Gotta give it up for ARod last night. Collected a pair of doubles when we were desperately needing offense. Got hit around the knee in another AB, then swiped a bag anyway.

I thought it was his knee at first, too, but the replay made it look like it caught his left inner thigh, just above the knee.  Probably for the better, I'd rather have a muscle bruise than a bone bruise (or worse).

Yes, I started to say "knee" but had a hunch it was instead just in the vicinity. Regardless, tough kid to shake that off, swipe second and finish out the win. I hope he gets today off, and maybe tomorrow.

I think anyone whining about his D needs to see the whole picture of what we have in this kid. He's a freshman switch hitter who in the short term has had to bat lefty against every pitcher, due to injury... but still produces when it really matters. Great to have him in burnt orange.

I don’t think anyone thinks he’s a problem to have. He’s a great player for sure but right now he’s best served as a DH because he can’t defend.

That 10-pitch double in the seventh when he fouled off five pitches finished Witherspoon, imo.

If anyone has a single for tonight or tomorrow holler at me. I love you long time.

Did you voluntarily go to Norman? But why?

Do we empty the bench the rest of this series? We have clinched the regular season championship. I would just look to get our midweek pitchers work, while resting some of our regulars. Galvan looked a little gimpy last night. We've likely clinched a Top 4 seed in the NCAA if not the #1 overall right now.

If anybody is injured, no reason to sacrifice for the team sure.

But otherwise I don't see the value in resting. We have five games max in the next two weeks, plenty of resting time in there. Especially for guys this age.

Are we doing this thing here where we don't care about beating OU? Is that it? That's where we are right now?

I was initially violently opposed to this idea and wanted us to play for the sweep but fucking Gasparino, Mendoza, A-Rod, Galvan, Jonah…. Yeah, I’d consider it.

LOL whoops. I knew they were in Norman, too. Haven't gotten much sleep this week.

I want the series.  It's a contrast to Arky/Florida.  And, OU.  If we can get this win tonight, then I don't mind a little lineup shuffling.

I always love when a batter is so pumped at hitting a home run that they forget to jog and basically run the bases at normal speed.

Yep. I don’t care that we won the SEC. I don’t want to lose 3 straight series

This plus it's fucking OU. Don't want to drop series to two of our three rivals.

Also, losing the last three series is a narrative we don’t want the committee to have available to them as an excuse to do something shitty to us in terms of seeding or matchup.

I think it would be ok to give a day off to guys that are dealing with stuff but I wouldn’t just empty the bench. It’s still OU and winning still matters.

And it looks like every swing hurts him. He has to be playing through some pain.

I’d need a month off at my age.

If AR isn't playing through pain then he needs to be handed the Academy Award for Best Actor.

I know it's a hand bruise, but I'm not even sure if resting for 4-5 days would help it that much. I think they decided at a certain point that he would just have to play through it and deal with it after the season. Seems like the type of injury that needs extended rest (as in weeks or a month) to truly heal or get better.

He's definitely earned a rest day or two though if he has other nagging stuff.

God I hate ESPN+.  God forbid I log in, find the game, DON'T launch it early, then attempt to launch it several minutes into the broadcast.  "Game has not started yet.  Come back in a bit."

Log out, log in, repeat, voila.  Fucking lunacy.
