Chris Rock’s statement regarding last night’s Academy Awards #Oscars

“As a comedian it can be difficult to understand which lines are to be crossed and which ones aren’t. Last night I crossed a line that I shouldn’t have and paid the enormous price of my reputation as a renown comedian. Comedy is never about poking fun at or making lite of people with major ordeals happening in their lives. Comedy is about using real life circumstances to create laughter and bring light to an otherwise dark world. With that said, I sincerely apologize to my friend’s Jada Pinkett-Smith, Will Smith, and the rest of the Smith family for the disrespect and disregard I displayed which was unfortunately broadcast for the world to see. I hope that, with time, forgiveness can come of this situation and we can all be better, more considerate people in the end.” - Chris Rock

that's hilarious but I'm sure no one is going to go through Rock's routines to find out where he made fun of people who have "major ordeals" even worse.

I love the "we can all be better, more considerate" like the rest of us act like Will fucking Smith Jada Pinkett, and Chris Rock.

Is Cardi B is defending you, you are making poor life choices.

Offset is a fucking moron, too. I'm not saying that as an old white guy shaking my fist at these new fangled rappers - I'm saying that as someone who's very much in touch with the current hip hop scene.

As much as an older, non-black man can be in touch with the current hip hop scene.

I ain't old. Migos was at their peak when I was still in college. They played one of our parties. Offset was so fucked up he couldn't recite an ad lib into the mic and just stood there with a towel over his head.

alec.
you really think comedians hired to host the oscars would make light of a film cinematographer getting dead?

I know it’s Alec. Do we have to point out jokes and sarcasm to those of you who evidently went to a watch party and made notes on the red carpet fashions and eagerly awaited every word of wisdom emanating from a bunch of ducking actors. Did they put the cinematographer in the In Memoriam section?

Haven't read through the entire thread so it's probably been mentioned, but this has absolutely nothing to do with Jada's hair loss.

Jada fucked around on Will with one of her sons friends way back when and left Will.  They got back together but have an "open" relationship.  To add more fuel to the fire, Jada now has a talk show or some shit where she tells the world about her and Will's open relationship and how she cucked him before that with HER SON'S FRIEND.  A guy who was a junkie, suicidal, etc., to make it even worse.  That's gotta fucking sting for a guy like Will Smith.

Oh, and it's a rather open secret in Hollywood that Will Smith bats for the other team like Travolta.

Hair had nothing to do with it.

Who? Jada’’s “friendship” with August Alsina is well known.  It’s also well known that Jada and Tupac weren’t really a thing but extra, extra flirty. Whether or not Pac hit it before, well his death, is anyone’s guess, but it made Will very jealous of their relationship.

I don’t think Will is gay. Travolta is a well known secret.  Jaden is the gay in their family.  I don’t know that he has certain friends that Jada would have fucked, if you get my drift.

I say all of this without knowing who you are and what your connections are.  My connections?  I’ve seen every episode of Fresh Prince and sat thru I Am Legend on a date.

You know all this inside fastball about the Smith's for some reason and yet you were confused with the very public general black twitter defense of Will Smith and needed me to confirm some names for you? Something isn't adding up.

Nice apology that was dumb. He doesn’t owe anyone anything. And, I would’ve loved it had he responded with “you’d be less pissed if I’d slept with her / you’d let me sleep with her.”  He took the high road, which is admirable, but apologizing is dumb. Fuck the Smiths. They are weirdos and all of their careers are over.

Wait so you're saying Will killed Tupac and framed Biggie for it?

That Chris Rock statement looks  (and is) fake as fuck.

I assume real but the "poking fun and making lite(sic) of people having major ordeals" did seem kinda strange.  isn't that what a comic like Rock does?

I just want them to hire Anthony Jeselnik for the Oscars next year.

Oh, I like this idea very much.  Only problem is his delivery takes so fucking long.  I love it, it's what makes it so great...but they usually go with punchier hosts.  But my god, after everything Hollywood has stuck us with the last few years...it'd be great for them to self-roast with Jeselnik at the podium.  But they'll probably go with a safer play like somebody from "Big Bang Theory" or whatever you kids still watch these days.

I'd watch for Gervais, too.

He made jokes (hilarious ones) about OJ murdering his ex and Ron Goldman

I am sure he had a devastating retort to that slap and swallowed it.

The multiple "Alex Baldwin" comments were making my eye twitch and I would have addressed it if you hadn't beat me to it.

I guess we weren't clued in on the hilarious Alex Baldwin joke that's been going around.

These things always bring out the "Black Community" Experts, don't they?

Offset and Cardi B. I guess Denzel isn't Black famous or Tyler Perry, or Shannon Sharpe, or ....

It's the curated special that's the "general Black defense." Nevermind that polling shows pretty much across all racial groups, people thought Smith was wrong for it.

Can't wait to see what else Black Anthropologist specialist TurkeyChew has in store for us.

I'll tell you who isn't a black community expert, besides myself; the guy who was so sure that not one prominent and influential black entertainer would be for Will Smith that he asked for just ONE example. And I know, Cardi B isn't my cup of tea either, but I bet she's more influential to the youth and active online (bpt) than Tyler Perry. And Shannon Sharpe? hahahaha
