I want to start with the shed in my back yard and work my way up.

New coins marking the United States' 250th anniversary begin circulating this week. The Trump administration tweaked the design of some coins and is considering a dollar coin featuring the president.

Illegal, but like that matters.

A spear? Through a door? They just think day care centers have atlatls just laying around?

Trump is retro, apparently.

The US the world thought it knew looks gone.

Or perhaps more accurately, the pre-WWII US is now back: exceptionalist, transactional, and unapologetic.

Or maybe this was always there, just behind a more benign and internationalist veneer.

"Maybe this augurs some new golden age in America — Greenlanders and Danes be damned. But history shows the US can suffer hubris, and with big flexes against Iran, Venezuela, and Greenland, Donald Trump does seem a tad close to the sun."

That Rocker video makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. The most beautiful ending to that vid would be shots fired from inside, through the door, clipping him, his cameraman, entourage, and truck.

He’s just being racist. Somali = black = African = “spearchucker”

Forgot Rocker even existed. Ofc his “return to the fold” is immediately tethered to racial animus and hatred. The man should have batteries thrown at his head every day for the rest of his life.

Remember how shocking that Sports Illustrated interview was? It was so absurd to hear someone famous talking like that publicly.

Now, you could copy and paste Rocker’s quotes to the president’s Twitter feed and nobody would even bat an eye.

It’s comical now thinking about how quickly he was rebuked, shouted down, and mocked for his horseshit.

apologies for the shit quality (lots of SNL skits can only be found thru Vimeo links/etc.), but I distinctly remember laughing my ass off at Will Ferrell playing Rocker on Weekend Update.

2024 job gains (last year of Biden) -- approx TWO MILLION.

2025 job gains (Trump's term) -- approx 600,000.

Man, are we tired of the winning yet? I have kids entering the job market. This is super-great. There's not a single fucking aspect of this country, its culture, or its economy, that isn't turning to pure shit as quickly as possible. Thanks, Trumpers. I guess it's all okay and worth it if we get what you REALLY wanted the most in your heart: gestapo thugs shooting people you don't like.

Even the big voices on the left don't get it yet.

The Republican Party isn't dumb. Stop believing that. They are not bad at politics either. Recent history has obviously proven that.

The disconnect here is that Trump has moved on from party politics. This is now the Trump regime. It's all happening in front of our faces, for the love of fuck people need wake up. Congressional Republicans are just hanging on for dear life.

Yep.

Here is an ironclad historical truth:

You can definitely just walk your way into fascism.

But once you're there, you'll have to shoot your way out of fascism.

We should probably stop walking on this path. Because we're getting perilously close to the "shoot our way out" part. And the treasonous complicity of the GQP can never be forgotten, and must never be forgiven. The clock is nearly out of time on them choosing to be on the right side of history.

Nearly?

If we want people in Washington to DO SOMETHING, the first step is acknowledging that the authoritarian regime is already here. It's not "about to happen", or "we're on our way", it's here. The takeover happened a year ago. It started the day of his second term in office. We are one year in.

So whatever political strategy they have needs to be based on that fact. We're not gonna get any more Epstein files from the DOJ, that's done. "They're breaking the law!" Doesn't matter. The "RULE OF LAW" is gone. "The next administration will arrest them and put them in jail!". They know the legal ramifications, that's why they destroyed the legal system. Elections are next.

If the politicians (Dems and Republicans together) don't figure something out very quickly, then like Brisket said, it's just violence.

So much this. Except I would say it started on Jan. 7, 2021, or at latest Jan. 21, 2021. We just let them steal our country.

They could still break ranks and take real action to block him.

If they were actual Americans, loyal to the Republic, they would impeach him and remove him from office.

Do I think it's too late? Practically speaking, absolutely. But in absolute terms? There's still time for enough of them to get right with the Lord and act to save the Republic.

And to be clear, have I told my children living abroad that, if and when the shooting war unquestionably starts here (and or between the US and NATO), they should seek asylum where they are? Yep. And if that requires renouncing their US citizenship, they should do so. Their future is worth more to me than this nation's future, as this nation has obviously chosen suicide and evil. Any nation that chooses that is no longer worth saving.

It's pretty bleak in here, y'all. Keep your heads up.

Having said that, it doesn't come close to the despair in the transfer thread.

The United States is currently going through Mackovic losing to Rice and blown out by UCLA and then Mack Brown's 63-14 loss to OU and then Strong losing to KU, all at once. So, forgive us our angst.
