I am going to be a contrarian here. The  logistics of the delivery with this vaccine require the people who have been allotted doses to get their doses. The Pfizer vaccine has a very short working life, and comes in 5 dose vials. You can’t just take Omar’s (or anyone else’s) dose and give it to a random EMT, ICU nurse or nursing home resident. You can disagree with how the vaccine has been allocated and distributed, but if people start refusing their doses it will not have a systemic effect of speeding delivery to others, and it actually increases the chances of vaccine doses being wasted

Has there been any updated info on the odds of survival once a patient is put on a ventilator?

In May, it says about a 70% chance of survival, but ventilator use has decreased significantly since then and developed better therapies and treatment paths.

Yeah I was wondering if there had been some updates since they stopped using them for as many cases. My uncle had to be taken to the hospital this morning and just found out they put him on a ventilator after trying an oxygen mask for a few hours. Got diagnosed covid 2 weeks ago and has been pretty sick but was feeling better last two days until early this morning

Well how easy has it been on the families of those that died or were sick or unemployed?

Dr. Deborah Birx to retire, citing Thanksgiving backlash: 'It's been very difficult on my family'

Dr. Deborah Birx, the coordinator of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, on Tuesday said she plans to retire in the near future, citing the backlash she’s faced since it was revealed she traveled out of state during Thanksgiving weekend.
Dr. Birx told Newsy in an interview that she plans to be “helpful in any role that people think I can be helpful in” during the incoming Biden administration but that she will eventually retire thereafter.
“I will have to say as a civil servant I will be helpful through a period of time, and then I will have to say that this experience has been a bit overwhelming,” she said. “It’s been very difficult on my family.

Well all I can say is "Operation Warp Speed" will be looked back at as an absolute shit show, administratively.  The near complete lack of planning is laughable.  I Honestly sort of laughed at Biden two weeks ago on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace when they tried to make Biden look stupid by the " get the virus into the arm" (paraphrase quote) video clip.

I can't tell you what is so fucked up about it now.  But it will be fairly well known in a few days, or weeks.  Basically there is no plan from the Federal government, other than Vaccines will be available.  I mean that is really the totality of the Trump administration vaccine plan. At least as far as getting it into the arms of the people most vulnerable.  It's sort of funny in a sick way.  Everyone is waiting for instructions, waiting for the instructions...and the instructions simply never come.  A new conference, a twitter post, but little to no fucking actual planning.

So many extra lives lost, due to Trump administration incompetence. So fucking many unnecessary dead!!!

My college student daughter just went OFF on politicians getting the vaccine. “Who the fuck do they think they are? They’re not better or important than anyone else!” She did concede that the POTUS and the immediate line of succession as CINC should get them as a matter of national security....but that’s it. “Congressman and senators and governors? Who the fuck are you? You’re just us - you’re literally our representatives. Lead by example and get in line with the rest of us.” She went on to explain that no matter how hard she’s worked for Dems the past four years, she’s happy to rip into them for failing to lead by example.

What the fuck happened to leading by example? To showing the virtue of sacrifice and patience by your example? To putting yourself at risk to show the troops that they can and should follow you to the gates of hell? We have an absolute across the board crisis of leadership. Adler, Newsome, Rubio....all of them. Who has the fucking integrity, honor, and courage to lead from the front? Fucking nobody. We’re a nation of selfish, stupid cowards....and I guess we’re getting the leadership that matches our character.

Reading this gives me hope that the next generation will clean up the clusterfuck created by my generation.

The cynicism of Gen Z makes Gen X look like optimistic sunshine pumpers. I'm proud of them. It really warms my cold black heart to see.

Gen Z has known nothing but a US at war in the middle east, multiple MASSIVE economic recessions, increasing higher ed costs, and widening inequality. But goddamn if their memes aren't dank

Somebody please put commas in those numbers, dumbass anti-vaxxers are gonna look at that and see "only 9.465 doses distributed, that's not even ten.  What is this a vaccination program for ants?"

He's playing golf in Florida.  Not signing the bill that took the Republicans months to finally warm up to (because Mitch is worried about Georgia).

Fiddling while America burns.

Not saying it's still not bad but there is one thing a bit clugy about that data.  I follow the Tarrant County site pretty regularly and the highest total WEEK of cases was back the week ending 12/5 at 12,721.  That's 1817 a day, or even if you go by business days it's 2,544 a business day.  That site has us at close to 3.5K a day this week and TC hasn't made an update since Wed (where they reported 1702 and were at a total week to date of 4696....4 days)

Again not saying it's anything but bad but I imagine holidays are fucking with some of the recent data pretty good.

They really need to change the color scale on that map.  It makes it look like Dallas, Austin, Houston, etc. are the worst and yet it's the more rural counties that are ringing the bell in terms of cases per 100K people.  Rainbow scale, why you not use it?

Yep, look at Hays and Comal. And that means they are just adding to the burden of San Antonio and Austin. San Marcos is wide open and no one gives any fucks.
