How long until a player sues about the NIL cap the schools agreed upon  because we were told if something didn't happen schools wouldn't be able to afford their athletic programs and the plaintiff's attorney simply would use the buyouts list as proof that schools can come up with the money.

The schools don't pay NIL.  WTF are you talking about?

I mean, I guess they COULD pay it, but it certainly isn't limited to the school themselves.  Never has been.

There really isn't such thing as a "buyout."  It's paying the balance owed on the employment contract.  There's two flavors of it, balance owed less compensation earned as mitigation, and "guaranteed," meaning balance owed unconditionally.

I suppose you could have a contract that somehow eliminates the legal requirement to pay the money agreed to for the term agreed to, but that would be dangerously close to an illusory contract:  I hire you for X years at Y/year, but I don't have to pay Y if I fire you, so not really.

Fully guaranteed contracts are relatively new.  Coaches and schools were willing to forgo that in the past because it was understood both sides might want to make a change midstream. Mack’s last contract had a 3.5 million buyout that went down every year he remained at Texas.

Yeah, that's the way you do it, agree to some sum less than the annual compensation, but still substantial.  Still could be challenged as improper liquidated damages.

But Mack was in a somewhat uniquely unleveraged situation there.  A new hire at a helmet school would probably demand something more "normal," if not fully guaranteed.

Almost no coaches got fully guaranteed contracts till the 2010s. And for that matter, almost no NFL players get fully guaranteed contracts. You put an early termination clause in that is agreed to. That’s why so many players try to front-load.

Another bullet point on the Bud Elliott doesn’t know shit slide show: He said Norvell would get fired on Sunday or today. “They don’t like the optics of Norvell moving into the new football facility that is opening this week. So they have to fire him on Sunday or Monday.”

Sure enough, the FSU AD comes out today and says Norvell’s future won’t be addressed until after the season.

I think they’re praying he can find a soft landing and they don’t have to pay the full buy out or he pulls a Napier 2024 miracle and rips off 5 straight wins.

I think LSU is just screwed. T-Bob kind of hinted at it on Barstool this morning. With their NIL investments they have to pay out the string.

"Moving in" optics? Is Norvell signing a year lease? I quit that show week 1 of this year. Too bro-y/meatheaded for my taste. And the B1G propagandizing got insufferable.

All kidding aside, and there is zero chance we would, but I wouldn't be oppossed to giving Mora another look.  He's turning around a tragically bad UConn team.  We had our 3 best seasons under him this century.  Won't happen, but...

you actually filled seats when he was there, but those do-overs have never worked.  See Rick Neuheisel.  Mack Brown.  Brady Hoke.

After ESPN bumped their game at halftime by the tire fire offense VS the 2 retarded Stoops bros defense, to have Elko leave for a program known for institutional pedophilia will break so many fragile Aggies.

Now if the universe wants to align and help out, Aggies drop 1 before us, we win out and the conference ends the season with 7 teams at 10-2.   Playoffs take 6 and leave Aggies out.   That would just about do it for their program, they might quit their beloved SEC and try to find a new home where people don’t yet know how fucking weird they are at their core.

Tony Annese. 138-21 record, 2 JUCO titles, 3 D2 titles. Seems like he can coach. Not exactly an "up and comer" though. But neither was Cignetti.

Someone should absolutely give that guy a look, seven undefeated seasons, ten 1 loss seasons.  He’s only lost more than 4 games once in 37 years, his very first season where he went 4-5.   I would say the guy can coach.

Interim head coach Billy Gonzales announced on Monday that quarterbacks coach Ryan O’Hara will call offensive plays for the Florida Gators moving forward after Billy Napier’s departure. Russ Callaway will remain the offensive coordinator.

“Coach Callaway is going to be the OC, but I’m going to let Coach O’Hara call the plays,” Gonzales said during Monday’s press conference. “I think the most important piece to that is there’s a rhythm piece between him and DJ. I think it’s really important that the quarterback is an extension of his teacher. In this particular setting, for the next five games, I think that’s going to be critical. DJ has got a great relationship with both.”

“I see the same things,” Gonzales said. “Obviously, we want to be more productive. We want to be more explosive. That’s going to be something that we’ll talk about as a staff, offensively, to see what we can do.”

Gonzales was asked about potential wrinkles and changes within the offense.

“I think you’ll see some things that are a little different,” Gonzales said. “I think one thing that I want to hopefully continue to assert in the offense is I think we’ve got a lot of playmakers, and I’d like to be able to spread it out a little bit hopefully and get some of those players involved.”

Gonzales mentioned tweaking some of the plays to put his guys in the ‘best possible position and play to their strengths.”

“We’ve got great players here. If we can get some guys the ball in space and let them work, I think you’ll see a Florida offense that’s ready to roll,” Gonzales added.”

Edit: not outright dunking on Sunbelt Billy, but a little bit of shade to be  inferred.

Have you seen the schedule? It shouldn’t be a miracle to win out.
