If there was some kind of miracle drug that improved the physical stamina and mental acuity of 80 year-olds, A) Trump would be on it, and B) it would be sold in every drug store and Walmart across the nation.  I’ve challenged a couple of relatives to tell me what drugs Biden will be on, because I…..have a friend who is about to hit 50, who might benefit from such a drug.

They have made such a big deal about Biden at the state of the union. Watching live, I just thought he looked like typical Joe Biden. I was more surprised at the language of the speech. But Joe himself was just typical Joe, IMO.

He WAS just typical Joe.  But these fucking morons have just accepted, unquestioning, as FOX and OAN and Trump tell them repeatedly that Joe is a comatose corpse.  So, they are stunned when they see him and he's.....not comatose.  "Lurlene!  Didja see that?  Ole Sleepy Joe actually said words!  He must be on the cocaines and the speeds and whatnot!"

I see ads for this shit all the time at the drugstore.  Maybe they are giving him large doses of this so we can all say, "look at the big brain on Biden".

He’s both somehow a criminal mastermind running the Biden crime family and a senile old man who doesn’t know where he is

It's the ultimate proof of "Cognitive Dissonance."  Reminds me of that SNL sketch about the pro-drug Olympics where Nealon says, "Not only are performance-enhancing drugs allowed, in fact----they're encouraged."  How can Biden be on the Bradley Cooper drug "Limitless" but also wander off into the forest during public appearances?  I get the duality of belief.  I know it's likely not true in one part of my brain, but I give myself over to a higher power in another part of my brain to help me with my own shit.

But how is Biden hopped up on super-drugs, yet stuttering into senility, while running a deep-state criminal empire, yet falling down staircases while beating an Orange God in most swing states?

We all rationalize bad decisions because we're human.  But at some point, we at least become self-aware enough to know that we're full of shit on justifying this next piece of cake, next cocktail, next porn search.  We do it anyway, but at least we know.  Are these fucking idiots just stepping over the justification portion of crisis management, or do they legit not get what they're doing?

Yeah, I know we've discussed this ad nauseam.  Plenty of people who know who they voted for and why and live with the justification of why they did it.  Millions of Americans can justify crimes, adultery, procrastination, misdemeanors, substance abuse, and self-harm each and every day.  We're hard-wired for it.  But at some point, we all keep doing shit wrong and realize as we look in the mirror and think "You can't keep doing this, you're better than this.  have some dignity."  Of course, most of the time...we stay on the wrong path but at least have some modicum of inflection.  We have these massive, though woefully underused brains, inside of our skull.  So large that we have to come out early due to our cranial size so as not to kill the mother.  There is willful ignorance and then there's where we are right now---tens of millions of people that simply don't know what the fuck they're doing.  There's many doing it for selfish reasons, I get it---just as natural a human behavior as denial.  But it's biologically impossible that there are this many people among us who can contain and worship two completely opposite thoughts and move seamlessly between them at the drop of a hat, depending on the venue and convenience.

Every competent adult I know can speak to a child or an operator and a waiter or a cashier in an appropriate fashion.  They will then pause for a nano-second, and speak to their spouse or a co-worker or friend in altogether different fashion.  It's in our DNA.  We know not to tell the child there is no Easter Bunny, to tell our spouse they're looking older, or the cashier that their service sucks.  We can bounce back and forth with ease, for the sake of civilization.  But there are now tens of millions of Americans who can look at Joe Biden and Donald Trump and are incapable of volleying the ball across the table?  The guy who thinks Nikki Haley was to blame for January 6th because she was on drugs from Ronny Johnson and accidentally released too many sharks to attack electric boats in the Swamp and the other guy is a senile coke addict who can't find Delaware on a map but somehow manages a cartel?

How in the wide wide world of fucking fucks?

Your previous posts, well mainly your reactions to certain posts, seem to indicate you are indeed voting for Trump. But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.

None of us are super pumped to vote for Biden, though I think a strong argument can be made that he’s been a decent president, given what he had to deal with.

I would also venture to say that many of us wish the other side would have put up someone less insane, and moreover, that the other side in general weren’t completely full of (your word) “maniacs”. But that just isn’t the case.

I agree with you completely on the last part of your paragraph.

i don’t know that I’ve ever given trump praise on this site. I could be wrong. When I talked about the Democratic congressmen and women, I guess I did it in a trump thread, but I don’t think I was taking up for him as much as I was giving disdain for them.

i understand your point about it though. And I appreciate a genuine response. 🤘🏻

I'm sure Trump was on something even if only a low dose of ADHD meds or something.

Second, Biden is going to have a hell of a time climbing out of this but he can. he needs two legit performances - one more debate and the convention. then just pound the cold narrative between now and then.  maybe one or two solid stump speeches too.

But the travesty is Biden isn't arguably a good president. That's not even debatable. what he's done in Europe, alliances forming against a rising China, rebuilding the executive, infrastructure, climate change funding, decency, several bipartisan bills, he would have sweeping immigration reform except Trump threatened republicans. The Afghanistan withdrawal was not great but it wasn't going to be great for anyone and every President left Afghanistan for the next guy. Biden made the tough choice and got us out and is now the first president since when, Clinton to have no troops abroad? He successfully helped defend Israel (for better or for worse an ally) from an historic all out attack by Iran. He's one of the primary bulwarks standing against Putin (and if you study Putin he's taken advantage of every US President until now). The man is the most effective president in the last 30 years. That alone puts him on the list as one of the greatest in our lifetime and arguably the last 75-100 years. FDR, LBJ, then maybe Reagan (retrospectively not a fan but still hard to argue against his influence/impact) and Biden, Clinton and GWB after that and I love Obama but he got stymied after TARP and ACA. Biden not so much.

President is always better than presidential candidate, act presidential and you assuage all fears, they need to do the opposite of the basement though, show him behind the scenes, it looked like jitters more than ability during the debate.

I think if Joe is still the candidate a week from Monday he goes through to Nov.    I would put the odds at 75/25 he is the candidate.   Up until yesterday I would have said zero chance there is a change.

Going to be a fascinating 10 days.

I agree 100% with everything you just typed.  Joe Biden is undoubtedly the best president of my lifetime.  And to be honest, it isn't even particularly close.  There are things I would wish had been done better.  But the list of accomplishments in 3.5 years is pretty remarkable.

And now it's time for him to do one more thing for his country--stand down.  Give a gracious speech from the Oval about how it's time to pass the torch to a new generation.  Channel JFK's First Inaugural, except instead of being the torch-recipient, speak as the torch-passer.  It would breathe new life into the campaign.  It would give the Democratic candidate an unbelievable advantage of not just being not old, but also of being the basis for excitement for the future.  It would defeat Trump.

It would save the Republic.

And it's probably not going to happen.

Posted

While I initially treated him as simply the cure for the Tumor Trump in 2020, I've come to appreciate that Joe has done remarkably well given the shit sandwich he was handed.  And has surrounded himself by an outstanding team while Trump filled his senior positions and cabinet with either people that were woefully unqualified and stuck around the grift or were actually qualified, served for 15 minutes, and got the fuck outta Dodge.

It's a helluva gambit, but worth considering and toot-sweet.  Does Biden run on his record, which is strong, while being rather feckless towards a piece of shit like Trump and his record of crime and confidence schemes?  But may not be able to pull it off?  Or does the DNC convince him and run somebody else before August who reinvigorates the party?  It may be better in the long run for the Democrats, but it could also be a roll of the dice that implodes on them and puts Trump back into the Oval.

I think 2032 and beyond, y'all's party should be fine given census, redistricting, and demography shifts.  But that's an awfully long way from now for the old school Clinton-Obama-Biden-Schumer-Pelosi regime.  You're talking about 5 people who'll be in their 80's, 90's, or dead by then.  So I get you wanna stick with probably has a 55% of working to get Trump outta there but you gotta marry that with what might happen to the 8-year period after this election if Biden dies, Harris isn't electable, MAGA nation throws its weight behind a new candidate, etc.  It's a precarious position, and it lays heavy upon the shoulders of an 81yo man who is a great delegating point guard, but not exactly a high-energy team Captain.

Time is always winding down in America.  But I have a bad feeling, that we may be winding down with it.

Instead we have 2 garbage candidates no one actually likes, yet somehow they got the nomination.

It shouldn't be. That's why people are dooming. It shouldn't be close between a psychotic moron who wants to openly talk about installing himself as dictator and dismantling fundamental parts of our country and literally anyone else.
