I suppose he’s referring to all the women and children he has raped and what they may call it.

Basically all Kamala has to do is keep her cool. She'll be prepared for all the outrageous things he will say.

Did they then turn it over to the studio where they analyzed the political ramifications of the gibberish?

He'll call her "nasty" at some point.

She needs to ready and say "It's Kamala....Miss Harris if you're nasty."

I have a feeling she is going to be sweetly condescending to him to the point he either physically lashes out or has a stroke

Everyone has 2016 PTSD. Everything that happened to Hillary Clinton is now going to be the fate of every woman, and the CHUDs that crawled out of the sewers to vote unexpectedly is now going to happen every year. Except it didn't. The world righted the ship last cycle, even with the guy who rolled out the 95 crime bill and was on record being just as much a racist back in the day as Trump. The world still held its nose and pulled the lever. This scenario is totally different. We have to finally let 2016 go.

Mike Pence has his faults, but he's a good talker and decent debater.  She universally won that debate, and her favorability went up after it.

As long as she doesn't take the bait and allow herself to get really aggressive, she will look like an angel next to that lunatic we saw blabbering today.

Hilary did well in the debates, her losing wasn’t a reflection of her debate performance.

I never saw the movie but I got that reference.

I was gonna ask if she was aggy, then I remembered that she was black.

Look, if you're gonna be wrong and/or lie about literally everything, you can't take a sentence off. Even something as simple as an injury to his own ear has to be wrong.

She's going to completely destroy him in the debates. It's going to be borderline erotic.

She should begin with an opening statement something like this.

“Unfortunately Donald will lie so much tonight that I will not be able to fact check him in real time. Therefore you can head to “website” or follow along on social media where our campaign will provide real time fact checking that you can follow along to. This will allow me to answer the questions thoughtfully while ensuring voters are not misled all night.”

Then every so often when he says some bull shit just reference this statement.

That’s exactly what the old regime would have done. Fuck that, she needs to scold him like the spoiled brat that he is. No one is going to go looking up a fact check site during or after the debate, but everyone is going to remember what it’s like to get tore up by your mom when you got caught lying.

Technically, he didn't have to deploy to be correct. Misleading, perhaps, but if he was in military during conflict time (which is always) he carried weapons of war in war (but not battle).

It won't matter.  He'll just claim he won and 40% of the people will believe him.

“Donald John Trump, boy you is cruising’ for a bruisin’.  Don’t you keep on lyin’ like that and make me walk over there and slap the shit out you.”

If you know, you know. Throw in a hair flip and head bob for full effect.

And Biden winning in  2020 wasnt  a reflection of his performance in the debates. Basically,  a fuck ton of people were noping the fuck out after 4 years of that insane fat fuck. That hasnt changed. I doubt the debate (or debates  if he actually does more than 1,and I'm not sure thats  a certainty) will matter much. He has his base. Everyone else hates that  fuck. The more he talks, the more he drives turnout. And thats bad for Trump.

The lies come too fast to fact check. You can't "win" a debate against him.

I think the key is to not respond directly. Like when he starts talking about how he had the greatest economy of all time, say that you understand that people are still struggling to deal with the inflation that came from reopening after COVID, but that things are trending a whole lot better and that you're going to make the economy even better than it was under Trump, and with a little luck, maybe even better than it was under Obama.

That's not at all what you do. The key to the Trump puzzle is the VP. You sit Walz down and ask him how he would respond to everything you know that the orange bastard is going to say. Walz has a way of simplifying things. One thing I heard him say that I cannot remember hearing anyone else say is that Trump froze during the pandemic and drove the economy into the ground. People act as though Biden was in office during 2020 and not Trump.

Everything his base hated about that year was actually Trump but they blame others. You have to remind them that Trump was slow to act and had he acted when he got the info maybe we don't have to take such drastic measures. The checks we handed out were under Trumps watch. The Covid shots were under Trumps watch. Experts were saying inflation was coming long before Biden was in the office. Explain how Biden pulled us out of what was the craziest year I can remember.

You attach him to the issues we are having now and then when he tries to call you progressive you simplify the accusations into terms that the everyday person can understand/approve of how Walz would.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the inevitable turn to 1996 when downballot Republicans start going "Trump who? Who the hell is Donald Trump? You need to elect me to put a check on Kamala Harris" and basically treating 2024 like it's her first midterm election and not a presidential election.

As a Republican at the time, I remember those dark days.  Damn, it was rough.  Going out there and pleading with voters just to vote for a Republican candidate in the House because everyone knew Clinton was going to win and Americans at that time preferred divided government.

And it kind of worked, too.  Clinton won 379 electoral votes.  It was an ass-kicking.  He won Louisiana, for fucksakes.  But the Republicans only lost four House seats and somehow managed to keep control.  And they actually gained a net of two Senate seats (winning seats in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Nebraska while losing a seat in South Dakota (yes, really)).

But here's the thing--you could get away with that shit with Bob Dole at the top of the ticket.  But with Donald Trump?  For one thing, if you try that, Trump's going to trash you on Truth and everywhere else he can get a platform.  Seriously--can you imagine Ted Cruz saying "you need to vote for me to retain divided government so that Kamala Harris has some checks on what she can do"?  Jesus Christ--Trump would be shitting all over Cruz in a second, probably sinking him.

Fucking this.

It's getting harder and harder for me to not immediately turn into a raging asshole and castigate friends/family/co-workers who mention they are still supporting this shit stain in front of me.

They'll say "I can't vote for Kamala Harris; she's a socialist."

But here's the thing--these people are every bit as dumb as the Palestinian protestors yelling about "Genocide Joe."  They don't realize that American elections are binary.  So play into that.

You can't vote for Harris because she's a socialist?  Fine.  Great.  Understandable.  I get it man.  I couldn't vote for Biden because he was mentally unfit.  I was going to vote for RFK Jr.  And now that you're guy is showing himself to be just as mentally unfit as Biden, that's probably what you ought to do.

Can someone explain internal polling to me? Why is it different than public polling and how is it more/less accurate than typical public polling data?

Campaigns will poll different messages and themes, but that's not what we're talking about here.

What we're talking about here is the campaign's version of a horserace poll--i.e., who's winning.  And a campaign isn't going to do a nationwide poll of 1,000 voters like The Washington Post or ABC News is going to do.  For on thing, it's terribly expensive.  And for another, it doesn't really give you usable data.

Instead, they're going to take a poll of a smaller area that they know is pivotal to them.  A Democrat may know that she needs to hit 70% in Milwaukee County to win Wisconsin.  So she may do an internal of Milwaukee County.  And it may tell them that they're fine, or it may tell them that they have work to do in that area.  Or it may tell them "holy fuck--we're polling at just 45% in Milwaukee County; we're completely screwed."

Those kind of polls aren't really meaningful to the general public.  But they tell the campaign a lot.
