Dude I don't know what your bright-line test is for some of those qualifications but Shane 100% voted for Trump if he voted for anyone this last election. All of those guys did.

I never saw or heard of him before the twit-X flurries last week after the ESPYs.  I found his routine a little trite and contrived but his adenoidal memememe Trump impression (you can do it anybody can do it just don’t move anything but your hands and refer to “people say” this and that). He’s kind of like a good order of fries; not that good for you but you eat all of them. He’s no Katt Williams but he’s not bad.

Shane Gillis is an ok comedian, he admitted himself he bombed both SNL monologues, but Derka’s take that all people that don’t like him are social justice warriors is more cringe than anything Shane has done.

For those not familiar with his work I’d steer you towards his Netflix show Tires, it’s pretty fucking funny and has a bunch of the same mid level comedians he falls in with as bit characters.

yeah, you really don’t know anything about him, and you’ve proven that you aren’t interested in changing your mind, which is truly ironic. you are actively doing one of the main things that you hate about right wingers: being close minded, judgmental, and dug in, with zero interest in having your mind changed.

ive posted way more than enough anecdotal evidence to prove that your post is nowhere near the truth, but you simply have zero interest in having your mind changed. you’ve decided that he’s a right wing, anti-woke comic, and you are not interested in hearing anything that might change your mind about that. all you want to hear is support of what you already believe. that sound familiar to you?

you leftists and right wingers are so much more similar than you realize when it comes to this shit.

He's OK in small doses and the maga criticism is far overblown but just too much of a bro-y vibe for me to get into him. The pat macaffe of the comedy world.

Shane is pretty funny at times. My favorites right now are Segura and Jeselnik by a long shot.

Despite Rogan being a troglodyte and Tony trying too hard to be a Nazi, I enjoy Kill Tony a lot. Kam, Adam Ray, Casey are all great. Shane isn’t really part of that though. At least he certainly didn’t come up through it even if he’s on it now.

Not even close which is why I said it was low hanging fruit.

Not very many comedians don't make fun of people in their audiences, hell, junior high kids have this perfected which is why once again, I called it low hanging fruit.

Anyone who actually believes shit like this about themselves is a horrible human being.

This is kinda where I am with him. I've seen some good shit from him but regardless of politics the bro thing is annoying and gets old quick. The Pat Mcafee comp is pretty good, there are some clips out there from his show that are genuinely interesting, but I can't fathom watching him on a daily basis for hours on end. The clips of Gillis from his shows are better than his standup, more controlled delivery.

I saw clips of the trump-biden show that was pretty good and followed up by watching some Kill Tony and it was okay. I thought Kam Patterson was pretty funny, some of the others were too, but Kill Tony himself is painfully bro-y is just unfunny. To the extent there is some perception of Gillis as some maga idol it almost certainly comes from his close association with Rogan, Tony, and that crew (especially when Tony went full racist with a really stupid joke about Puerto Ricans). I've seen some clips where he sort of distances himself from that perception and I believe that he's far more normal than those shitstains. Either way, Derka's over the top love post is kinda creepy.

Maybe I haven't seen enough of his act, but he comes off as a guy who generates a lot of headlines for a pretty mid comedian.  He doesn't elicit nearly enough chuckles when I watch his specials for me to keep seeing him pop up in my feed with somebody having a hot take on whatever he's done this week.

He's sort of the anti-Bill Burr in the sense that my sides hurt at the end of every Bill Burr special, so if people want to have an angle on this bit or that, I'm fine with it since in total Burr is fucking hilarious.

Shane Gillis is hilarious. Tires is a masterpiece.

If you think he's not funny, then just watch his bit about going to Mt. Vernon and George Washington. Or his bit about his uncle with Down Syndrome, grilled cheeses, the Special Olympics and John Cena. If you still don't like him, then fine but I think he is very funny.

Segura is fucking terrible. He was kind of funny years ago but transformed into the most unlikeable preachy hateful comedian out there, which is even worse because he only is where he is in life because of his rich dad paying for him to breakthrough.

I think Segura's stand up is funny but he's also at a wealth point that he can't talk about anything related to normal people. I also stop any clip if he talks about Texas and Austin like he's a native when he's lived here for 5 minutes.

I was big on Segura maybe a decade ago but I haven't really listened to him at all in the past couple of years. I should probably check some of his newer stuff out because I really liked him in the past

He grew up extremely wealthy already.

I saw Gillis last weekend, it was the funniest stand up show I have ever seen. I laughed my ass off. Also, Dave Atell was one of the openers and he was outstanding as well.

Tom Segura also is hilarious. If you think his bit on do not vacation where they film the First 48 is "kind of funny," then I'd like to know who you think is "actually funny".

I think that's part of the problem with podcasting. You just have to talk and talk and talk and 75% of it is "who cares." He is a great stand up.

I also think his friendship and dynamic with Kreischer is very entertaining, even though I don't think Bert is very funny and he would annoy the shit out of me in real life.

everything you just cited is super old. tom segura let the fame and success go to his head big time, and he hasn’t dropped anything worth watching in years. you add to that his hyper inflated ego and outward disdain for his own fans, and yeah, he sucks. i used to love the guy, but he’s a prime example of someone who changed with fame. just ask that delta employee who *gasp* asked him to check his bag, or all of the “poors” who didn’t appreciate the way he treated her.

Okay, even though I know how this will go, I will respond.

I saw him in Birmingham a few years ago, and his opening line was "When will they stop taking our Confederate monuments away from us?" And then he did a long bit about how he looked up how many there are and it's a lot - it's way more than you could possibly imagine. It was excellent.

Sledgehammer, his 2023 special, is funny. Bad Thoughts was awesome. The one parodying Garth Brooks is genuinely outstanding.

I think it's pretty obvious that his "outward disdain for his own fans" is a running gag that all of his fans know is a joke.

Anyhoo, Tom Segura is an excellent standup comedian and I like him so there.

Bert is an absolute asswhip, but seeing Segura just run circles around him is gold.  The videos they made, the one of Bert.  Genius
