October 13, 20241 yr Yeah. Texas “struggled” with them at home and back then, state was THE worst team in the sec. Never mind the fact that they gambled on changing their compete offensive identity against us for that one game to try to control TOP and slow down our offense. But now that Georgia only won by a hair a home against state, they’re back to being damn near Goliath topplers.
October 13, 20241 yr For the record, A&M is 6-11 against Oklahoma since the launch of the pathetic Big 12, and 5-11 against Texas over that time frame.

October 13, 20241 yr Popular Post Quote As top-ranked teams continue to falter, Texas A&M football has an opportunity to make a huge move this season Though Texas A&M football enjoyed a nice bye this weekend, Aggie fans have to be pleased with a lot of what they saw around the country. I don't necessarily mean the results of the games, though—there are certainly some outcomes that Aggie fans would reverse, if they had their druthers. Rather, I'm talking about the way the supposed top teams ended up looking throughout the weekend. Alabama escaped South Carolina by the skin of their teeth. Fresh off of destroying that same South Carolina team, Ole Miss lost to an LSU squad that fell to 3-3 USC. Texas put up an offensive performance against Oklahoma that looked almost exactly like what lowly Auburn did against the Sooners. Ohio State and Oregon both looked sloppy in what was supposed to be a game of the year candidate. Georgia pulled away from Mississippi State... only to let them back in the game down the stretch. Tennessee nearly lost to a moribund Florida squad. In other words, the gap between the elite teams and the rest is far closer than it has been in years past. There's no unbeatable, unimpeachable squad standing head and shoulders above the rest. For a Texas A&M football team still coming into their own, that's amazing news. This Aggie squad put up a performance last week that's as impressive as any we've seen this year—out of any team in the nation. Missouri is a legitimately good team, and the Aggies beat them like a drum. An ever-improving defense—one that looks like it may be the best in the entire conference—paired with a resurgent and creative offense with Conner Weigman at the helm has Aggie fans dreaming big. By virtue of their 3-0 conference record, the Ags currently hold the top spot in the SEC. It hasn't been smooth sailing to get there, but they are there now. If they can consistently harness what we saw this past weekend—and that is a big if, by the way—they can hang with any team in the nation. This year more than ever, all you need is a shot. And it looks like the Aggies are shaping up to be a team with a better shot than most.

(Unlike tOSU, we just choose not to make a big deal out of it.) The Texas Constitution Article 7 Sec. 10. ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS; AGRICULTURAL AND MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT. October 14, 20241 yr Popular Post https://gigemgazette.com/power-ranking-the-sec-after-week-7-new-top-team-as-ut-uga-bama-falter-01ja5p6adymq Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #3 - Texas The Longhorns notched a big milestone this weekend by taking care of OU, who has been the perennial burr under their saddle. The triumphant return of Quinn Ewers to the quarterback spot saw the senior QB get his second win in the Red River Rivalry. However, the scoreboard destruction of Oklahoma still masks some of the issues that have been persisting with this Texas team. It’s becoming increasingly clear that the Horns have yet to be tested, and they’re not really passing with flying colors in every facet. There’s no one, dominant team this year, of course. Everyone has holes. But when I see that the Texas pass offense put up a worse performance against OU than did the Auburn Tigers, of all teams, that has me concerned. So too does the defense. The Longhorns have yet to play a team with the ability to complete a downfield pass, and they’ve been able to dedicate scheme and numbers to the run game as a result—yet they’re still not as dominant as they were last year. UGA will be a test in that respect, so we’ll find something out about the Longhorns this weekend—one way or the other. Next Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #2 - Georgia The Bulldogs have still not quite been as impressive as most hoped so far this year. They have won convincingly in several games—that Clemson win just keeps looking better and better, in particular—but games like this previous Saturday against Mississippi State have been a thorn in their side. Yes, if you look at total yardage, it was a convincing win. But this is the type of game that was a wholesale destruction under previous championship squads under Kirby Smart. We can write it off a little bit as a lookahead spot for the Bulldogs, who will be traveling to Austin this Saturday. But the alarm bells are still there for UGA. If they don’t win on Saturday, 9-3 is a real possibility in Athens. That might still be enough to get them in the playoff, but it won’t make many Bulldog fans happy. Power ranking the SEC after week 7: #1 - Texas A&M Why not? We need a larger body of work, to be sure. But it looks more and more like A&M’s performance against Missouri—efficient and explosive on offense, and suffocating on defense—is one of the most complete and dominant games we’ve seen out of any squad in the nation this year. They have to follow it up with some more big games, no doubt. But it’s encouraging that, upon Weigman’s return, the Aggies looked so dominant against a quality team. Again, there is more that has to be shown. But if that Mizzou game showed what the Aggies are going forward, there are almost no holes in this team—and those holes that are present are at spots that have been improving every single week. It’s looking more and more like the Ags may have the best defense in the conference, with down years in Athens and Tuscaloosa. They’re certainly more tested in that respect than others who may lay claim to that title. If the offense can keep up what they did against Mizzou, this Aggie team could be a conference title contender in year one under Mike Elko.
