So Trumpkins pissed they cannot deport fast enough. Well one solution. Fire the immigration judges.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — The Trump administration fired 20 immigration judges without explanation, a union official said Saturday amid sweeping moves to shrink the size of the federal government.

On Friday, 13 judges who had yet to be sworn in and five assistant chief immigration judges were dismissed without notice, said Matthew Biggs, president of the International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers, which represents federal workers. Two other judges were fired under similar circumstances in the last week.

Yeah, that is where we are.

Right wingers couldn't trust the media because Fox News told them that all other media, the so-called liberal media, was lying to them.

Then they convinced people that liberals were "the intellectual elite."  They convinced the uneducated that being educated was actually a bad thing, which didn't take much of a push.

The assault on the media goes back to Nixon. Watergate was a vedetta of the press against Milhous, and his hard core follwers (he left the White House with 24% approval which, I've noticed, is a hard foundation of the right wing no matter what they do) never believed he'd done anything wrong. Reagan and Rush took up the attack on the things you so accurately name.

The press, lawyers, unions, Congress, the government bureaucracy are all evil. Now it's dogma for even more than Nixon's 24%.

What was that ol' timey thing we thought the communists did that we didn't do? Oh yea, brain washing.

Good post.

A huge part of why this is such a clustercuss is that it's being done by people that have never had a real job. Trump, Elon, and the nazi kids don't value work itself. They all have grossly distorted views of leadership. They remind me of the Fyre Fest brat. It's nowhere near enough to have some bright idea. People with skills have to labor to make anything worthwhile happen. They're like many of our most dim-witted right wing posters, there's just not a job out there that they respect. They respect ownership and capital. On this board, it's often we see workers dismissed as burger flippers, button pushers, low skilled, entry level, replaceable, lazy, deserving low pay or no pay, etc...This is the mentality of Dotard and Musk.

And the people that puff their chests out the most about American exceptionalism are the ones merrily going along with it because it’s already working.

This was Alex Jones shit back in the last century.

If you insist. Walked into a room full of euros and laid out criticism of both European and American censorship, addressed religious liberty, mass migration, overturning a democratic election in Romania, challenged them to articulate exactly what it is they are defending in terms of our shared values, challenged their commitment to democracy,  and told them that they need to embrace the will of their own people. Big GenX energy. Kamala walked into the same room in 2023 and just preached from the can.

Trump continues to be judged like no other President--or person, really--in our country's history.

"He's transparent and does what he says he'll do...by not focusing on the issues that he campaigned on."

Truly dizzying logic. But it's what the people think they want, so keep it coming Mr. President.

Seems like Anastasis has finally found politicians in our 2 party system that he openly supports.

So, let's assume that reducing government employees and associated expenditure is a good thing.

What might make it a good thing?  Reducing the cost of government?  Reducing the ability of government to "interfere" with daily life?

Assuming either of those things is actually good, then we might expect a reduction in the deficit or lower taxes.

We may see the latter, but probably not further than the already irresponsible 2017 cut, which was mostly ineffectual for the little guy.  Does anyone actually think we'll see a deficit reduction?

I suppose the level of government "interference" is impossible to assess, but I bet  you will see a decline in the quality of government services that is more objective and more subjectively felt outside corporate boardrooms.

So, even if you think cutting government employees and expenditures is good in some abstract sense, I don't think we're actually going to see any of the follow-on effects that really test that proposition.

He's not transparent at all, that's a misuse of the term.  What he does do, and what Biden failed to do, was bloviate excessively about his alleged accomplishments.

So, elections and democracy matter again?

Cool.

That's cool.

I chortled at that part too. Imagine getting lectured about the importance of free and fair elections by anyone who willingly hitched their wagon to Donald Trump.

Yes, but he tells his lies so well!

Seeing reports that immigration judges and staff are being slashed when there’s a near 4 million backlog of immigration cases. I mean it just makes sense to hold the illegal devils in a camp somewhere until their hearing, and we don’t want them just sitting around doing nothing do we? Idle hands and all.

I’ve lost track of the number of lawsuits that the sitting POTUS has against media outlets who said things he didn’t like.  Caroline Leavitt said the AP was pushing “misinformation” at the same time JD claimed that “misinformation and disinformation” are Soviet terms. (He is right on the last one, Soviet intel coined the term and taught its practice).

JD Vance’s speech combined with a meeting with AfD was first red meat for his idiot base and second an announcement that the United States is controlled by the extreme right and it will work to advance the extreme right in Europe.

Which gives Ana an uncontrolled erection. But, you know…both sides. Just a coincidence that every single thing that favors the rise and entrenchment of authoritarian fascism gets him rock-hard.

Anecdotal, but last week a soldier in my son’s class made some horrible obnoxious racist remarks, and when told he would be reprimanded laughed and exclaimed “no disrespect, sir, but a month ago I would have. Now that would be illegal.”

He’s right. And that’s a painful pill.
