Biden hit a grand slam with that speech. He set a trap for the repubs and they bit. Biden was ready and totally owned them.

Huckabeefs speech was terrible and the worst one I’ve heard in a long time.  The normal vs. the crazy? Woke? Critical race theory? All repubs do is try to scare you into thinking the other guy sucks and you have to vote for them because the GOP has no plans and nothing serious to offer people.

Really, the content of her speech follows naturally if not inevitably from the lack of content in the GOP platform.

It's quite amazing. The pubs had a layup with inflation and rising energy prices and they're focused on "hurr durr woke dims" for the Walmart crowd. By the time  the 2024 election comes around,  the macro will have fully recovered and inflation will be back to 3%.

Focusing on domestic issues that moderate R's are generally supportive of while Sanders played to the Tucker Carlson and Wal-Mart crowd was a massive W for Biden last night.  R strategy is bizarre to me.  That was an objectively awful speech she gave.  It felt like an SNL skit.  Whatever that story was at the end felt like something out of an aggy yell practice.   If that is representative of their plan for the next 2 years it won't be close.  Will be interesting to see if they start to realize doom and gloom culture war with zero substance isn't going to win back the middle.

I didn’t watch Sanders last night. That’s not that unusual though, I never watch the rebuttal. Two years is a long time, but I assume they’ll start to coalesce around captain Ron in the near future.

The attacks on ron have already begun in earnest. Which I guess means he’s seen as a credible threat. But they are going to bury him.

If I were a hacker what a great hack it would be to put a little aggy lifting his leg or doing whatever they do at the corner of the screen where the interpreter normally goes.

I only watched a bit, but when he got the whole room to stand and applaud the concept of social security cuts being off the table I literally laughed out loud.

Of course, it doesn't matter, most Republicans are immune to hypocrisy, they'll just go back and continue trying to gut the whole program.  Their base is too dull to even think "hey, wait a minute, didn't you just applaud the idea of maintaining social security?"

nevertheless, it was a rhetoric masterclass put on by a "confused old man"

Agreed. If there's anything small-government conservatives can get behind, it's a requirement that teenage girls submit their menstrual cycle data to a Federal government database.

It's been this way since 2016, if not 2008.  This is who they are.

It's easy to forget, but the bottom line is the only Presidential race that the Republicans have won since Vince Young was on campus is the one where they got to face Hillary Clinton.

They have not had a winning national platform for almost two decades.

Republicans have no clue, worse they want no clue, worse still they fucking argue the lived experience of the black community while claiming they aren't racist.  the only thing that makes me more mad than abortion and trans health care (both rooted in my body, my right) is this, how dare anyone let young black men be subjected to this living hell. fuck republicans, all of them that don't see this 100% for what it is, fuck all of them all to hell.

It’s going to get much worse, Trump knows where the donor money is headed.

Also, this.  A media tit-for-tat is one thing, but once Trump sees the coffers start to dry up, that's when he's really going to go into cornered rat mode.

It's going to be hilarious to watch.  Not as funny as watching MAGA acolytes literally shoot DeSantis supporters at Ron's rallies, but still pretty funny.

They're actually going to murder one another, like in real life.  You may not believe me now.  But nobody believed me when I said there'd be literal political violence in this country in January 2021 back in October of 2020.  They are going to murder one another.  Like, for reals.  With actual bullets.  Not enough, but so many that it'll make news.  The 2024 RNC will be the most heavily barricaded event since Melania Trump held her annual Bukkake contest.

Also, he hasn't even declared yet and I'm already tired of the whine that's in his voice.

There is a bunch of Ted Cruz-like inherent unlikeability with Ron. Those types don't typically get elected President.

You know, I think this is the first time I've ever heard deSantis ever say more than a sentence or two.  Damn, he's awful and Trump-like.  "I don't have time to fight lawsuits" (newsflash, that don't matter.  you have to fight them) and "littler people" unlike high office holders like him.

Very Trumplike in that he's got all the stupidity without the charisma.

I'm becoming more convinced that he will be Florida Rick Perry.  Someone everyone just assumed would be a national star until he was put under the spotlight.

he's got ted's looks too. just a trifecta.

so the republicans will probably elect him because he's fucking terrible and insistent on tearing shit down. which i guess is a platform. or a bonfire. whichever.

Y'all are grossly underestimating him.  He is not anywhere near as stupid as Trump.  He's doing dumb shit right now to appeal to MAGA/Golden Corral nation.  But he's not out and out stupid like Trump (who I maintain is of slightly below average intelligence by all metrics).  And he is nowhere near the cunt that Ted Cruz is.  DeSantis lacks Trump's charisma and rally appeal, but Ted is in a league by himself of unlikeability.  Cruz's own staff fucking hate him.  Only reason Ted hasn't been killed by members of his own hunting party is he literally brings two armed guards with him on every hunt to watch other hunters for "accidents."  DeSantis is not as sharp as his ego or education suggest.  DeSantis is nowhere near the charmer his wife thinks he is.  But he's just smart enough and just less cunty enough that he can pull this off.  He's just waiting for Trump to implode.  Ron's achilles heel is he's an attention whore like Trump.  So instead of letting Trump trip over his own mushroom dick for the next year...he's gonna get suckered in.  Bad for Ron.  Great for spectators like us.

Trump supporters are literally going to shoot DeSantis supporters in public in the next 18 months.  I could not be more fucking pleased.

Just posting my thoughts out loud, but it’s going to be an adventure ribbing my parents about Social Security cuts and Medicare cuts now that they both get them. Along with their pensions. And healthy retirement accounts.

They sound like a couple of people who can afford to give up their Social Security benefits in order to "Be Right" and "own the libs" and stick to their party lines.

Yeah, no. Tried this with my stepmom about the socialist PPP loan she accepted and the Medicare she receives. She said she pays taxes so she's owed that money. Nevermind that she runs a small business and pays all of her day to day expenses out of that business and basically reports no taxes.

I'm honestly tempted to report her to the IRS for the whistleblower reward money.
