That is so beyond fucked up.

Is this information handy anywhere? I'd like to share it with certain groups that would find that very interesting.

I guess to be fair, we have to admit that people that come to commissioner's court meetings and rant on things of general interest are complete political perverts.

Not necessarily representative of the people of Kerr County.

Squeaky wheels and all. Doesn't sound like the county's elected officials differ very much on their political views.

It’s a great honor to be here in Texas. I love Texas. They voted for me unlike the communist California where Gavin Newsome keeps starting fires. This flood was so bad that it happened on America’s birthday. People are saying that Cheating Obama and Crooked Joe Biden both tried to fix this river and failed. The socialist democrats missed their chance to make this river safe because they don’t care about Texas. I love Texas. And you know what? Elon should have done more to prevent this but he was too busy playing with his electric cars and crashing rockets. People should have a choice in what they drive which is why I signed the Big Beautiful Bill to get rid of electric cars. Solar too. Our bill is so beautiful and it will make sure that no ugly solar panels or windmills will ever get built at Camp Mystic. The democrats wanted this to happen so they can turn it into a wind farm but I won’t let them. You know what else is beautiful? Kristi Noem. I love her and she has helped rebuild Texas already so we can Make Texas Great Again. I’m going to make this valley more safe and beautiful than it’s ever been and then young Texas girls can work here again instead of Sleepy Joe Biden’s illegal immigrants that previously worked at Camp Mystic before they drowned. Let’s all thank Tom Homan for making sure they don’t come back. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

He'll say he knew it was coming because he knows more about flooding and rain than anyone. He'll then say that Biden's bad policies prevented him from fixing it, but he'll fix it in 2 weeks and it'll be better than ever.

It won’t even occur to him and his ilk that he did fuck all about it from 2017-2020.

"Experts say every state gets millions in federal help — and a little more goes to Republican states and congressional districts.

New York University’s Rebuild By Design, a nonprofit that focuses on disaster prevention, created an atlas of the 795 non-medical and non-technological federal disasters since 2011, which they called climate disasters. It found that every state and all but a few hundred counties have been helped. “It’s clear that climate is not a red or blue challenge,” said Amy Chester, the atlas creator and Rebuild by Design’s director. “Communities are suffering whether you are a red state or blue state.”

After digesting this for a few days, there is so much Kerr County (and with respect to the city, Kerrville) got wrong both in long term and short term to exacerbate this.   It’s not to take any responsibility off of the camps.  But given Kerr County’s unique risk when compared to other counties, they, in short and long term, took every shortcut afforded to them right down to posting the flood risk on Facebook as opposed to actually, you know, calling the camps.   The camps don’t have cell service but they have land lines and radios and internet.  The lack of cell service being a cause is a red herring.  The campers don’t have access, which is the point.  But if the county isn’t warning them, it’s not doing its job.

People can shit on the Eastlands, but La Junta, Honey Creek, and Heart of the Hills were all caught off guard. They just were “luckier” to have been a little further down river and/or not have campers in session.  And as we know HoH lost its leader, too.

The camps have liability here, certainly.  But the county did nothing to extend its resources and awareness of the situation to the campers and tourists in the area.  The comparison to the Jaws mayor isn’t far off.

It's terrible what these poor people went through, but again, I would not have stayed on the river after getting the flash flood warning. Not after the Wimberley flood in 2015. The Wimberley people were sleeping high up above the river in cabins and were washed away.

I took a tour of the Hornsby Bend part of the Colorado River around 2012. They showed us how high a flood rose on the river and I literally could not believe my eyes. It was around 25 feet.

These people's minds are so fucking broken.  At what point are the commissioners and judge liabile for gross negligence?  I used to live in San Francisco.  I moved there for work.  My family is from a tiny west Texas town.  My grandfather passed in 2019, so I took a late night plane in order to get there for the funeral.  When I arrived, the wake was already over, but the funeral director let me in to see the casket before the funeral.  After a few minutes, he started asking me where I lived, what I did, the usual, and when I said San Francisco, he went on this huge rant about what a hell hole it was, Obama, etc.  All while I'm sitting here in an otherwise empty church room trying to mourn my grandfather.

im sure that state laws heavily protect the county judges and commissioners from performing there duties.

it seems like many of the families involved here might have the means to dig deeper. start counting pennies to find find fraud. families are going to want blood

I was in San Marcos when it flooded in the late 90s. This isn’t something new or unexpected.

I dunno.  Listening to the actual commissioners and their distrust of anything Biden, I might not agree with your police work there.

It's not a press conference, it's a political event.  Bunch of fucking egomaniacs stroking their tiny peckers.  Country dead a year ago and now every leader talks about how amazing and "hot" we are.  Trump is such a dumb shit.

Fuck, I hate Ted Cruz and he’s been the closest to normal of any of them both times.  They are all taint lickers though.

Was just in the car for a bit and listened on FOX for about 5 minutes.  The lying and distraction is strong.  The two big nuggets I heard in that brief time were (1) Nothing like this has ever happened before, and (2) the Federal response was immediate and perfect.

My daughter and her boyfriend flew down from Chicago to meet me at Lake Rayburn last week, where I was staying with a dozen or so from my wife’s coonass family. All weekend they kept asking her how she managed to navigate the city under the daily threat of being gunned down.
