Del Valle Man run over, shot and killed by 12 & 13 year olds trying to recover stolen car

Anthony Salas (20 years old) was killed trying to recover his sister’s stolen car in Del Valle earlier this month. He was run over and shot in the neck by the suspects who were juveniles, 12 and 13, charged with capital murder. These juveniles are suspected to be involved in dozens of break in across the Austin area.

I saw these kids breaking into cars when I was visiting my mother’s house in East Austin. I was tempted to say something to scare them off because they looked like scrawny little boys, but my Mom kept insisting we just go inside and call the cops. Her paranoia about “everyone having a gun” turned out to be right. I’m still in shock it was these punk kids and I can’t imagine how much the family is grieving.

Donations have been kind of scarce and the family is having a hard time finding a place to have a fundraiser, so please donate to the GoFundMe if you can:

I don't care what they did, I don't trust any government that thinks it has this power

Just for clarification of OP’s fucktarded thread title which reads like the kids were trying to recover the stolen car, the kids in fact had stolen it and the 20 year was trying to get it back

I just figured you were the OP without even looking at the username.

What power are to talking about?

Charging suspects with crimes?  Charging suspects with murder?  Elevating murder charges based upon specific circumstances, including committing murder while in commission of other felonies?

Or are you just talking about the possible sentences for a person convicted of capital murder including life w/o parole or death penalty.

I'm against the death penalty, and I'm against long sentences for crimes committed by minors.

They should at least have to take defensive driving.

Juveniles can be charged with capital murder, but are not subject to the death penalty or life without parole.

SCOTUS said so in 2005.

Fine.  Give them the option for parole in 2075...

What would you consider a "long sentence"?

I’m sorry. These guys killed a man - they should go away a long time. This isn’t the government ruining their lives, they did that themselves when they ended the other guys.

They will be disciplined, but they aren't fully grown adults yet. Why are we punishing them as if they were? Just because they are old enough to superficially understand some things doesn't mean they are old enough to truly understand things. Although they may know the difference between right and wrong, I don't believe that knowledge by itself is enough to justify a disproportionate exercise of government power against them. Knowledge without maturity is like cookie dough without an oven. We can't really hold them to the same standards as a mature adult.

A, sorry, do the crime, do the time.

10 years or longer

10 years would seem to be a pretty light sentence, even for a 12=13 yo.  They murdered a man in cold blood.  That has severe consequences at any age.  And as a parent, I recognize how immature that age really is.

This has been going on awhile in Del Valle where kids steal trucks and just drive them til they run out of gas. My sisters boyfriend had his truck stolen and they found it out in Del Valle the next day abandoned cause he has a lock on the gas cap or some shit like that.

And everyone knows killing people is wrong at 12 years old, Jesus Christ man.

My thread title is shit. But not as shitty as those fucking kids who killed a man because they wanted to steal a car.

I’ve been in contact with Anthony’s mother and I was just trying to post here to see if it could help with the fundraising efforts. My apologies for having shitty grammar on a thread title about a guy’s murder.

And I’m not for the death penalty for juveniles, but these pieces of shit should go away for a long time. They have a rap sheet a mile long and the judge denied them monitored release from custody because they are still a huge risk to the community.

Because they killed a fully grown man for no reason.

Wait - did anyone tell them that he’s in danger of being executed in Texas?
