National moods move left and right by a percent or two every year. Both of those states were razor close last time.

I think a lot of female moods will drift Biden's way by more than a point or two in Arizona.

Yeah, the fact that the Arizona legislature is trying to get the 1864 stuff taken care of while Kari Lake and others are pushing to keep it is not going to help Trump.

The poll was conducted from Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28, among a sample of 1,046 adults, 18 years of age or older, living in the U.S. The survey was conducted using text message recruitment and IVR to complete the survey. Since the text messages were sent to random registered voters, the poll can be assigned a margin of error. The survey is intended to represent the voting population in the U.S. The margin of error for the poll is +/- 3 % at the 95 % confidence level. Margins of error are higher in each subsample.

Take from that what you will.

How senile do you have to be to fuck up an acronym that bad?

Sorry to be that guy, but that's an initialism not an acronym.

LOL, polling is broken. + or - minus 3 percent on that methodology, sure.

Yeah I was gonna say- 1000 random respondents = 3% MOE on a population of 160 million?

it's also infuriating.  the nation will simply always be within a percent or two of evenly split because the folks behind the scenes know how to target our brains better than coca cola and nike.  and the MOE is always bigger than the lead margin.  so even if they are right on polling, its still useless.

Since the text messages were sent to random registered voters

As most of us here know, this right here is the problem with polling. There are so many problems with this, both in what it says and what it leaves unsaid.

  1. It was not sent to random registered voters, that's a lie. It was sent to registered voters whose cell phone numbers were on the polling company's list. I didn't provide my cell phone number when I registered to vote, pretty sure that's not a requirement anywhere in the country. So the bolded above is a lie, or at least highly inaccurate.
  2. The text messages may have been sent to random entries on their list of cell phone numbers associated with registered voters, but they sure as hell weren't answered by random people on the list. They were answered by old people with nothing better to do, younger people trolling them, and maybe just maybe 10% were people who were genuinely interested in accurately responding.

The intelligence/education level of a person willing to answer a random text message survey is lower and skews right

The age of a person willing to answer a strange number calling and then respond to the survey is older and skews right

Scene:  It's Saturday night... Greg is pre-partying at Latchkey before heading to a 10 PM show at Hotel Vegas.

Greg's Date: ...so later we can go over to Dirty 6th and watch Killeen teens fight in the streets

Greg: Sounds great.   Let me... oh wait...

(looks at phone)

Greg: Hold on.  This is a presidential poll, let me answer this real quick.

We are slap in the middle of primary season here in Georgia, just got walk up unsolicited Republican stumpers at the door for the first time.  My wife is talking to them, it's not going well for them.  All I caught of her conversation thus far was "my candidate isn't on trial for paying off a porn star, insurrection, election fraud and racketeering.  How about yours?"

Your wife needs to keep an eye on her voter registration from now until the election.

If scotus rules the president has absolute immunity Biden absolutely needs to round up all trump appointed federal judges plus Thomas and Alito as soon as the ruling comes down. Yes it’s the end of democracy but fucking be pro active for once

One of the biggest things I've learned from this last decade is how deeply people will debase themselves.  This man doesn't believe in anything the dotard stands for except power.  He KNOWS deep down that if it came to it, he would be one of the first on the chopping block, yet he swears fealty nonetheless.  It's just a stunning example of human psychology.

"You cannot have ballots counted after elections are over."

Oh yeah? So no counting ballots at all once polls close? Because that's how that works.

The extreme ends of democrats and republicans will eventually end up meeting. Plotting extremism is a circle, not a straight line.

Well you can't commit fuckery if you allow mail in ballots to be counted early.
