Arch Manning: Doing his best JAG impression to fool scouts

I am not a QB expert. Should I be concerned that in the highlight video above, I did not seem to see much of Arch's helmet pointing in one direction and then the completed throw in another direction? Was it there and I missed it? He definitely looked better this week, but I am not certain that I saw evidence this week that he can go through reads and make a good throw to the second or third.

Deep ball to Washington immediately comes to mind.

The odd thing about Arch is he has made 2nd and 3rd read throws but has frozen on the 1 read stuff the last few games. Hitting those 1 read throws on time will bring the passing game to where it was last year.

That could have been the TE leak play, but I did not watch a 2nd time.

I really don’t give a shit on this. If anything I liked it at the time. I don’t won’t to see it again, but Arch needed to play with confidence and show some emotion. If it takes a little taunt vs a paraplegic to get his swagger back, I am fine with it

I don’t give a fuck. If that is what it takes to make him play better then so be it. He is hated anyway, might as well lean into it.

2) I dont condone the taunt but earlier in the game #6 did the same thing to Arch after a big hit. Arch was returning the favor. yall even watch the game?

I didn’t love it, because whatever he did earlier in the game,  #6 plays for Sam Houston State and is going to be tackling deliveries for Rooms To Go 12 months from now.
That said, nobody is talking about this because it was a big deal. They are  talking about it because we’re a big fucking deal. So there’s no really no thought process around any of it other than some shit to discuss on Monday morning.

Someone check my math please, but if Arch were to stay on his current pace he would finish the regular season with 42 total TDs. Which would be second all-time at Texas behind Colt’s 45 in 2008.

Negged for believing there's any chance he could stay on his current pace.

256.5

Arch Manning's passer rating in Texas's 55-0 win over Sam Houston on September 20, 2025, was an NCAA single-game record of 256.5. He went 18-of-21 for 309 yards with 3 passing touchdowns and no interceptions, plus 2 rushing touchdowns.

🤘🤠

Is that good?

OK but the competition(for everyone on the team) is going to go up just slightly over the next 8 games.

this "record" has proven to be incorrect.

It is good, but it is not a record for passer rating. Kyler Murray had a 348.04 rating once

But according to Derka, our passing game sucked last year because Quinn sucks.

That is going to be really helpful. I look forward to the next 3 pages of rehashing the same old arguments.

Yeah, a lot of us could "I told you so" but don't for fear of the incoming threadshitting.

It may be his personal record though.

"I told you so" is itself a form of threadshitting. The dude has been quiet since Arch started struggling and I am thankful for that without really caring about why.

Also, let's not start running victory laps because Arch looked better against SHSU. I'm certainly happy about it and it's a positive data point, but I want to see him bring that same energy against Florida and OU before I jump the broom.

Both of those are solid defenses.

Florida defense is giving up 1.23 pts per drive (23rd).. that is probably under-rated, as the offense has been really bad. They are on the field a lot.
OU is giving up .78 (8th)

Unfortunately, I think Arch is going to have to carry this team vs both. I just do not have a lot of faith in the Texas OL or run game.

So Arch and Mateer have almost identical stats right now.  I understand Mateer has 2 more "good" wins, so I guess that's why he's getting more hype right now (plus Arch shitting the bed for 2 out of 4 games), but just found it surprising.

I'm glad Mateer is getting the hype and Arch is getting the disrespect.  Hope it continues right up until the final gun in the Cotton Bowl when Texas walks away with a 28-10 victory.

There was a time when Sports Twitter was great. Now it's just Politics Twitter with nothing but grievances, trolling, and engagement bait.

Is nothing sacred.

"gotcha/exposed!" deserves its own category as well. Don't mind the good or funny examples but a lot of it is lame and tired.

Arch currently leads all of college football in total touchdowns.

When Wisner is back the running game is much better. The young guys have looked good but Wisner is an elite back when he is healthy.

we all know that "the media" and national haters around the country just want to hate on Texas

Instead of hating on us for Arch missing throws they are hating on us for Arch talking shit after scoring a touchdown.

Seems like a win to me

Fuck em

It's hilarious that I don't recall Baker Mayfield getting nearly this much shit for way worse on-field behavior.

Arch stared a guy down for about three seconds, and he's a piece of shit.  Baker planted a flag on Ohio State's field, grabbed his nuts at Kansas players, and more, but he's just a fiery competitor.

Get the fuck out of here, national haters.  You're gonna be miserable over the next decade, watch.

Yep. Let him do what he wants as long as his play is good and it doesn’t result in a penalty. If it does, hope it’s vs OU as we’re curb stomping them.

You don't think wins over Michigan and Auburn are better than San Jose, UTEP, and Sam?

They are, but in neither instance did OU put either team to the sword (and both opponents have also played tight games with the Baylors and Nebraskas of the world).  So they are better wins but not "holy shit wins.

Yes I did, I read this sentence from Biff:

"I understand Mateer has 2 more "good" wins, so I guess that's why he's getting more hype right now (plus Arch shitting the bed for 2 out of 4 games), but just found it surprising.  "

Not sure why it would be surprising Mateer would be getting more praise for beating those two teams, but it wouldn't be the first thing I don't understand.
