The apparent “plan” that we’re going to send a bunch of Chevron engineers into the most lawless and dangerous country on Earth without any immediate security measures is honestly pretty funny in its complete stupidity.

I thought Venezuelan oil was the thick tarry stuff that’s energy intensive to refine. Not calling it swill, but swill compared to what’s coming from west Texas or Middle East.

Also, Marco Rubio is a POS. I understand doing it for the paycheck, but at one point he was somewhat respected. Now he belongs in front of the ICC along with everyone in this administration.

Pretty sure lil Marco likes this. He wants to take Cuba. Because of course he does.

I'm pretty sure that's a feature, and not a bug for this administration. I don't think the president plans to go lob any paper towels into Cuba

I was thinking about. I'll just assume he's Cuban and he'd like to be El Presidente para Vida.

So Trump can’t even get his fat ass back to DC for an operation of this magnitude?

Plausible deniability.

These jackasses rolled the dice and came up money.

This was a straight up coin toss fucking gamble.

If it had been snake eyes, Petey H would have been thrown under the bus.

Trump would have claimed he knew nothing about this.

Book it,

Honest question: what in our long history of foreign adventurism gives you any reason to think it’s even conceivable that we will do this right and not “pull an Iraq?”

You mean the administration full of sycophants, grifters, Fox News castoffs & pedophile enablers doesn't give you confidence in their ability to rebuild the government & economy of a poor, fractured country?

Do you even MAGA, bro?

So should I buy beach property or is going to look like Galveston soon?

Like everything Trump does, he expends all the capital we’ve accumulated over 250 years and mortgages our future we’ve yet to realize.

He’s never been successful in anything and yet, here we are.

I just wanted a good RB and some offensive linemen in the portal to start off 2026. Was that too fucking much to ask?

This is the politics page, after all, and the politics are bad for this Administration.

It did nothing to build any public support for this. And there is none. So Democrats will be in attack mode. And generally their attacks are going to be consistent with the misgivings of a majority of Americans, who are a people since Vietnam who are typically pretty skeptical of foreign adventurism (though they typically come around to it after the government makes a case).

Republicans have none of their personal credibility wrapped up in this. No Republican in Congress voted for this. They’re free to point that out. And they will. If this goes south, Ted Cruz will absolutely use this to attack JD Vance. MTG will attack Marco Rubio.

Contrast that with the Iraq invasion. John Kerry and Hillary Clinton voted for that shit. So in 2004, they couldn’t credibly attack Bush in the issue. In the meantime, the Republicans stayed unified on it until well after it became a serious political problem.

Look—I’m not give you any nonsense about the Constitution. Save that for the DT. There’s a real political reason you inform Congress and get just a little buy-in. But these people are too stupid to understand that.

as to the attacks from Dems, I already say Jeffries' response, and it was about as soft and saggy as South Austin's mom's tits. We Dems are 100% impotent.

Years ago there was some football movie where ON THE FIELD in a rainy night game, after making a tackle, one player takes out a gun and shoots another. I scoffed, at the time.

Was the “German/Japanese” path “cut the Dear Leader in on a 10% vig on all ‘reconstruction,’ concessions, etc…on top of a healthy tip of billions in crypto?” Because if it wasn’t, a fraud you’re going to be very disappointed in the coming years.

On the bright side, it will be illegal for you to express any such disappointment.

The Last Boy Scout. The movie was about a hypothetical situation where gamblers controlled the NFL and that player was reduced to desperate measures from mobsters.

Gambling controlling American sports? Ridiculous.

Not a football movie, The Last Boy Scout. And the gunman was an offensive player, I think. Peak Bruce Willis.

Yeah he was the running back. I think he shot a linebacker and scored a touchdown and then shot himself. And that was the opening scene.

I don't think Cuba or Venezuela have the capability to bomb Pearl Harbor.

Shit like this really highlights how most of the population is only capable of viewing news items in black and white.

Asking “why are you supporting Maduro?!?” to anyone who dares point out the potential ramifications of an event like this.

So if they don’t support the same action against Putin, they’re supporting Putin. Why is that?

OK, so I get that following the law is not the administration’s jam. But how is ANY of this even remotely legal? We are just blowing through stop signs and red lights, and flipping the bird to the world in the process. It is not a “flex” to topple a regime. It is criminal.

And he hasn’t even been in office for a year.

In the Trump World that we live in, the TD counts. There's nothing in the rule book against having a firearm on the field, right SCOTUS?
