this is the best possible outcome for A&M, since their fans are universally about "woulda, coulda, shoulda"

if Notre Dame, Clemson, or Ohio State win the whole thing, they can say "WE WOULDA SMOKED THEM FAGGETS! EVERONE KNOWS IT, SEC SEC SEC"

if Alabama wins, it will be "THEY DIDN'T WANT NO PART OF A REMATCH, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT A GRATE TEAM TWICE IN ONE YEAR"

This is true, IF, they win the Orange Bowl. If.

No, no. See if they lose, it will be because their players were "TOO HEARTBROKE OVER GETTIN' SCREWED BY THE PLAYOFF COMMITTEE TO CARE ABOUT SOME DUMB EXABITCHIN GAME". They's s'posed to be SEC now, they'll have that standard SEC bowl loss excuse down pat.

Hey guys, getting to the playoffs is a waste but us winning a bowl game is a success! Also, if we made the playoffs and got beat by Bama by 4 scores, absolutely no doubt it is a success. Dumb ass aggy. Not one person aside from the gomers in aggyland would wonder how aggy would fare against Bama. We see that game every year and saw it this year. Blowout.

It's like they expect to just go into the Orange Bowl and run all over UNC...

So leaving aggy out of it, I fucking *hate* that teams that just lost to conference champs can get picked for the playoffs. Defeats the fucking purpose of the conference champ game.

Well no, the "fucking purpose of the conference champ game" is to determine, you know, the conference champ.

On the other hand, I agree. Especially in the case where the conference championship game is a blowout.

Comparisons to the ACC and Big 12 are useless this season, because they had OOC games, the B1G, PAC-12, and SEC did not. Maybe that was a shitty decision, but it’s what happened. Their games are going to come out to .500.

You’re basically saying that the SEC lost half its games against itself and therefore it sucked. I’m telling you that’s how math works. Especially— take note— if you have an undefeated team in the mix.  There aren’t ways to get more than half the rest of the teams above .500 if that happens.

Whoop!

What's funny is that since this is the first year the ags were anywhere close to the conversation around the national championship, they are having the exact same conversations the fans of about 30 other programs have been having for the past decades.

Newsflash, "gallant Texas negro killers," your program isn't the first to be denied a shot at playing for the national championship and no, this isn't the beginning of the end of college football.

when you aren’t the best team in your conference you aren’t the best team in the country. No sympathy. Cincy and coastal have a bigger gripe.

the only legit gripe anyone has-- and I would still sneer at A&M if this were the case, because it's fucking A&M, but it's not the case anyway-- was if five legit programs did everything they were supposed to do and that included big-time wins and one had to be left out.

A&M lost to Alabama by 28 points. Their best win was a narrow home win over an unimpressive Florida team that lost to a terrible LSU team. You can make a case that A&M deserved a playoff bid, but it's impossible to make a case that their omission was noteworthy, let alone some kind of travesty. This is what happens to teams that don't take care of business, every year, when it comes to picking a playoff field.

Better programs with better resumes than A&M this year have been left out.

The SEC got a taste of their own medicine when covid forced all conferences to actually play each other.

A&M wasn't even the best team in their division, let alone the best team in their conference. A&M hasn't had back-to-back seasons with a winning record in conference play since the 1990s. The thought that A&M is one of the powerhouse programs in the nation is laughable.

It's telling that there is absolutely zero outrage about aggy's omittance from the CFP outside of College Station. Cincinnati is the team everyone is saying got screwed. They can't even be the best victim.

That is a good motto for the Aggies:

Texas A&M University.  Not the best academics.  Not the best athletics.  But we are the best victims.

Sadly, I think Baylor/Ken Starr have a trademark pending on it already, but for very different reasons.

That 2014 TCU team was salty, and may have the best claim for a screw job. Dropping from 3 to 5 after a 55-3 demolishing of a conference opponent, in favor of brand name tOSU, is pretty egregious.
They went on to demolish Ole Miss (who beat Bama that year) 42-3 in the Peach Bowl, and it wasn’t that close.
They could’ve played with any of the 4-team invitational teams that year. Not sure who would’ve won, but it would’ve been fun to watch.

Yeah, goes without saying. Any adult that went to school in Texas that has half a brain knows that UT has the best PE program. (Or I'm sure would guess that if they weren't sure)

aggy will never make the playoff without winning the SEC championship.  Outside of Texas, they are no more relevant than Ole Miss or South Carolina.  No second tier program like aggy has ever made the playoff without winning their conference championship.   It's that simple.

Only because Art Briles couldn't stop being himself is aggy the powerhouse program on the Brazos.

When you lose a game by 4 TDs to anyone and don't win your division or play in your conference championship as one of the top 2 teams in the conference, you forfeit your right to bitch about your postseason fate. Period.

I live in the heart of SEC country. Many of these knuckle draggers would tell you that if the SEC would just put its top four teams in a winner-take-all tournament, that would constitute a much better national playoff system with a truly legit champion crowned. These fans consider Clemson fairly legit only because the Tigers have a coach with Bama roots and draw from the same regional recruiting base.

Aggy challenging Ohio State to a football game is like a fat guy who took a kickboxing class at the Y challenging Stipe Miocic to a fight.

Plus, has there been a Kickoff Classic game since the 1900s? I remember we beat Auburn in one back in the 80s.

It is just a matter of time before the Aggies start calling themselves the uncrowned national champions who only lost their bowl game because they felt gypped at not getting a chance to eliminate Clemson and Alabama in playoff.

They are so sure that everybody cares about them and would love them if only they could see what being an Aggie truly means. The evil media and fearful football world work night and day to keep A&M from its rightful place atop the college football world.

A reminder to us all that being unique is not always a good thing.
