Yeah I hope that isn’t true. Biden seems capable of doing the job and threatening to have him removed as POTUS? Hmm

Astounding if true:

Reminder that 25th-ing Biden wouldn't have done anything to his status as the presumptive nominee and would have served essentially no purpose but to sew further chaos. If it looks like bullshit, smells like bullshit...

Obama making the call seems like the first major sign of bullshit pot-stirring.  Hmmm if we were trying to pick out ONE Democrat to put front and center of a story like this most likely to inflame people who could it possibly be?  Oh yea the black guy who melted 40% of America's brains by daring to ascend to the highest office in the land.

Hersh was reputable 20 years ago. Today? Not so much.

Also noticed he’s 87 fucking years old. No way he’s connected still

I do like this guy a lot. Don't run from your record of...checks notes...feeding school children. Not being a shitbag should be an asset.

I’ll use that word again, the dude is a wiseacre.   And is gonna fuck them up

Picking Petefor VP is a high risk high reward option. I think Pete is the best politician out there right now, but I don’t know how much him being gay hurts the vote, vs how good of a communicator he is helps the vote.

Not worth the risk. We have the high ground on the issue, can’t concede it.

And even though Twice’s explanation is technically correct, it will have as much traction with most people as our attempts to explain legal proceedings in the Trump thread. Best to avoid the discussion entirely.

It would be smart for Pete to do Fox News Sunday every week until the election. And I think Fox would be up for it.

He's the only politician in America that can go on that channel, calmly and effectively destroy their narratives, and they still happily invite him back as much as possible. Gotta take advantage of that.

He doesn't do the yelling over the host routine when the host is rudely speaking over him. He smiles, waits, and continues with his point in a remarkably engaging way.

This past week makes me feel like this:

It’s a Fox News poll so you know they added that 3% error margin to Trump’s tally.

Fox has legit polling though

Well, an actually reasonable alternative explanation is that he settled a potential lawsuit (that's legit) and the terms of the settlement were confidential, including the identity of the complainant, which is legit and happens all the time in and out of the context of sexual harassment.

Can it and will it be spun the other way?  Bet your fur.  But before entirely condemning Shapiro, the above is a less-feverish explanation.

If a bunch of lawyers were your pool of voters yes

400k and an NDA? No one else is buying that horseshit

As for Walz, the only question mark I can remember is that he was falsely accused of embellishing his rank when he left the Minnesota National Guard. The public affairs officer made short work of the accusation.

I've already seen some swift-boating type shit being pulled out on Twitter, some guy who supposedly served with Walz saying he abandoned them yada yada... I'm sure it'll be hugely amplified and all over the place if Walz is the guy

The way social media was pushing for Beshear for VP, it’s now double that for Walz

I posted social media is going to will Andy Beshear the VP slot and if I could find that post, I’d change it to Walz. He’s liked by pretty much everyone.

He’s one of those Down home, folksy, can talk to those in Philly or Scranton, Dallas or Dalhart type candidates

Heard him on tv today talking about having a Juicy Lucy last night

A Juicy Lucy? You mean a burger that HIDES the cheese inside? It’s a sandwich of DECEPTION. What is Walz HIDING? HUH? Why does he favor corporate communist sandwiches that hide their real agenda?

Another possible plus if you make Walz VP: the opportunity to do interviews on big sports podcasts/shows. He was a defensive coordinator and won a state title while coaching. I bet he knows his shit.

His ability to connect with sports fans and even Barstool Bros (who mostly lean conservative/Trump if I had to guess) shouldn't be underestimated. I bet he'd absolutely kill it and it would make a difference.

Imagine him with Eli and Peyton on MNF.

What you get with Walz, Pete, and Brashear is an actual populist approach to problem solving (in the sense of putting the interests of the common folk first, not in the sense of demagoguery) as opposed to these poseur, elitist fucks like

Vance (Yale)

Cruz (Princeton / Harvard)

Cotton (Harvard/ Harvard)

Desantis (Yale / Harvard)

Hawley (Stanford / Yale)

Kennedy (Oxford)

There are vast numbers of people out there hurting and looking for the real deal, and it’s easy to see that Walz et al are; especially after going on 10 years of ersatz

If the dems pick any of them (Walz would be my first choice) and really lean into that tack, I think they win going away and flip the house easily

White Dudes for Harris update...

"50,000 of you have RSVP’d for tomorrow’s kickoff call and we wanted to take a moment to address this milestone with a bit of emotional honesty.

When we started organizing on Friday, we could never have dreamed that so many of us would come together the way we have. We are a bit shocked. But also…grateful. We are grateful to be in this with you, and grateful to be starting something really special with you.

Ninety nine days from now we have an opportunity to help Kamala Harris make some history, we also have the opportunity to change some minds, to have some tough but fair conversations, to meet other white dudes where they are and to address some things that, well frankly, just haven’t been addressed.

We’re in this together, and a lot of people are taking notice. That’s why Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina, Congressman Adam Schiff, Actor Misha Collins, Actor/Singer Josh Groban and Author Scott Galloway are joining our call tomorrow. They will be joining a lineup of other incredible folks like Pete Buttigeig, Ben Wikler, Josh Gad, Michael Kelly, Rory O’Malley, George Goehl and others."

everytime the messaging is about how well the stock market is doing, I wonder if there is a lack of realization of just how many Americans do not actively participate in the stock market and aren't sitting down watching their 401K rise

  • The median 401(k) balance is $27,376, reflective of how most Americans save for retirement.
  • In 2022, about 46% of households reported any savings in retirement accounts. Twenty-six percent had saved more than $100,000, and 9% had more than $500,000.

  • These percentages were only somewhat higher for older people. Those ages 50 to 54 were the most likely to have a retirement account. About 63% in this age group had any savings, and 35% had saved more than $100,000.
