Yep. Complete lack of perspective leads to a lack of empathy.
A good example was in the “you should have a photo ID to vote” discussions. They came back with “FFS, you even need a photo ID to fly!”….meanwhile, 35 million Americans have never been on a plane. Hell, 10% of minority households are unbanked.
These people have ZERO fucking clue what the paycheck-to-paycheck existence of nearly TWO THIRDS of Americans is like.
Their “poor neighbor” is someone who drives a Toyota instead of a Lexus.

My 4runner is feeling attacked. I do have my eyes on that GX550 Overtrail.

Yea and Lexus is not a luxury brand.

I finally wrested my wife's 2015 4Runner from her by buying her a new VW.  Within a few months my stepdaughter had totally rendered her 2008 Camry as junk yard food.  She has no money, so now SHE gets to drive the 4Runner and I bought a new Mazda (for pity's sake) for me.  FML.  No, I wasn't going to buy her a new car, and maybe with that much steel around her she'll survive the inevitable sideswipes and other bad driving incidents.

Just saw a recruitment commercial from ICE that started “attention  Seattle law enforcement officers” telling them that if they want to really make a difference they should join ICE.

There's a similar ad running in Chicago where they basically say "attention Chicago police - if you're unsatisfied with having to at least superficially obey the law and protect the Constitution, then quit your job and join ICE."

It's repugnant.

Same shit in Denver.

I like golf, but this is so true. Golf bro culture has really taken over the sport. My waking nightmare is having to attend a tournament in person and be surrounded by a bunch of "golf is my only personality trait" chubby dudes yelling "Mashed potatoes!" after every tee shot.

Holy shit is that a thing?? The only golf I've watched is Tiger Woods clips and I remember thinking it was fucking dumb hearing them yell "Get in the hole!" right after the swing. But having to hear this type of stupid shit would be a beating.

People who attend most US golf events are the dumbest human beings on the planet. If you want to watch golf for the golf and not the douchebags trying to make a scene, you gotta go across the pond or pay your way into Augusta.

Stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Portland a couple of months ago. It has really gone downhill since the war started. They were unable to get food delivered in on account of the roaming marauders and firefights occurring in the streets so they handed us a stack of MREs at check-in. The complimentary body armor was appreciated when we had to venture out to gather supplies.

The crazy and depressing part (I mean, it's all crazy and depressing) is how easily Trump wins by normalization. He's sending troops into fucking Portland. For no reason. And everyone is like "Yeah he does that. Anyway...."

If next week he proposed wiping his ass with the Constitution and making the US part of Russia, there would be immediate horror. A few days later, "America is still debating whether Donald Trump should wipe his ass with the Constitution and merge the US with Russia. What do you think? Are those good ideas?"

Another great example. All Trump had to do was say "I heard she never worked at McDonalds", and that became the story. "Did she? What do you think? I can see both sides...." Instead of "Oh wow, see how unhinged he is? He just made that up out of whole cloth. It's really scary that he's the republican nominee."

I guarantee you that he laughs to himself at how easy it is. And it works.

He got away with the eating pets comment in a presidential debate.  There’s nothing he can say that his cult won’t give him a pass on.
