So if they come up with a law that says if your skin is darker than a certain level your bail is doubled, and people call that the Bigger Bail for Blacks Bill, is that political calculations or just a descriptor of what ignorant bigots have done yet again?

Name any bill you’d like, the other side will change the name to fit their narrative. It’s just the way it works.

Kids have families. This fact happens to come up at school. It doesn't have to even be about marriage. And marriage doesn't equal "sex." As some well know.

So no one should be mentioning their parents I guess, since some kids have same-sex parents? Or are just the kids in an LGBT family not ok for the teacher to engage with t on these topics that casually come up all the time?

Public schools are for everyone. Every kid. Every family. Every student should feel safe and welcome. Private school or home is the place to indoctrinate kids otherwise.

My son has two moms. Ever since he's been of school age, I have never wanted him to feel shamed, singled out, stigmatized, less than, or othered due to that fact.

Imagine that.

You lucky son of a bitch.

There are other options for those who don’t like Desantis and Florida.  He’s popular and Florida is redder than ever.  It’s trending from purple to red.  More people should vote with their feet.

There are plenty of states that will teach all the transgenderism you want.  They’ll have their in-school pride parades and ask kids to announce pronouns.  Different strokes for different folks.

That’s interesting. I live in a suburb of Houston where there isn’t any interaction with homosexual couples. They’re here, obviously, just few and far between.

Tell me you live in Kingswood without telling me you live in Kingswood lmao. Say hi to chrispy for me

Sure seems weird if he’s so popular and Florida so red why the intense gerrymandering.

Press your advantage I guess.

Exactly. Or have other reasons. My ex and I have joint custody of our kids. I’m really really tired of 73 IQ bigoted fuckshits ruining this state but can’t really leave at least until kids are college age without trying to coordinate both of our families moving, all 4 of us new jobs etc.

It’s not the poor pushing for public schools to embrace radical gender identity to 5 year olds.  It’s wealthy white liberals.  The poor largely don’t like it any more than I do.

White wealthy libs and their luxury beliefs.  Like defunding police.

Yeah fuck democracy for sure!! And this affects way more than transitioning kindergarteners. Don’t be a pile of shit.

What’s going on in Florida and their educational choices is democracy.   Desantis is more popular than ever.

Purple haired freaks don’t like it. But they are in the minority.

Talking about going to a parents wedding is “radical gender identity”. A book that has a man hugging a man is “radical gender identity”. Just fucking lie after lie after lie after lie after lie.

He’s so popular he can’t accept an already gerrymandered redistricting map that probably would stand up and forces one that will likely lose a court challenge. That’s democracy in action right there

It’s meant to bully kids who are different, or who have parents who are different.
It’s culture war by attacking the most vulnerable. The cruelty is the point. It always is.

How many gay/trans were killed by this law in the time it took you to type this post? Too many to count.

Ok so you live in Florida. Have you talked with your ex about how important it is to leave the state due to this abhorrent law? If she feels as strongly as you it shouldn’t be that hard to get on the same page and move somewhere nice like Illinois or Minnesota or Washington state that isn’t as expensive as NY or CA.

Oh, I'm sorry, are we saying that Desantis should be immediately removed, or that alternate electors should be sent? Guess I missed that discussion.

Or are we just calling him an opportunistic dumbass engaged in a race to wind up on the wrong side of history?

Your brain is literally broken. For one, backwater social conservatives have directly caused the deaths of thousands of those kids with their hate but let’s laughter about it.

For two, your position is that it should be easy for two married couples to all agree on another place across the country to live, no more than 30 minutes apart, with jobs in 4 different fields all found in the new area, existing pensions/retirements abandoned, while pulling two kids out of the school they have gone to their whole lives? Should be easy!

And no I live in Texas, I know it’s hard to keep track of the states being ruined by 73 IQ backwater cave people.

I really try to consider every opinion with an open mind, realizing we all have different values, thought processes, cultures, etc. But some of you make this so fucking difficult. I am a school counselor and former kindergarten teacher. You are clueless about appropriate child development and socialization if you think kids don’t share about their homes, families and daily activities on the regular. Tell me how it would affect a student if I redirected the conversation after he or she shared about mom’s remarriage , which happened to be to another woman. Here’s a clue: it invalidates them, makes them feel like something is wrong about them. That child has just as much right to share their mom’s wedding as the child whose mom married a man . Imagine this scenario happens repeatedly throughout the child’s education—tell me about their self-esteem and sense of safety and belonging. Tell me what other students internalize when they realize this kid with the two moms is not welcome to share their life experiences. Am I to forbid them from bringing pictures for our family wall when we follow the developmentally appropriate lessons written for kindergarten? I’ve been a counselor for 16 years in areas from the RGV to The Woodlands. I promise you there are many more gay people than certain posters realize. I’m not suggesting we need in-depth discussions of the acts of sexuality in elementary school, but I’m damn sure not going to make a student feel less than their peers because a family member, or the student, likes a person of the same sex. I’m in a conservative school district outside of Austin now as a middle school counselor and my students actually approach this with way more of an open mind than some of you posting.

Thanks for posting and thanks for doing what you do as well. I think you laid out what most are trying to say better than we can.

Sack getting super specific about banned vs removed is high comedy. @Johnny Sack - how often do you think you've posted criticism of defund the police without first acknowledging that it's really about reducing and shifting funding. How often would you guess you've posted criticism about CRT without acknowledging that you don't know what the fuck CRT is?

And given your newfound appreciation for specific language, when can we expect your apology and correction for lying about CRT creator's beliefs and democratic leaders being socialists? This must be top of mind before worship tomorrow!

Why do y'all argue with dudes like this? Johnny Sack hates America and is 100% disappointed that Osama Bin Laden is dead.

Wait, what about tyranny of the majority? I thought you right-wingers were all about individual rights and freedom ... but now you're all for passing laws about speech?

Both @Johnny Sack and @fattyflattie have shown in this thread what absolute bigots they are.  They are all for individual rights and freedoms when it comes to people like them, but if you are a woman or LGBTQ+, they are absolutely ok with the government saying fuck your rights.

You both are horrific human beings.

Hey don’t forget they they are all about minority people opinions as long as they keep doing their hourly jobs and don’t try and live in their neighborhoods. That’s progress, right?

Less than 5% of the population is gay, so it’s just not likely to come up. If it somehow does, you simply tell them to ask their parents and redirect, which is very easy at that age. Telling them about homosexual marriage is really bizarre, and frankly inappropriate.

It’s a non issue to them. It is an issue for you.
Try to be a better person for your kid.

Might be a moot point if books are printed, but maybe the first course of action would be to highlight the questionable text and ask the publishers to change it to be considered?

publishers have to fit their content into guidelines all the time and make changes when necessary if they want to be approved in areas.  One would think Florida is populous enough to have that consideration.

I’ve not read enough to know if this has or will happen, or if it went right to outright rejection as a political stunt.

What I understand is that only books from one publisher were accepted...

Follow the money. It's political.
