There's a mechanic across the street from where I work that I have been going to for years. Honest guy, always helpful, good prices, can't complain. I brought my car in a few weeks ago for some brake work and saw him wearing a MAGA hat and shirt in the office. I told him I can't do business with him anymore and walked out.

Who the hell wears MAGA stuff in a business you own? That is a special kind of stupid.

I heard my eye doctor last year talking to someone in the hallway about the stolen election and he was quickly my former eye doctor. Strange thing was everyone else in the office was either Hispanic or obviously lgbt.

My in-laws' long-time mechanic is fantastic. Great mechanic, fair pricing, ethical. Big-time MAGA supporter. Stickers and shit all over his shop in Richardson. Rails against "illegals" etc. It's nauseating. Thankfully, I bought a new car in Feb and don't need to go see him except for the odd oil change between the freebies at 10K mile increments from Toyota. Probably seeing him in the next week or so.

Anyway, my wife was relaying a story her dad told her last week. The sidewalk is messed up in front of mechanic's house and he's fed up with the city not fixing it as quickly as he'd like so he's going to do it himself. Well, sort of. He told my FIL that he was going to Home Depot to pick up a few day laborers to do the work ... without the slightest bit of irony.

most cities love when their citizens do work in the ROW. I bet he'll get a letter from the City Attorney saying as much

I’d settle for no ads and cash/debit cards only. Truly lunatic to have people going into credit card debt for sports gambling; it’s the definition of negative value economics.

Re: Casinos I think they should be allowed but only in shitty places. Yes, I’m a NIMBY about this. I don’t want my island turned into a casino economy.

I want them everywhere.  Either we believe in liberty or we do not.

With 84 month car notes, constant advertising for refi/ home equity loans, and any of the other multiple borderline criminal activities already going on financially, casinos would would freshen up the place.  as it is, I don't feel so protected, but there is the anti-casino lobby in Texas with me in mind...  bullshit.

I agree with Wildcat too.  Build the casinos.  Make your bets there.  The instant electronic access is insane.

No I do not bet on sports, but I did in my early 20's.

Cool concept of liberty, I think your HOA should be forced to let someone open a combined dispensary, package store, and jack shack massage parlor in your residential zones neighborhood. Either you believe in the freedom to do whatever anyone wants  anywhere or you don’t.

A few local businesses near us display maga bullshit, wife was looking to get ceramic coating on her new car and found a garage that provides that service with excellent reviews on Yelp. She saw a photo of Trump flag in the garage, nope, not getting our business.

He's a cunt who just had to lay off all his employees as Covid lockdowns started but before the PPP and other bailouts to businesses were announced. Fuck him and every establishment he owns, including the Rockets. I say that as a lifelong fan, until he bought them.

It’s a metaphor for the economy.  They are actively hurting their business for no reason other than wanting to be part of a cult.

If I owned that company, I wouldn’t feel the need to put up a Biden or Obama flag. It’s just all so dumb.

Normal, sane people don't do this.  They NEVER did this.  The idea of "I gotta fly a flag of my favorite presidential candidate/president" was never, ever a thing....until a fucking America-hating batshit insane cult was born.

You might see a bumper sticker of a candidate I support on my car.  Maybe a yard sign.  During the campaign.  That's it.  That's what normal, sane, not-in-a-fucking-cult people do.

You can persuade me that casinos have the right to physically trespass whomever they don’t want there. Online books? Fuck out of here. They should be required to accept action on any bet they are currently offering from anyone who wants to take them up on it. Exceptions only for actual cheating or criminal activity.

Don’t like advantage players or arbitrage? Do better with your odds or choose a business that isn’t gambling.

Any book that advertises indiscriminately needs to take all action that won’t threaten to wipe them out.

I started watching Spanish broadcasts of Texas and NFL games a while back. Wish the Spanish ones would shit all over trump in any game he makes an appearance or insists on shitifying the event. I'd even watch the UFC if the Spanish broadcast did that.

There's a car maintenance place near where I used to live off I-10 and Blalock that put a giant fucking MAGA hat on their 30ft business sign. It was outrageous and a complete "fuck you" to everyone driving on 10

Yeah, I see these fuckers in Mx too. They might as well wear a hat that says "Fuck Mexico". That's a truly special kind of stupid/asshole.

It's also interesting to me that the official flag code of the US states that you should never wear the flag as apparel. to me that doesn't just mean wrapping an actual flag around you but putting the flag on your clothes in any design such as this. Now I know people may not like that, especially those where 100% of their tshirts have a flag on it, but if you're ignoring one part of the flag code, then aren't all of the flags rules discounted as well?

I understand that the flag code is more of about guidelines and recommendations, and there is no enforcement or penalties for violating it.

Actual flag vs. flag-themed apparel

Most flag etiquette organizations and legal experts draw a clear line between wearing a physical flag and wearing clothing with a flag's likeness.

Wearing a physical flag: Draping an actual flag over your shoulders or using it as a cape is considered disrespectful by most Americans and violates the Flag Code.

Wearing flag-themed clothing: Items like t-shirts, shorts, or hats that feature the stars and stripes pattern are acceptable to many. The American Legion states that unless an item is made from an actual flag, wearing flag-themed apparel is not a breach of flag etiquette but an expression of patriotism.

The Flag Code is open to interpretation. I don't see how the American Legion has a say in it. And on that note, it's also odd when veterans or their organizations somehow decided that they're the keeper of patriotism and flag rules.

I was just sharing information. They have no more authority than you do, but just the common background as veterans.  You can kill the messenger all you want, but the substance is still there. Many many people would disagree with your earlier post WRT wearing images of the flag.

I believe we had a similar discussion back before the Army Navy game, when somebody on here thought they had a gotcha moment towards the academies for their use of the flag on the uniform. Yeah. Not so much.
