Well, he remains the self-interested, arrogant sumbitch he revealed himself to be during the M$ antitrust trial.

And he's not giving until it hurts.  His wealth continues to grow, very intentionally.

That means he’s no saint. It doesn’t mean he’s a dumbass. I don’t know where Hank is coming from with that.

Well, I do get called gay slurs a lot when riding my bike so it checks out. Nothing is gayer than taking care of yourself.

People that do that (bolded) are really stupid. The correct comment when passed/passing by a cyclist is "Refund! Refund!"

IYKYK.

No one passes me on another bike! A few years ago I was riding with a buddy when some roofers started talking shit so I turned around and confronted them. They weren’t that tough when challenged.

Reagan's are more controversial, but they also are credited with causing an economic expansion.

“Credited with” doesn’t mean “responsible for.” Maybe lower oil prices and massive deficit spending by the government had something to do with, for a little while.

The first time I ever heard of Donald Trump was when one of his wives accused him of rape.

And she’s now buried on one of his golf courses.

I think he means credited in the GOP political catachism, not by people who think about economic events.

At least we had some good movies. I honestly think the reason why Gen Xers like Trump more than other cohorts is because when we were growing up and becoming adults, Donald Trump was the brand most synonymous with money and success, fed to us since childhood. We grew up with him and at one point or another we all got sucked into that belief or took it for granted, at least a little. Tough to deprogram that.

Yeah but that one swimmer

Uh, I have thought Donald Trump was an assclown from jump.  I have a pathological hatred for self-promoters, though.

The regime is fine with this, a more isolated and poorer America is more pliant.

All democrats have to do is show stuff like this for the next election and the voters will finally listen.

GenX here. I don’t agree that many in the 80s or 90s really thought Trump was much more than a self aggrandizing fool. I knew a few conservative types (think someone who looked up to Alex P Keaton) who referred to him as The Donald.

trump was never someone that deserved any respect. I would have effectively said the same in 1990.

I used to call him The Donald.  It was a term of contempt derived from Ivana's pidgin references to him.

Hard disagree. I’m 52 and have always thought Trump was a blowhard assclown. I will admit to enjoying The Apprentice when it started but I never held him in much regard ever. That said, I had no idea in 2016 he would become what he became.

My grandmother gave me the trump board game for my birthday, I've hated him ever since

Literal LOL at "next election."

It's cool that we're all keeping our sense of humor.

I read The Art of Deal when I was in high school and thought he was full of shit back then.  It was evident then that he was riding his Dad's money and was not a great business mind.  But then again, I have can use both thumbs and breath through my nose.   Unlike most idiot Americans.

Curious, is Oahu feeling the insanity as much at the mainland? I know the tariffs will for sure, but culturally?

I’m on Maui so smaller scale but I haven’t noticed much here honestly. Saw one trump flag during all of election season and that was only the day after he won it. The hands off rally here showed me old whites out here are pissed about their 401k/SS that’s for sure.

When I was on Oahu last year it was like a 2 week vacation from trumpy bastards that are a dime a dozen here in Texas. Didn't think about it all once. Hoping it stays that way there.

Yeah, right now it feels like future "elections" will be about as free and fair and some of his recent "golf championships".

Meanwhile, this fuckhead is actively tanking the dollar.  It was $1.23 when he took office.  Now up to $1.32.  I was hoping for $1.28 or better before I buy my next traunch of GBPs.  At this rate, fuck it, I'm hosed.

The strongest currency in the world....and he's fucking strangling it and holding its head underwater.  Because....reasons.

Damn trumps economy is picking winners and losers,

All economic policies pick winners and losers. Certain industries get subsidies or bailouts in every administration. I know this is likely phrased here just to use GOP criticism of Obama policies against the current admin but 1) it’s a bad criticism and 2) they’re incapable of shame or caring about hypocrisy

Yeah weird. Maybe tariffs weren’t “paused” or “walked back” and what’s been implemented amounts to a global trade war with no discernible off ramp, and the details change daily.

The thing that chaps my ass is how so many negative stories about the economy and inflation were laid at Biden’s feet in the run up to the election but here we actually have the President as the sole and single cause for the economic downturn and there aren’t universal voices screaming that he’s crashing the god damned plane into the mountain.

Fucking.  THIS.

Economic effects of a global economy and factors outside of the Executive's control?  BLAME BIDEN.

Economic effects caused SOLELY by the erratic, mercurial, juvenile, and pointless acts of the Executive, and the Executive alone?  CRICKETS CHIRPING.
