Childcare has to be one of the biggest drags to the US economy out there.

It incentivizes people to pay under the table, it keeps people out of the work force, and the front line workers don’t make close to a living wage.

There needs to be public childcare starting at 3. Super head start or whatever. I’d even try and make it 2.

I shouldn’t have to pay more for day care than I would for private college.

Not nit picking here, but the general range of daycare in Houston was 11-1500 a month per kid. You'd get like a 1-200 discount for multiple kids per month, but it's a fucking rake. That being said, private school starts at around 24k a year per kid, and goes up to 40, and I think private colleges now are 25-40 as well.

If she wins NV, AZ, NC, MI, and WI, then she doesn't need PA.  (She'll win PA.  Philly and the burbs will turn out heavy.)

Listen, I'm all for NC being a purple battleground with a douchebag for a Gubernatorial candidate, but I'd rather not have to count on "Well, if we don't get PA we can win anyway with these other 5 states."

His mind is mush, of course, but I don't like the fact that Kamala HQ edited what he said to make it appear more mush-filled.

What did they edit really? They just stopped transcribing his non-answer. I hope Kamala calls him out next week for failing to answer the questions at the debate.

Trump is the kid called up to do a book report in front of the class — yet hasn’t read the book.

I agree on NC.  I think GA is more likely.  If she wins GA along with the others, she can still lose PA and NC.

I just don't think she loses any of them.

I don’t either, but I also think pollster methodology has over corrected after the 2016 surprise and they are exaggerating Trump support.

Well, I'm glad you're confdient. The stubborn lack of any kind of movement in PA is concerning AF to me.

There is also the hidden vote after Dobbs.  It's been consistent in that all of the polls under represent the Dems by 5-8 points.

Not that public ed doesn’t have its own host of problems, but I’d be for rolling it in to public ed, but make it optional until K so that parents that have the means and desire to stay home can still, but also give those without the means the ability to go back to work. Also do away with summer as a long break so that those families done have to find a place to pay $500 a week all summer and wipe out any of the income they made during the year. Also extend school after hours (optional), especially at the younger ages so because 8-3 doesn’t really line up with any adults work schedule, and wtf are you supposed to do with a 3 year old after they get out of schoool. Divert about 1% of the defense budget away to bump teacher pay, hire more teachers for the new pre-pre-K grades and extended optional hours

The Snake Diggity Education Bill:

Public education starts at age 2

Mandated student:teacher ratios no greater than 5:1 for preschool (age 2-4), 10:1 for Elementary, 15:1 in Middle school, 25:1 High School

Guardians receive a total of 6 months paid parental leave from their employer plus an additional 18 months unpaid parental leave (for a total combined 2 years leave), and can borrow up to 75% of their prior year’s income interest free, with the principal being deducted from future social security payments spread over the first 5 years of receiving SSI.

Imagine investing in our human capital (our children) by providing them 1) a safe place to be during work hours, 2) basic nutrition (breakfast and lunch for 3 yr olds is super-cheap), and 3) even some initial play-based education, reading time (yes, read books to young kids, it's an easy way to fill time and stimulate their brains).  And then layer on the fact that you are freeing up our adult human capital to work (because they have a place for their kids to go), get a degree to better themselves, etc.

If we invest in our people, the ROI is incredible.

But nope.  We won't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever do anything like what I just wrote.  Because SOCIALISMCOMMUNISMMARXISMWOKEIFYOUCAN'TPAYFORYOURKIDSDON'THAVETHEMBUTATTHESAMETIMEWEAREPROFAMILYANDWANTYOUTOHAVELOTSOFKIDS!

I'm really sick of hearing the phrase "path to victory."

Why can't we just beat the orange shitstain like a drum?

Oh....no.  What we NEED to do is a lot more than that.  We need to fucking destroy, humiliate, and ruin him, driving him into exile.

But we won't.  We'll still probably find a way to lose this, because enough of our fellow Americans are the perfect blend of gullible, stupid, and ultra-shitty human beings.

When our kids were in day care, a year of day care cost more than a year of college tuition in 8 of the universities in the Big XII.

To be fair, the education at the average day care is probably higher quality than, say, Texas Tech.

A good Republican answer to the child care question was provided above: lower taxes so that people keep more money in their pocket so they can afford day care.

A good Democrat answer is provided by Brisket: provide assistance so that day care costs are lowered, understanding that the investment in kid's welfare is good for the entire country.

A bad answer is: "Well, I would do that and we're sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka… But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about that because the child care is, child care couldn't, you know, there's something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it... I want to stay with child care… So we'll take care of it. Thank you"

One month of daycare for one of my kids cost me more than an entire semester of tuition and fees when I went to Texas.  I had 2 kids that required over 70 combined months of daycare.  I probably paid 10x in daycare vs what I paid in total tuition/fees during my 5 years at UT.

Yes, but when you were at Texas, you probably shit your pants slightly less often than your kids in daycare did.  And wiping up people's shit costs extra.  At least, that's what the lady in Vegas told me.

Ok, be critical all you want, but do you know how long it took his handlers to coach him for that answer.  His initial impulse was "just threaten to deport your nanny if she complains about not getting paid the promised wage."

I get what you're saying, but the consistent fucking stubborness of PA to be basically a dead heat is both astounding me, pissing me off, and the major nagging issue I have with this race at the moment.

There's been a lot said below, but it should be said:

The polls had Oz winning the Senate race by 0.5   He lost by 5
The polls had Shapiro winning the Governor race by 10.  He won by 15.

The polls will never be perfect.  They are actually *gasp* allowed to be off in the Dem's favor.

A day care in the hood would cost you $20 a day, max.

Your kid comes back home with a fresh finger wave, some greens in a cup, and a knowledge of culture.

I imagine one of the worst jobs in America right now would be prepping Trump on policy questions for debates or interviews.

The sad thing is it doesn't even matter what he says...as long as he speaks confidently, half the country will think a non-answer or an answer that has nothing to do with what was asked, is a great response.

Trump Stock.jpg

You think it's crashing now, wait just a couple more weeks when he and some other big holders get to start selling.

We'll know when he specifically plans to sell big blocks because he'll start pumping and/or floating "big news" about it.  That's illegal, of course, but...
