win the game.

Michigan 38- TCU 20.

Man tcu. May be in for a surprise.  Michigan can run

It seems that all of the hope that TCU has for this game was that they bottled up Bijan and Texas. 30 yards on 12 carriers or something. Michigan had 10 yards against Ohio State in the first half, and didn't abandon the run just kept grinding and got 240+ in the second half.

I guess TCU could sell out to stop the run all game and keep Michigan in check, but I think even then there will be enough play action deep balls from JJ that Ohio State got the same dose of.

TCU is top to bottom a good team. They'll play you straight up and beat you if you aren't careful.

I think Michigan is better but I don't think there's much of a gulf to where they'll need to get gimmicky with what they're doing.

QBs that can scramble on 3rd and 13 for the first down have been beating Michigan for 20 years. Duggan is scary. Their secondary seems legit, but I just don't think they have enough beef to handle the back to back best offensive line in the country, especially when they add two extra tackles and a TE.

This is a game where Michigan could really use corum, Edwards is great, but he hasn't shown he can be that 30 carry back like Haskins last year or Blake this year.

I think Michigan wins and covers. That’s what I’m rooting for as well

I think this is right on. They haven’t seen a guy like Duggan in a while. Stroud is mobile but not a runner like Max is. Michigan should be able to lean on them in the run game but if it comes down to JJ making plays I like the Frog’s chances even after what he did in Columbus.

Fuck TCU. I hope, somehow, Michigan wins it all.

Yeah that's definitely the best outcome for us.  Ohio State fans are gross, Georgia wins too much as it is, and a TCU championship is unthinkable.  The mere fact that the cockroaches made it to the CFP before Texas is harmful and embarrassing enough.

I don’t cheer for other teams in the sense of being a fan. But there are programs that I don’t hate and if it has little effect on Texas, then I pull for them. Michigan is one of those programs. The fact that they are playing those shitheel cockroaches makes it a no brainer.

Why?

Fuck TCU. Please don’t tell me you are one of those if it’s a texas team or big 12 team you root for them type people.

I’m not. But I’m also not one of those if you aren’t Texas you are a fucking cock roach and you’re all trash types either.

Frankly, I admire what they have done on the football field with zero built in advantage. I mean they have 10k students, about half of the next smallest school (Baylor). They’ve been a significantly better program than ours (and we have every possible built in advantage) for going on nearly 20 years now.

Their fan base isn’t dipshit Aggies, or rape cover up artists, or meth head Sooners. They don’t have a dickhead in control like that asswipe at UH. I know a bunch of people from TCU and at least the ones I know are all good people. Yea they get in our face sometimes but so what. Frankly, our dumbass program deserves it.

So what I see is a small school in a cool city minding their own business and just trying to be good at football. And frankly punching way above their weight doing it. And the actual grown up in me can respect that. So yea I’d like to see them do well today.

Thanks for answering and I understand your rationale.

But fuck all that. And fuck TCU :)

Fuck TCU and this joke of a conference.

Stop being a baby. I respect TCU. The only team from Texas to have gotten to the CFP so far. Even after we move to the SEC, XII will be the conference that I will be most interested and have the biggest desire to watch after the SEC.
