The Book of Boba Fett- Disney+ show starting December 29

Solid start. Disney probably needs a publicist to hold Rodriguez’s hand during interviews.

Things I liked:

- The escape was believable and they went right into it. Addressing it episode 4 or something wouldn’t have worked as well.
- His capture was also believable, but his captivity not so much. The youngling had his back to Boba much of the time. He could have destroyed that kid, and they already established Boba could handle the space dog.

Things I didn’t like:

- The centaur monster looked like shit and something RR pulled out of the Dusk Til Dawn prop closet.
- About 10 minutes too short.

I had to chuckle at the rodent of unusual size but since I’m a fan of Princess Bride I just considered it a tribute

Mando startng from a completely clean slate definitely was an advantage as this one had to tell the back story but I enjoyed how they told it - so yeah, I’m all in

I thought the VFX was fine until the Sandpeople dog started trying to walk with them. I enjoyed the first episode though I did joke with the wife about member berries. At least with this tickling of your nostalgia bone, you're getting somewhere new with the protagonist and it's not just a reboot of an existing origin story like Force Awakens. It's a continuation of Boba Fett's story which we didn't get back when everyone really wanted any new Star Wars content.

They are definitely winking at the old legends universe and fandom, I'm loving it. In the books, Boba fought his way out of the sarlacc and was found by Jawas but they thought he was a droid and took him onboard [/nerd].

I'm liking the sand people storyline and fleshing out that part of the universe that is so core to the star wars universe and story. Finally getting more interesting things than sand people in burqas getting revenge killed in AOTC lol

In all of your viewings and readings, are there a lot of old tree stumps in the tatooine desert or only when the sand people need to hold someone captive?

Right on the guards. I'm glad the guards finally aren't just useless overweight pigs that are easily dispatched. There were definite winks to Jedi but it wasn't just over the top. It felt like it served a purpose to show Jabba's barren throne room. Compare that to how crowded it was in Jedi. Shows how far the Hutt empire has slipped. Yeah, Max Rebo member berries but I'll forgive that. I'd imagine we'll be returning to the Mos Espa titty bar/casino later in the season. I don't mind more Sandpeople storylines.

Star Wars is science fantasy! No need to worry about details like that 😛

But maybe it's just some extra wood they have lying around that they jammed into the sand? Seems like something they'd be able to manage considering they do build large fires at night etc

The non-Sand People have to use moisture evaporators to get any form of water. It stands to reason that Sand People have figured out the native way of getting water and how to find it. That's probably why they drop anchor and set up camp where they do. They're nomads so I'd imagine they would bring along wood they find as they're moving along.

Again, it's Star Wars. Just go with it and stop worrying about what's realistic or not. Boba would've died from heat exhaustion early on any way.

Morrison isn't much of an actor, IMO. Keep that helmet on buddy.

This doesn't feel as well-made as Mando. As noted above, some scenes look very soundstagey.

I'd rather have more content than less. And some of the VFX in Mando were not good by modern standards because they tried to make them more like the OT.

I get the feeling they are positioning him as a kinder gentler Boba, basically a good guy. Mando II. Which is disappointing since he’s supposed to be a ruthless bounty hunter and now crime lord.

Or they are positioning it to where what he wants to do "rule with respect" will come into conflict with what he has to do "rule with fear" and he will have to make a choice and....break bad.

Someone noticed that Patton Oswalt's filibuster from Parks and Rec is pretty on the money lol

That was awesome. An epic Easter egg.

I didn’t mind it and think it’s intentional, an attempt to recapture the look and feel of New Hope and that SW was originally an homage to low-budget serials of the 50s. Lucas went way too CGI in the PT and Special Editions. The ST returned to physical props,; Mando and now BoBF are continuing that look.

I mean, he did explode a guy with a rocket who was running away.
