Those of y’all on the mainland that live in cities or areas that get lots of foreign tourists are about to see your local economy go in the tank. The only reason things are okay out here is because we get a ton of tourists from Japan, South Korea, The Philippines and China. Canadians have the pretty much quit coming and Europeans are like seeing Bigfoot. The loss of tourism dollars will lead to thousands of restaurant closures, suppliers with much more product on hand, the closing of clothing stores and the hotel industry will get massacred as well. The f’ing around already happened and now the finding out will happen to Americans while TFG is busy trying to extort UCLA for money and skimming a few billion off the top on tariff money taken in.

I think they don't care that they were duped. Anything liberal, Democrat, non-white, non-traditional, diverse, or atypical is worse than being duped. There was no way to win those kind of people because they don't use logic or reasoning. They base everything on emotions and the most typical one they do that with is hate. Hate is a powerful motivator. Hate and fear. It's amazing how much they love rich people who absolutely hate them and do nothing for them. That's because all they really want to be is rich.

It is a example of  how amazingly flawed the human brain is.  We think we are rational and in control of our thoughts but the truth is the human brain is a bolt on project with the “rational portion” physically mounted on the same rudimentary brain that runs a lizard.  Its like if modern computers where just TSR-80s with sodered on GPUs but still running through a Z80 processor.  Fear, hate, hunger, sex.  That is what is really running the show and making decisions for the masses.

They sure did. I’m eagerly awaiting the regret posts we’ll be seeing from people as our economy spirals out of control while prices keep going higher. What a time to be alive to see 80 million buffoons get exactly what they deserve.

BTW, I loved my TRS-80 as a kid. I wish I still had it.

Well, under oldlaw, "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills."

It's cute that you think the Japanese, Chinamen and KO-reans are going to keep coming.

The U.S. military is preparing to activate several hundred National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., on Monday, a Defense Department official said. President Trump, who has repeatedly threatened a federal takeover of the nation’s capital, was expected to announce the deployment at a White House news conference on Monday.

Mr. Trump has claimed that crime is “totally out of control” in Washington, even though officials announced in January that violent crime in the city was at a 30-year low.

On Monday, Mr. Trump is expected to say that up to several hundred District of Columbia National Guard personnel will be sent to support law enforcement officers in the city, the Defense Department official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters. No other details were available early Monday.

Here’s what else to know:

D.C. deployment: Mr. Trump had not approved any official deployment orders for Washington as of early Monday. In a Truth Social post Monday morning, Mr. Trump said: “I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN!” Unlike a state’s governor, the District of Columbia does not have control over its National Guard, giving the president broad leeway to deploy those troops. The Trump administration also plans to temporarily reassign 120 F.B.I. agents in Washington to nighttime patrol duties as part of Mr. Trump’s crackdown, according to people familiar with the matter. Read more ›

Viral claim: Mr. Trump’s most recent threats to take control of Washington came after a prominent member of the Department of Government Efficiency reported being beaten in an attempted carjacking. Mr. Trump shared a photograph of the victim, Edward Coristine, a 19-year-old software engineer, on social media last week and wrote, “If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City.”

Other deployments: The troop activation in Washington comes after the deployment this summer of nearly 5,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles with orders to help quell protests that had erupted over immigration raids and to protect the federal agents conducting them. All but about 250 of those National Guard troops have since been withdrawn. And in his first term, Mr. Trump called up National Guard soldiers and federal law enforcement personnel to forcibly clear peaceful protests during the Black Lives Matter protests after the police killing of George Floyd in 2020.

So, let's see....crime is lower than it's been in 30 years.

And the man who blamed Nancy Pelosi, and her alone, for not deploying the National Guard on January 6th to secure the Capitol in DC....is now deploying the National Guard unilaterally, something he has insisted for years he had no ability or authority to do.

And the people who voted for them don't just not mind the the constant lying and authoritarianism, they LIKE IT.

Guys, y'all do realize now that there are some situations you end up in that are so dire the only way out is to shoot your way out, right?  Pick up a history book or two.  Read, reach your own conclusions.

I'm telling you, this is a test case for him to see how far he can push this agenda.  He wants to move the homeless out of the city and go after this "out of control crime" he imagines.  I don't go into the city often but when I do I feel safe.

The city is largely fine. We have a teen truancy problem that has been bedeviling the MPD for the summer, but using curfews, they've slowly been getting a handle on it. It tends to manifest as these huge teen events that spiraling into blocking traffic, fighting, eventually somebody fires a gun, everyone goes home.  The broken DC criminal code and some unfortunate post COVID crime reform proposals mean the city has probably been a bit too lenient on property and minor crime for too long, but again, the Mayor and MPD are working through that.

But it doesn't require militarizing the gotdamn city.

Are there riots in DC that I missed or something? This seems to be completely out of the blue, and also we’re not talking about the Epstein stuff anymore so that’s strange.

No.  We've had a couple of teen meet ups that have turned violent, particularily in the neighborhood that a lot of Trump staffers live in (Navy Yard).   The criminal code is a fucking disaster (both too harsh and too lenient at the same time).  In all fairness, Biden's US Attorney for DC refused to bring anything to trial for most of his presidency, leading to a car jacking crisis, but that was dealt with in 2023.  Crime has been plummeting over the last 18 months.  Really is just the teen issue, which is mostly just minor property crime and, for the lack of a better word, malicious loitering.

The Big Balls thing happened at 4 AM. Nothing about it ads up at all. He was probably coming back from a local gay club, but nobody knows, but just like Dirty 6th....what the fuck were you doing out at 4 AM.

Other states are being allowed to do the same thing.

Fox News has been ginning up a group altercation in Cincinnati the last week or so, which I think is really marinating in Trump's mind.

I mostly agree with this. MPD has absolutely been cooking the books a bit, especially around crimes in Adams Morgan at night.

The leniency on “minor” crime and property damage is a problem.  It’s a well known sociological phenomenon that that sort of low-level disorder causes extreme dissatisfaction.
