27 fatalities in Kerr County so far.  18 adults, 9 children.  Fuck.

Unfathomable. My understanding is that a lot of the adults were in the trailer park which was packed for the 4th. They can’t really get an accurate count of how many total adults were in the trailer park.

the mayor makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry my eyes out. Bless that man.

Seems like Sequin is getting bombed? Looks like a blob parked there, and a friend of ours just sent a video of her streets running like creeks, with heavy rain still falling.

Yep.

Cayon Lake is saving many lives and properties.

if it wasn’t for a super low lake, we’d be looking at even more of a a disaster.

And yet through all of this, the Forcefield holds.

good portions of austin metro has received 3+ inches in the last 48 hours, its not like its been bone dry. Other than taking some of the brunt off of areas that have been pounded, its not like we need more at this point.

Mayor said this will be a hard day thru tears and asked for prayers.

said to follow the city of Kerrville Facebook page for most updates. good to know for those who want to get the latest information,

The city manager at the mic saying they started boots on the ground searching 8 am near camp mystic. Game wardens, coast guard, national guard, dps and so on are all helping with search. There were four girls who have been reunited with their families.

27 potential missing campers from Mystic + unknown number of visitors to Kerrville for the 4th makes number of total missing fluid. They cannot make an accurate count of visitors.

Holy shit.  27 missing children from Camp Mystic?

Yes. And already we have a death toll of 18 adults and 9 children. The bulk of that is from the trailer park. An unknown number of visitors to Kerrville. Unknown number of people in that decimated trailer park. All the other camps are accounted for. They cannot know the total number of missing bc of visitors.

They have names of more of the missing/recovered kids but won’t release those names. 27 missing kids, I think they know a lot about our missing campers. 😢

oh and the adults missing their kids are getting spam calls. There is a special place in hell for the spammers.

Seguin and a good portion of the Guadalupe below Canyon dam. Not great if it continues.

I’ve been really impressed with how this Kerrville City Manager handles himself on the mic and how organized in thought he is.
Don’t know how he is as a city manager….

But he’s A far cry from the county judge who was about as shit as a gov official can be and has been completely absent since. WTF

You only need 4+ inches to cause flooding. It’s not like you wait until it’s 10+ inches to act especially when you are close to a creek or river. Shit I grew up watching brushy creek flood on just a few inches of rain. It doesn’t take much at all.

There is flooding and then there is this. I haven’t seen anyone post they’ve seen this amount of rain/flooding above Kerrville in living memory. Do we know the rain total over those few hours relative to what was predicted?

It feels like Austin television outlets have gone way downhill.  I can only find some hacks on KVUE reporting on this.  Are there any official websites that are updating on rescues, etc.?

All of these media resources and it's apparently amateur hour across the board.

You might check out the KXAN+ or KVUE+ apps.  I have them on my fire stick and they will likely have better coverage.

Go to YouTube, most of the San Antonio stations are live streaming coverage, KSAT and KABB providing good coverage right now

Only thing I can wrap my brain around was a scouting event I took my son to years back.   He got sick and we had to leave.   As we were driving out a massive storm hit and washed away many of the tents/campsites and parents later told us they had to hide in their vehicles.  We spent the day trying to reach dads and family members to make sure everyone was ok.  But this.   I just can’t.

We got caught in a minor flood of the fields at camp Mabry once as kids at a jamboree. Problem was it was near freezing and so when our tent flooded frost bite became a real issue. Older scouts climbed into the troop storage trailer and locked out the younger ones. Luckily a few dads showed up with cars and trucks and let us young pups dry off and sit in the heater. I’ll never forget knocking on the trailer door and some 16 year old assholes said go away. Fuck bullies in their goat ass.

I swear we sat in the car for hours trying to warm our toes up. That was like 2-3 inches I’m sure.

It is getting higher. And a strong smell of natural gas

yeah, that doesn't look safe at all.

there is major erosion going on where the eyes cannot see.   not to mention the loads from the current on the side.

i would not traverse unless absolutely necessary

Where is the water level in relation to the new housing subdivision just to the north of there? They built really close to the river.

Also, given the big jump in level at Travis this morning, I’m assuming LCRA just keeps the dam totally closed to refill the lake? I haven't seen any specific note about that.

It hasn’t made it to that road just north of the bridge, but it was getting close.

if you guys have a ROKU or a streaming device, search for you local station on it. Not for the live channel, but for its app. Ex) KSAT+ app. They’re live streaming on it.
Just FYI

Dont turn on cnn. It will make you smash your tv.

UT alum Ed Lavandera doing a live report now. He’s a good friend and an overall good dude. About the only thing positive I will say about CNN.

Evacuations happening in Georgetown along the San Gabriel River through downtown. Crazy video out there.

Does anyone know what’s going on in Liberty Hill? My Son in law is a fireman and has been doing water rescues and evacuations all night. I assume it’s something to do with the north branch of the San Gabriel?

This may sound trivial in light of all the unfathomable tragedy, but is Austin going to lose the water treatment plants like in the flooding in 2018? I'd like to think Lake Travis can absorb most of this before it gets into Lake Austin, but IDK.

They got 20 inches of rain overnight. The San Gabriel and pretty much every creek and low spot is inundated.

Man, that cell up on the north side of Lake Travis is just wild. Did basically the same thing as the storm that inundated the Guad/SanSaba. Just sat and spun all night.

Hope anyone up in that area is safe.

I have a feeling a lot of Austin area residents are going to know someone involved.

And Houston, and San Antonio and  . . . I’m pretty sure most every poster here is going to have some kind of connection. I already directly know one of the parents of the missing kids and my mom knows 2. Indirectly know a bunch more.

There is LIVE coverage on Youtube right now from KSAT12 (also another channel from WOAI) , reporting from Seguin now but also covering the hill country.
