Agree.  Sark is a genius at play design and recruiting -- literally one of the best in the world at both.

But we need someone else to call the plays.  Sark has enough other stuff to do on game day.

Also, this thread has already not aged well, and I hope it becomes a classic.

The two things he sucks at are clock/game management and playcalling and it's because he's having to do both.  He kicks ass at everything else and I'm 100% certain if he walks away from playcalling he will kick ass at clock/game management.

I'm a PADI master scuba diver trainer and we call it perceptual narrowing when you start screwing up as tasks stack up on you.  It happens to us all no one is immune.

He did show the fuck up and win it at the end. I’ll give em that.

He's not giving up play calling.  Give it up.  He maybe could be talked into hiring a coach to do the game management for him and make suggestions in real time.

Agree 100%.  He's just trying to be elite at too many things.

The question is if he can see the bigger picture and cede a little control.  Honestly, if there's anybody who could talk to him about that, it's Nick Saban.

Oh for sure.... we should back up the brinks truck to just have Saban only show up on game days and be a consultant who gives constructive feedback.  Shit Pete Carroll could do it too though i'd rather have Saban 100 times out of 100.

Flood said he followed him to Texas because he’s the best player caller he’s ever seent.

It’s great to win 13 games.  It sucks in how the games are won.  The two are not mutually exclusive.

Yeah, let's just kick it back to Herman then.

Doesn’t have anything to do with a comparison with the Herman era.  Get the fuck out of here with that!  If there is any comparison, it’s with Texas’ peers at the elite level who have the same level of talent.

Wilcox gets a raging case of sandy cunt every game it seems. A couple of weeks before the aggy game, he was all but ceding victory to the sheep humpers. He basically has the spine of a juvenile jellyfish. He can't help it, it's just who he is.

He's fine, we have one receiver we can actually count on but he can't block for shit, best receiver is hurt, overated oline way overated oline, Jekyl and Hyde QB and running backs that showed less burst today than Quinn fucking Ewers.

He just needs to find a real OC and cede playcalling.

I’ve come to wonder if it’s a ‘maybe a coordinator’ situation, though obviously he wouldn’t accept demotion. Sark’s highest and best in-game use may be OC.

Well Texas is the only common team across the last two CFPs, so who are you comparing him to?  The now retired Saban? Maybe Kirby?

Sure but he makes an excellent CEO too.  His press conferences are badass, he kicks ass at player identification, player development, managing the big money dipshit donors, and literally everything else.

It's his achilles heel that he doesn't realize he's over his skis trying to be elite at both during the game.

Ohio State, Penn St, Oregon, Notre Dame, and Georgia.  Don’t be dense.

And seriously, get the fuck out of here with the well at least we are not in Herman era.  Texas is at another level now and needs play at that level with the talent the team has.   ASU had no business taking Texas to OT.

You can say what you want, but to keep throwing the deep passes was dumb.

ASU followed the Georgia example on defense, they played to stop the run and dared Texas to throw.

The short passes that were open were ignored, to throw it deep. The last interception by ASU, running back was wide open over the middle/

Ryan Day, James Franklin, and Marcus Freeman have all have long lists of embarrassing losses. So does Dan Lanning, although that might just be a Deboer issue

He isn't under Texas.

He needs consistent play at QB.

Both posts are correct, and everyone will benefit from the changes when it comes to fruition.  I'll add Baxter going down did not help at all.  Speaking for myself, it really sucks to win and be so frustrated with the offensive production.  Especially when you know what we should be capable of.  Offense was lights out against Clemson; Not so much against ASU. Let not talk about Auburn, geez he's making it hard for me to continue to stand with him.  Don't show me the labor, just show me the win baby.

Who do you want back? Makcovic? Mack? Charlie? Tom Herman?

Agreed.  It wasn’t too long ago Texags morons wanted to offer Sark $15MM/year to go to the dark side.

Turtle Tom was a better Gameday coach?  Is that you're argument? JFC you must be 4.

We are a flawed, inconsistent team. Maybe that's a surprise to you. It's not to anyone who has been watching this team since it beat Michigan.

I swear my 9 year old handles football games better than you.

Your New Years resolution should be to stop being such a little bitch in 2025.

Every fan of every team thinks their coach isn’t a good gameday coach outside of maybe Kirby. Lanning is too aggressive, Day turtles, the list goes on and on.

I enjoyed Herman’s gameday coaching when he green lighted a zero blitz on 3rd and 17 against LSU. Or when he would kick 19 yard field goals. Or when we allowed Tech, Kansas, Tulsa (!), Kansas State and Baylor to erase sizable first half leads in 2018. Or when he came out in the 2019 and 2020 OU games running bubble screens and HB swing passes.

Yeah those two epic battles vs Maryland cemented Turtle Tom's game day credentials as a HOF'er.

Eh, he's really starting to show some glaring issues which shouldn't be a problem for a coach of his supposed caliber.

Quinn has been off basically all year.  Sark has done fuck all to deal with that.

The O-line has had major problems all year.  Sark has done fuck all to deal with that.

Bert clearly was ass last year and he's even worse this year.  Sark has done fuck all to deal with that.

These are season long problems that haven't been addressed whatsoever.  Throw in some legit pants on head retarded play calling in just about every game, too.  You can't just hand wave this shit off and say, "But two CFP appearances in a row, bro!"  Obviously any talk of replacing him is asinine, but he needs to be encouraged to get some help.  If you don't have the time/energy/whatever to solve problems with the team, find someone who does.  I think we have enough money for that.

Hes a top 5 program builder, a fringe top 10-15 coach, and may or may not be The Guy. But damm this season has maybe been his worst, considering the talent at his disposal, since his time at Texas

We have a second consecutive top 4 finish and tied the school record for wins in a season.

If that is his worst season, then sign me up for more. Is there any evidence the amount of talent is going down?
