The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Dump sending his stooges to "depose" Maxwell - under these circumstances - is the single craziest political story in American history.

Breaking:

WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today issued a subpoena to Ghislaine Maxwell for a deposition to occur at Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee on August 11, 2025. The Department of Justice is cooperating and will help facilitate the deposition at the prison. Yesterday, Representative Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) made a motion for Chairman Comer to subpoena Ms. Maxwell for a deposition at the Government Operations Subcommittee hearing. The motion was adopted by voice vote

Nobody asked for her testimony- we want to know why 1000 FBI agents were asked to scrub (I mean flag) all mentions of Trump in the files. Release the files

That one might have broke the irony meter.  Political gamesmanship is all his party does.

Mike Johnson is just itching to get down to South Beach to suck as many dicks as humanly possible for the rest of the summer.

Fortunately, his son will be monitoring his activities to make sure he doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it.

I bet he can conveniently turn it off when necessary like a cop and his bodycam.

So, no one is really surprised by this.

The bigger question, to me, is who in the DOJ and/or White House have finally reached their breaking point and is leaking this shit out, and what's next to drop.

I saw James Comer rule out that very obvious possibility today. Something like “Yeah we’re not offering immunity to a child sex trafficker.” Well, yeah, you certainly wouldn’t think so. Would you.

Dotard is sending Blanche to see Maxwell with knowledge of all the info where Trump is mentioned in the files.

When she testifies she will already have some sort of plausible story where Trump is cleared.

I will give WSJ credit, they are slow dripping info every few days  instead of everything at once.

GOP: Guardians of Pedophiles

I haven’t followed this thread. Too long and moves too fast. What’s the story behind the Democrats not releasing the files when they were supposedly in charge. Is that true or more bullshit from Republicans?

No wonder he dropped the Japan deal yesterday. Surprised he didn’t make it a trillion dollars. At least he has Wall Street to help cover for him.

Trump Live Updates: Bondi Told President His Name Was in Epstein Files - The New York Times

Quote

It was not clear in what context Trump’s name was raised in the files.
Attorney General Pam Bondi informed President Trump in the spring that his name appeared in the Jeffrey Epstein files, according to three people with knowledge of the exchange.

The disclosure came as part of a broader briefing on the re-examination of the case by F.B.I. agents and prosecutors. It was made by Ms. Bondi during a meeting that also included the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, and covered a variety of topics. Ms. Bondi frequently meets with Mr. Trump to brief him on various matters, officials said.

Ms. Bondi and Mr. Blanche informed the president that his name, as well as those of other high-profile figures, came up in their re-examination of documents connected to the case that had not previously been made public.

Mr. Trump, a friend of the disgraced financier until they had what Mr.  Trump has described as a falling out in the 2000s, has already appeared in documents related to the investigation. Appearing at the White House in February, Ms. Bondi distributed a series of binders about the Epstein files with the phone numbers of the president’s former wife and his daughter in them.

“As part of our routine briefing, we made the president aware of the findings,” Ms. Bondi and Mr. Blanche wrote in a statement in response to questions about the briefing. “Nothing in the files warranted further investigation or prosecution.”

Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, would not address questions about the briefing, but called any suggestion that Mr. Trump was engaged in wrongdoing related to Mr. Epstein “fake news” and said Mr. Trump ejected Mr. Epstein from his club, Mar-a-Lago, for “being a creep.”

Department officials have regularly informed some White House officials about developments in the inquiry. Such communications are permissible under the law.

The conversation was reported earlier by The Wall Street Journal.

One person close to Mr. Trump, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity, said that White House officials were not concerned about the latest disclosures given that Mr. Trump’s name appeared in the first round of information that Ms. Bondi released.

It’s typically against DOJ policy to release investigative materials that aren’t used to prosecute someone, except in very limited circumstances (e.g an overriding public interest).

Fox can’t question dear leader…

Should rename the thread to Epstein/Trump files now that we know that it’s the inclusion of Trump that has prevented the files from being released.

Ok…so why is it different now?

Because Donald Trump is President, Pam Bondi runs the DOJ, and everyone who would tell her no that's against the rules has resigned.
