That was actually pretty good.

My disgust for Ted Cruz is well-documented here but I admit that I snickered at that.

Didn't someone say they had access to a few extra free Beto signs?  Someone has been stealing them in my hood and I would like to help replace them.

If you're in Austin, go by Circle Brewing - they've held a couple of events for him and always end up with extra signs. We listed our house in June and gave our sign away, but after we moved we were at Circle and they gave us a new sign for free because they had so many.

There was one lone Ted Cruz sign in Milwood (amongst the sea of Beto ones) that I used to see driving to work, but this morning it was gone. Not sure if the owner changed their tune or what.

all these muthafuckas better show up to the polls.  I worry too many millennials are going to see the long lines and say "fuck it."

Beto campaign needs to push early voting. Go wherever you want in Your county. It’s like 2 weeks long. Even on weekends. Rarely ever a wait

recently?

Yes, we got another one around a week ago.

Just checked our mail again from over the weekend. Got a regular Ted Cruz letter asking for money.

Also noticed we received an 8x11 envelope from Michelle Malkin, "Conservative Commentator and Best-Selling Author". No bullshit, it's an ELEVEN page letter railing on the radical left and asking to donate money to the the Leadership Institute. They are trying to launch new conservative student groups on college campuses.

Not sure how my wife got on these mailing lists considering she's never voted Republican. My guess is it's because her Fox News brainwashed mother recently signed up for an NRA membership (she doesn't use guns at all), and they somehow got our info.

Funny to me:

Once a month I go walk a trailer park about 20 minutes out of the suburb city limit where there is still some land. It’s pretty methy and Mexican, but generally speaking the people there aren’t in great want of food. I’d say about 10% are truly destitute and need the food we provide, and another 10% are elderly and like us doing little things to help like lift or bring something or move something for them. 80% are just probably bad with money or have no problem/shame living in a trailer for $500 and saving or spending the rest of their disposable income. Good for them.

Anyway I say all that to say, the only Ted Cruz sign I’ve seen in a while was in this trailer park.hmmmm

the two Ted Cruz supporters I know are my fiancee's brother and uncle.  The brother lives with his parents in a manufactured home, drives a delivery truck, and is a giant pothead.  He was a Bernie supporter and said he would vote for Beto, but has gone down the fake news rabbit hole and is a big Trump guy now.  Her uncle drives uber and lives with his mom.  Those two and one other extended member of her family are the source of right wing shit on my Facebook feed.  I play the role of trying to get her to not antagonize them too much and otherwise not engaging them on the topics.  For them as "disenfranchised" whites (not really, but basically) it's entirely culture war.

Pretty weak that the Cruz campaign is saying that except for a few anecdotal stories, everyone knows that letter is a campaign contribution request.

Then why not use envelopes printed "Cruz Campaign Contribution Request" rather than "Official Travis County Summons"?

I put in a few leaves of poison ivy.

typo:  I meant to type "I'd"  (obviously not serious).  Would not do that to a poor volunteer.  Seriously though, I would consider sending in some monopoly money with a note that says " send me a fake summons, and I'll send you fake money"

Interesting to see what Senator Rafael's response will be to the Kavanaugh sexual assault accusation.

1. Youthful indiscretion . . . irrelevant years later when we know so much about his character . . . a man should not be judged by his worst moment . . .  yada yada.   Which would be very ironic in light of his attack ads about Beto's DWI arrest 20+ years ago.

2. The accusation comes too late to delay the vote . . . Dems should have brought this up earlier . . . yada yada.  You know, because the timing is much more important than the possible substance of the allegation and the very real possibility that a lifetime SCOTUS appointment will go to a man with a sexual assault in his background.

3. It doesn't matter if it's true . . . I'm voting for him anyway . . . true conservative and constitutional scholar . . . yada yada.   Because adherence to conservative "principles" is much more important that actual character and integrity  --  with the risk that he further infuriates women voters who may view sexual assault a bit differently.

4. Crickets.  At least until he sees which way the wind is blowing.

I'm guessing crickets.

Cruz is the one that needs to push early voting.  He needs folks to show up and check the box next to his name before the video comes out of him getting cornholed by a Great Dane.

Meh. Republicans don't early vote in big numbers.  They prefer to drive grandma and grandpa to the polls on election day.  Like it's some special sacred duty to only vote on Election Day.  Fucking weirdos.

I'm thinking he is scouring pornhub, for research purposes, of course.

Cruz aims to be perceived as the law and order candidate and the one who “backs the blue,” so he is always going to be tepid at best in his criticism of any cop or police department.

except the FBI and Mueller's team and heck any other Federal Law Enforcement officer investigating a Republican.

What investigation is needed? If you can’t handle the complexity of multiple floors at your own apartment complex, you don’t deserve a badge and gun. It’s a pretty easy qualifier.

agree.  that's the point.  an off-duty murder/manslaughter and you don't get to keep your job as a gun toting civil servant regardless of any trial

No kidding.   At most jobs, a massive fuckup warrants you getting fired.   Killing a guy because of an absurd mixup — the most charitable view of what she has actually admitted to — warrants removing the public's trust in her to hold a badge and gun.   How is that even debatable?    With all of the minor shit that Cruz and his cronies think warrants firing, like kneeling for the pledge or a DOJ investigator sending private texts of a political nature — a cop actually barging into the wrong apartment and killing the resident needs extensive consideration?
