Zero concern for the fellow human and her dog that just lost their lives due to your boyfriend's reckless decisions. She's literally yelling "look at me" and never has a modicum of concern for the passengers in the other vehicle.

Ok…so that car is probably made of the lightest of light material….probably carbon fiber or something. At 156, or even 128 mph, shouldn’t that thing freaking explode? That looks like a wreck going about 50. Even the brake lights are still working.

Of course she's pissed...she's gonna have to get a job at McDonalds now.

Amazing how he basically only had minor injuries. Like a lot of posters this whole story pisses me off. So preventable and so many avenues for a ride these days. Horrible story.

The thing that REALLY pissed me off watching the video was the bitch shouting "he needs help, he needs help, he was knocked unconscious" all the while the car he hit was fully engulfed in flames.🤬

I may well be the dumbest person in the world, but it was a logical inference from your post.

I thought someone else said the victim was going around 50mph at the time of the accident. So he hit her at a relative 77mph. Not slow, but makes their survival and the condition of the car more understandable.

Its anger inducing. Not much else to say. Heartbreaking for a girl and her dog/their family.

I was a fairly new bartender at the Silver Dollar South in 1980 - working the bar next to the stage - when my boss told me to make sure George Jones didn’t drink too much between sets. The last time he was there, he was too plastered to crawl on stage for the second set. I kept him sober enough by engaging him in conversation and ignoring his requests for another one.

I was barely 19 years old, and it still wasn’t that difficult. My boss had been my boss in San Antonio the previous summer, so I guess he trusted me.

Bullshit, those coke bumps you gave him got him through.

Slight, but relevant derail. I've had my 2000 Vette up to 180 way out past Junction on a more or less abandoned IH-10. When I realized at that speed I couldn't even feel the road underneath me, I backed off.  A few days later I was surfing online and came across stories on Corvette wrecks. Of course those were old compared to now, but every single one looked like a steel trash can that had been thrown into a shredder.  Totally unrecognizable, not only as to what kind of vehicle it was, but whether it had even been a vehicle at all. NEVER drove like that again

Im sure great advances have been made in their design and strength, but still...damn.

I bet he wishes he was at home laying pipe instead out driving around drunk.
Liquor delivery is a thing these days, and I'm sure someone with his money could install a pole and some lights..and rent a few "entertainers".

No excuse for this shit, especially in 2021

Got up to 170 on my sport bike way back in the day. Hit a minuscule bump and completely lifted off the ground a few inches before it glided back down onto the road. Never did that again

I hit the rev limiter on my Silverado at 108 the other day.

I'll probably do it again.

Oh good we're doing this. Didn't want to be the douchebag that started it off. For awhile I had never done anything past 120ish - on empty highways at night. Sober. That in itself is fairly exhilarating.

I've done 130 fairly fucked up. Again on a basically empty highway at night. Yes I have a lot of piece of shit moments in my past.

I've done 145-150 - sober - on 130 during the day. Never topped that and don't intend to as it is difficult to take your eyes off the road long enough to look at the speedometer. 156 is ridiculous - especially that drunk. I can imagine it but can't really imagine 180. That's traveling 88 yards every second. I bet you got a good fucking adrenaline kick from that. Everything is exponential with this stuff, obviously.

BTW - if anyone feels the need for speed I'd recommend doing it in someone else's car. Takes away a fairly big inhibition involved. Not that I'd recommend any of it.

Oh - I've also totalled a car going ~60 into a sidewall on the highway. Not a scratch on me but I had some bad muscle spasms for 2-3 days after it (wear your seatbelts, kids). Going to the tow yard and seeing what my car looked like after that made my stomach sink a bit. You don't need to be going that fast to really fuck some shit up (as Ruggs demonstrated here - given the relative speed was ~80).

What a horrible situation.  The two cars also probably contributed to the fire:  that corvette is so low to the ground and the extra clearance and minimal trunk on the RAV4 probably created a situation where the Corvette submarined under and tore out the gas tank, preventing the crash zone on the rear from doing its job.

Im not a death penalty guy, but I won’t lose sleep if they put him away for life and lose the key.

No question the Starfucker story enrages me. The Ruggs story enrages me. What I share below there are no words for when it comes to bars/their responsibility such as it is when patrons are drunk and should no longer be served. I was living about 4 blocks from this bar in 2017, sitting and watching a Cowboys game with my now ex-hubby. I only share this because while this story is very different in the sense this patron had a mission and was getting drunk so he could gather up the "courage" to do what he did that night there is talk about what responsibility the establishment should have in cases of drunken driving. In this case, the guy drove to his newly ex-wife's house right down the street from this bar and murdered 8 people. Anyway, Sorry for the losses any of you have had because of a drunken driver. There IS ZERO excuses for an athlete who has multiple resources to get a ride. Especially, this particular athlete who has had drunken driving touch his life prior to this in a profound way. I am pissed that a girl and a dog are dead because he couldn't be responsible before going out.

Anyway this is the story I mentioned above (tried not to share too much because wordy and no one gives a shit to read it anyway) (bolded underlined part pisses me off):

"The bar that served mass-murderer Spencer Hight minutes before he killed eight people, including his estranged wife, at an NFL watch party in Plano is voluntarily giving up its liquor license on Aug. 1, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission said Monday. The bar, Local Public House, did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the agreement, the TABC said.

Early in the evening of Sunday, Sept. 10, Hight stopped by the bar, according to a Plano police search warrant affidavit. He chatted up the staff, who knew him well. Then he brandished a knife spinning on the bar as he drank Miller Lite and closed his tab, a separate TABC report released in January said, trying to show off for the employees. Instead, he scared them enough that one escorted him to his car so he could put his weapons away.

When Hight and the employee got back to the car, Hight asked his escort to turn away, police said in a search warrant affidavit. He didn't want the Local Public House employee to see what was in his trunk, he said. Eventually, Hight left the bar, and employees, spooked by his behavior, followed him the third of a mile to his estranged wife's house. When the two-car caravan arrived, the bar employees called the police. The police didn't get there in time.

That night Spencer's estranged wife, Meredith Hight, was celebrating. Her divorce was almost completed and she wanted to host a barbecue and watch party for the first Sunday of the NFL season.

When police arrived, the witness saw Hight shoot at the first officer through the door, she told police. Eventually, the officer shot and killed Hight.

Hight's blood alcohol level was 0.33 at the time of the shooting, according to his autopsy results, more than four times the legal limit of 0.08. Parents of three of the shooting victims have sued Local Public House, alleging the bar over served him during two separate visits on Sept. 10."

The 180 is an incredible rush, until you realize that you're one millisecond from literally becoming a grease spot.  There was a lot of reflection driving home.

Yep. When I got to 150 I made sure 1. There wasn't a fucking car in sight 2. I could see well into the distance on the highway 3. The road was in very good condition

It also makes you realize how silly it is for performance car manufacturers to even make shit with top speeds like that (and what I was driving - an infiniti Q50 - could have gone faster for sure).

LOL - I too was waiting for someone else to post first.  I haven't been over 130 in a long fucking time.  But back in the day there were several times I hit 190-200.  That's on highways with nobody around and cars with radios in front and behind us... with a passenger helping give signals to slow etc.  Anyways, hit a small bump at 180 and it sure as fuck felt like we caught a touch of air.  After that I had enough.  Shit isn't that fun.  Also got a driver for work etc - no more being late and driving like a bat out of hell.  Fuck that shit.  And these dudes can all afford a driver, full time, can be security too for a little more cash...no idea why you wouldn't limit your liability.  Then again, I too, was a dumbass once upon a time.

That being said, even in my youth when I did drive drunk - maybe a dozen times max - getting caught ends that shit quickly...anyways even back then, I was NEVER over 80  while on even one beer, because of my fear of the law.  To speed like that and be drunk...that means you're much dumber than PrimeStupid me...that's really fucking bad.

I quit doing dumb shit in cars when after careening off of multiple stationary obstacles, I finally came to rest upside down.  Not drunk, just stupid.  Walked away.  I’ve owned sports cars since, and I get my thrills on on-ramps these days.

So just as an aside, the number of people in this country who have the requisite training to handle a rear wheel drive car traveling at high speed is almost zero.  Virtually everyone not raised on a pick up learned to drive on a front wheel drive car, which handle completely differently in emergency situations than an over powered rear wheel (I.e your average older corvette/charger/ Camaro/Mustang) or mid engined (in the case of a c8 corvette).

Yes I've had proper training and even won some amateur short track stuff in a Porsche driving league.  I still suck compared to anyone even semipro and I also think even those people realize any public road...all bets off.  I always laugh seeing all the Lambos and Ferrari's athletes and celebrities crash...almost never have a chance if you push those things and have no training.  And today's cars you get to 150 so fucking fast it's ridiculous.

The C8 corvette takes about 23 seconds to hit 155 from a standing start.  If he had already been rolling at 60mph, it still takes 20 seconds to reach that speed, in the best possible condition.

Count to 20 seconds at your desk and imagine this is how long he had to keep his foot fully and continuously on the accelerator, while driving through city streets.

Somebody let John Wick loose on this motherfucker. And his dumbass girlfriend.  And the first bystander at the scene - "that's Ruggs.  that's Henry Ruggs.  he plays for the Raiders" - while a car with 2 victim burns.  Fuck em.

Jesus christ stop judging people for what their reaction was split seconds after being in/witnessing such a horrific crash. The only person here who is definitely shit is Ruggs. The gf is questionable but she was a passenger and not driving. The "holy shit thats ruggs" people likely didnt know about the girl still being in the car, and even if they did we obviously know it was too dangerous to attempt a rescue.

the most important thing in the split second after a horrific crash is to make sure everybody recognizes the guy sitting on the pavement is a Raider.

The gf is definitely a POS. You can feel the panic in her voice as she realizes her gravy train is headed to jail. He wasn’t knocked out or whatever she was yelling. He clearly yelled “fuck!” and was crying (I’m sure over his loss, not the burning victim). The gf had no idea about the victim’s condition when she’s yelling a people to help Riggs first.
