Andrew Luck to retire

Can't find it now but there was a tweet earlier today that he had a short workout on the field today, went and sat down on the bench and talked with the GM for about 30 minutes and from there directly left the facility.  Whatever went down it definitely seems to be on the fly.

He rushed back too soon a couple years ago with the bum shoulder, and it cost him the season. Now, he has a calf strain that won’t heal, and didn’t want to make the same mistake twice. I wonder if he was feeling some pressure from the team to return and he said, “fuck it” and quit. He’s still young, has a brain that hasn’t been scrambled yet, and plenty of scratch in the bank.

Career 61% completion percentage and a 2:1 TD/Int ratio. Those numbers are straight out of the mid-90s in the most wide open era in league history.

Even without the injuries, relative to his “best QB prospect ever” hype, he’s arguably a bust. I’m not saying he was bad. But he wasn’t special.

Hard to know for sure with the injuries and lack of team support.

How does the money work here?  Signing bonus clawback?  Future guaranteed money?  If he claims it is for health reasons does that change anything?

He has to give back the remaining balance of his last signing bonus, depending on how it was structured year over year, and possibly any roster bonuses that matured since the beginning of the league business year.
