Call it what you want, it's your site, but at least don't be disingenuous.  We all know why you censored him.  The hypocrisy of some of you is hilarious.  Many of you, when given the opportunity, are exactly what you criticize and hate.  LMFAO.

It's like watching a movie like Airplane!, or Hot Shots. Where the president is an absolute moron and it's supposed to be funny. Except it's not funny at all.

This might as well be the Oval Office.

I think he has a good heart and is having trouble coming to terms with the depth of the depravity of those who have commandeered what he probably considered his party from childhood. And I do think he is learning and this community is helping with that. He voted for Harris for Christ’s sake

His family, social circles, and business community don’t offer him a chance to engage honestly on these issues that he clearly is struggling with. I think some grace and empathy are warranted, especially given what set this off was so trivial

Counterpoint...

He's a piece of shit who came from pieces of shit and has constantly surrounded himself with pieces of shit. All people who exemplify some of the worst traits about Texans and Americans in general, all wrapped up in a loud mouth, ignorant shit package.

I'm not empathizing with a moron who can't handle nigredo after having his world view blown up by idiot fascists.

Trump Spent Just 20 Minutes Speaking at Crypto Dinner to People Who Paid $148 Million to Be There

By all accounts, the attendees did not get their money’s worth out of the event. YouTuber CoffeeZilla, an investigative journalist in the crypto space, said he was told by attendees that the event was disappointing and “wack.” Christoph Heuermann, a “serial entrepreneur” who attended the event, said in an Instagram post that Trump gave a 20-minute speech and “didn’t interact with the crowd other than enjoying being celebrated. Even VIP token holders (I know some) couldn’t speak or even shake hands with the president.” Don’t worry, though: If you thought that was meant as a criticism of the whole charade, it wasn’t. “It was still well worth it to experience the president live and watch his mightily secured arrival and departure,” Heuermann wrote.

I can see the well-doneness of it just from the picture.

The worst part of being presented a plate like that is knowing that you have to sit there for 45 minutes, listening to several speakers and seeing people give each other awards.

This is fake news. I have it on good authority from informed Surly posters that the entire legal community has bent the knee to Trump.

If only! The ethical crisis precedes Trump and goes well beyond Trump. He’s just one of many rich and powerful people who the legal system protects but does not bind.
Good for them, though. May they fail valiantly and honorably, while their profession stands idly by.

The fact that the military hasn’t turned on this piece of shit is maybe the most concerning thing. He shirsnon them makes it about himself and they still follow. Un fucking believable.

We sure know how to pick 'em.

We traded a fairly stable set of laws and code of conduct (slowly, over the last couple of decades) for a monarchy.  Monarchies are good when the leader is good and bad when he's bad.  We literally picked the worst monarch we could find.

So we can only go "up," right?  We got that going for us, which is nice.

Commencement day at West Point.    Talking about the important issues of the day to these Army officers

How'd you like to know you're going into a battle you know isn't necessary for this guy?

Bullneck, Jr. knows at least three guys at the Naval Academy right now.  No way I was going to support that for him.

As we've all discussed, it may come down to them.

I haven't watched these videos yet, but it is encouraging that the sat through much of it in stony silence. I saw bits from Trump's address to Alabama students, and it felt like a rally for Trump. Trump should be the antithesis of what a young thinking person visualizes for this country. Maybe the officer corps will be saviors of the republic.

Would JD Vance be up?

I recall thinking Gerald Ford was not smart enough to be president. He was a more accomplished scholar (and athlete) than I would ever be. He was likely my intellectual equal or even looked down. I just thought that presidents should be smarter than me. He wasn't a bad guy. The GOP wasn't yet a bad party. Ford would be a low point for capable presidents, I thought.

Nope. Reagan had little idea about what he was doing or how things work. That will be the low point for GOPs, I thought although I was becoming aware of the construction of the hate engine. Reagan meant well. I don't think even Nixon ever had a thought of undermining the republic. He just abused power.

Next, the hopeful blip among the GOPs. GHW Bush. He did many things I didn't like, and he was the old school face of the new school (hate) GOP. We leave the low part of the wave where Nixon defined the depths. Certainly a smart guy was in charge who cared about the republic. That was so common, that a person never thought about naming that as a qualification. Of course there can be corruption and power/money grabs, buy no basic desire to fuck up the country.

But no.

W Bush is an ambulatory moron with name brand recognition. The Iraq invasion and all the lies used to justify is the worst policy decision of my adult lifetime. At least there was a publicly recognized pretense for the disaster of Viet Nam: fight communism. It was stupid, but it was something real. Iraq...don't get me started. So W will be the dumbest worst GOP president in my memory.

Nope. I don't expect things to go up. I just hope they do. A Republican president has become, by definition, a disaster in the making.
