He's going to fire Powell. Powell dared to fact check him about the Fed building renovations that the idiots on the right are trying to use to justify firing Powell. You want to watch the economy implode, that's the point it will happen. He's such a fucking idiot toddler.

A country's central bank being beholden to the whims of political  garbage is the number one thing that kills confidence in investing in that country. Dollars will fly out and the Euro will get a massive influx if this happens.

Well, yeah. For injecting the adenochrome harvested from the sex trafficked kids by Epstein and Podesta in the pizza basement.

A few years back one of my engineers gave me a ride to my hotel, and he was listening to a podcast about that.

My discomfort started when it took him 15 minutes to clean out enough trash from the passenger side of his minivan for me to sit down.

Then the podcast made me contemplate one of those stuntman dives from a moving car where I hit the pavement just right and roll to avoid injury, but I was wearing a really nice suit.

Later, after taking disability, he confided to me that he had ideated walking into our office with an AR and spraying down everyone in a hail of 5.56.

Correct, and Powell told him as much when he first mentioned this bullshit in like February. The goal is to put enough pressure on Powell to get him to resign. I don’t think it will work.

Yeah, about that.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday cleared the way for the Trump administration to remove three of the five members of the Consumer Product Safety Commission from office while their challenges to their firings continue.

Challenge time is turnip time in Calvinball. Challenge is totally legit, despite the statute that protects those officers from executive termination. Again, Calvinball. Also known as wiping one’s SCOTUS ass with their oath of office. An impeachable offense, the gravest, IMO.

He can't without cause....which is why he's all the sudden poking his nose in the Fed's construction project. He's trying to create some bullshit project mis-management/budget overrun "cause" to fire him.

Here’s how you throw down: he fires you….and you don’t leave. Stay. Continue performing the duties of the office. Defy the fake president issuing illegal orders. Just say “nope.”

Exactly this. That’s why he was there with his dumb hardhat and why Powell challenged him.

Probably been mentioned but one of the reasons it’s over budget is because of Trump-requested/required extravagances.

i am not sure what the exact scope is and I assume the Fed Reserve building is old and probably has a lot of problems, but a construction cost of 2.7 billion dollars for a renovation project is pretty gonzo.

but good on Powell for calling out Trump on the 400 million dollar error.

The building’s foundations are sinking into a subterranean creek under the building and it’s basically all asbestos and lead.  There is no parking, so they had to put it underground, which is standard in dc since we have building height limits. Covid and inflation has made it super expensive.

All the other gov buildings were built in the 60s-70s and are nearish to code, or got overhauled in the 80s-90s. The fed is over 100 years old and has never been overhauled/brought to standard.  If it were anything else, it would be a tear down.

Not replying to you Bates.

They're not wearing PPE.  They're wearing a hard hat for show.  PPE is hardhat (now pretty much unversially required with chin straps), safey vest, safety glasses, gloves and hard toed boots.

I don’t disagree it’s spiraled out of control. They are basically building an entirely new building, inside the shell of two existing buildings. It probably should have been torn down and started from scratch. But then everyone would complain about design and historic character.

FWIW, the overhaul of one of the House  congressional buildings is probably going to be close to a billion once all said and done. And it didn’t require a full foundation overhaul and addition of a multi story below ground garage:

Tl;dr: it’s over budget and doing historic renovations in  swamp in DC is expensive as fuck.

It's more than that.  The way our government works is that if they build from scratch funds are more limited.  If they are rehabbing a building they can keep going back to the well for more funds.

I was involved in the Homeland Security headquarters project way back when after 9/11 when they took the old St. Elizabeth's Hospital (mental institution) and rehabbed it.  Cost overruns everywhere but the government paid.
