They’ve got the  Gig ‘‘‘em thing down pat.

meanwhile…ignore the clickbait title,  because she chose not to leave the car for fear of damaging it, and just check out the software update stuff.  A wonderful process.

Tesla Model 3 Traps TikToker Inside 115-Degree Car During A Software Update

Quote

According to the Tesla owner’s manual, “Vehicle functions, including some safety systems and opening or closing the doors or windows, may be limited or disabled when installation is in progress and you could damage the vehicle.” Janel chose to heed Tesla’s warning and did not attempt to open her doors or windows during the installation process for fear of damaging her vehicle, but this seems like a very dangerous oversight on Tesla’s part that she was able to be stuck inside at all.

Quote

The door mechanisms on the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are electrically operated, and under normal circumstances are opened from the inside using a simple button to unlatch the door. Should the vehicle have no power, these models do have auxiliary manual cable release levers also found on the door panel, but Tesla warns against using the manual mechanism, citing that it should only be used when the car has no power. Janel said she was aware of this option but didn’t want to risk damaging her car, and she felt confident that she could stick out the heat.

Quote

In contrast to Tesla’s potentially dangerous warnings, Lucid Motors requires all occupants to exit the vehicle before the installation process begins, and the Lucid Air owners manual states that owners will not be able to lock or unlock the doors during an update. The Air will start a two-minute countdown when an owner chooses to install an update, giving them enough time to get out prior to the update beginning.

Quote

The Tesla owners manual states that the car will not initiate a software update if Keep Climate mode, Dog Mode, Sentry Mode or Camp Mode are engaged, but it fails to require vehicle occupants to exit the vehicle before the debilitating installation process begins. Tesla also recommends owners install software updates as soon as possible, which could cause some owners to feel obligated to initiate an update in a compromised environment.

Saw one around lunchtime at the Rudy’s on North Lamar, and they had two paddle boards in the back, sticking out 3-4 feet.  They started to park up against Rudy’s but somebody pointed out that their boards will get smashed by other vehicles driving through the parking lot.  So they back into a spot up against the sidewalk with the boards blocking the sidewalk, like complete douchebags.

You don’t realize how small the “bed” is until you see something like that. I’m actually surprised they didn’t lose the boards, as much as they were sticking out.

Doesn’t it open up like a Chevrolet Avalanche, or did they scrap that design at some point?

"Be A Steamed" what? Ham? Hotdog bun? Post-shower bathroom mirror?

When you're done insulting your neighbor for all of the obvious reasons, make sure you undermine the legibility of the license plate just to take him down another notch or two.

Pretty sure it’s B3ESTMD “beastmode” and I thought it was in this thread already before the orange wrap was added, but haven’t found it. Still ugly.

Sonny, beast mode is the greatest thing in the world, except for a nice MLT — mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, when the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato is ripe. They’re so perky. I love that. But that’s not what he said — he distinctly said “beastiality minded,” and as we all know, “bestiality minded” means to rape animals, heh? So you were probably playing cards, and he aggyed–

Back in the 90's I met a chick online. We scheduled a time to meet and when she drove up and got out, I drove off.

Later she messaged me on ICQ asking why I suddenly left. My reply "you have a Mossimo sticker on the back of your back car."

Truthfully, she was chunkier than expected and had a Mossimo sticker which pushed her over the edge.

https://www.pcmag.com/news/tesla-s-full-self-driving-subscription-is-now-half-price

Quote

Tesla's Full Self-Driving Subscription Gets a Big Price Cut. The move comes shortly after the company started requiring new buyers to get an on-the-road demo of FSD before taking ownership of their vehicles.

Tesla is making it more affordable to take advantage of its vehicles' full self-driving capabilities. The company is knocking $100 off the cost of a monthly subscription for the feature, taking it from $199 to $99 a month.  Tesla officially announced the price change on X Friday.

Quote

Last month, the company announced it would be installing and enabling Tesla’s full self-driving (FSD) feature on every new electric car it sells and showing drivers how to use the feature before they leave the dealership.

After their test-drive, buyers will have to pay for the feature in order to keep using it. Musk also recently announced that “significant improvements” are coming to FSD every two weeks moving forward, with promises it will be “shining bright” by the end of this month or early May.

You can also still pay the $15,000 or whatever rather than the monthly sub, but the full price is only for that vehicle (FSD license attached to the car) and does not transfer.

Tesla Cybertruck Deliveries Reportedly Halted

FacebookTwitterLinkedIn

Tesla (TSLA) has halted Cybertruck deliveries, according to social media chatter, possibly to address a problem with the accelerator pedal.

In recent days, forums dedicated to the Tesla Cybertruck had several posters saying their upcoming deliveries were delayed or canceled.

Others had complained about the accelerator pedal getting stuck.

Tesla does not have a media relations department, and often doesn't disclose key news to the public.

However, on Saturday, noted Tesla influencer @wholemarsblog wrote on Elon Musk's X that "Tesla has stopped all Cybertruck deliveries for 7 days due to an issue with the accelerator pedal."

A relatively high number of initial Cybertrucks delivered have broken down and required service, sometimes after just a handful of miles.

Meanwhile, Tesla has told Cybertruck production workers at the Austin factory that their shifts will be slightly shorter as of Monday. That's according to Business Insider, citing an internal memo.

It's unclear if that's a temporary move as Tesla works to address issues affecting deliveries, or if it's a long-term move due to demand.

Tesla slowed Shanghai production substantially starting in March.

Tesla's Fremont plant is still struggling to ramp up production of the updated "Highland" Model 3, with deliveries still being pushed back weeks or months.

FSD Subscription Rate Halved

Late Friday, Tesla cut the subscription priceof Supervised Full Self-Driving to $99 a month from $199. At that lower rate, it would take 10 years to reach the current $12,000 price tag for buying FSD.

On Saturday, Tesla abruptly halted its latest FSD free transfer to another vehicle.

Shares fell 2% to 171.05 in Friday's stock market trading. TSLA stock gained 3.7% for the week, buoyed by Musk's promise of a robotaxi unveiling on Aug. 8.

Electrek’s Take

The only new model in Tesla’s lineup doesn’t have sufficient demand to run all the shifts? That’s very troubling but not surprising. I guess the decision to launch an $80,000-120,000 niche truck that’s worst in class in every regard except acceleration wasn’t the best plan. Maybe instead they should’ve been focusing on drastically improving the core lineup and adding additional models that would be easier to produce and potentially sell in the hundreds of thousands to a million units per annum. If the decision to can the $25,000 car in exchange for a “robotaxi” is even the least bit true the future of Tesla looks bleak. Robotaxis are years and years away not only due to their technical challenges that are so far from being solved but also due to government approvals and the market’s acceptance of such a product.

Maybe Elon will also learn that the anti-vax anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists he’s trying to be buddy-buddy with on Twitter aren’t exactly the EV buying type either. All he’s doing is turning off the people that actually have and would buy a Tesla. Elon needs to go. It would be best if he left on his own but that’s extremely unlikely to happen. The board is full of Elon apologists but maybe if they see their portfolio crashing that will motivate them to make a move they otherwise wouldn’t have done on a moral or ethical basis.

That guy was really proud of his calmness and quick thinking of…applying the brake.

In the recall story the brake was non responsive while the accelerator was pegged with no input. The accelerator pedal doing a RUD is a separate issue
