can we the people file a class action lawsuit against the president? restraining order? anything?

I think we had the electoral equivalent of that last November.

We lost.

However, whilst playing whist at The Club, I will sometimes pointedly ‘harumph’ when someone makes a point I find distasteful.

Brisket was correct when he said the GQP abandoned the Rule of Law for the Rule of the Gun.

-- Biden administration and Democrats never understood this and let Trump of the hook despite Jan. 6 attempted overthrow and the conclusive evidence of the Jan 6 hearings.

The other failure is this: What philosopher Karl Popper called the "Paradox of Tolerance."

The tolerant can only tolerate the IN-tolerant so long. If they let the intolerant in power, the intolerant will eventually rule, dominate, and eliminate tolerance and the tolerant. That's why the tolerant must not let the intolerant anywhere near the levers of power.

Society, the media, liberals, and the Dems never understood this, thus they tolerated (and enabled, normalized)Trump and the intolerant so long that the intolerant now rule.

This will not end with some kind of fair election and a peaceful transfer of power back to the tolerant.

The intolerant will not surrender peacefully.

Will. Not. Happen.

"The tolerant Left", code for we can be as big of shitbags as we want but the second you turn it back on us then we will cry and whine about how mean that is.

Everyone should read this piece, it's the perfect and plain rebuttal to the "so much for the tolerant left" whining from the fascist fuckholes: https://medium.com/extra-extra/tolerance-is-not-a-moral-precept-1af7007d6376

  Quote

Tolerance is not a moral absolute; it is a peace treaty. Tolerance is a social norm because it allows different people to live side-by-side without being at each other’s throats. It means that we accept that people may be different from us, in their customs, in their behavior, in their dress, in their sex lives, and that if this doesn’t directly affect our lives, it is none of our business. But the model of a peace treaty differs from the model of a moral precept in one simple way: the protection of a peace treaty only extends to those willing to abide by its terms. It is an agreement to live in peace, not an agreement to be peaceful no matter the conduct of others. A peace treaty is not a suicide pact.

TLDR; you do not get to preach intolerance at every turn, and then demand tolerance for your intolerant views and actions.  You have opted out of the compact, so you don't get to invoke it.

the last line TLDR is how I feel seeing futureman and 52-80 chirp for unintentionally misgendering (I think?) the Minnisota mass shooter. They're just trolling looking for a response, using a subject that they're actively cheering on getting worse

Saw a clip earlier of Dotard saying "I can do whatever I want. I'm the president."

I swear there used to be a huge percentage of our population who were horrified at the prospect of this happening. It's like all they talked about. I wonder where they went.

They never went back.

Have one consistent message around the economy. Hammer that message home over and over again.

What’s the message specifically? Who’s the messenger? Who’s the target audience? What’s the medium to reach them?

Its easy to say what you said. Just have a message and hammer it home over and over again. Easy peasy, right? Just find the magic bullet and fire it. The problem seems easy to solve when you put it that way. But there’s a big problem if you can’t settle on one message, can’t reach the audience who needs to hear it, and won’t convince them if you do.

Not saying it’s easy. But rather than Guinness world record speeches I would prefer a strategic, consistent message around economy: show a average grocery trip to wal-mart that highlights eggs, milk, ground beef etc, show plans for AI to gut entry level jobs and track how tech companies are lining Trump’s pocket. Make message “Idiocracy-esque” in simplicity and hammer it home.

I don’t see where empty theatrical gestures do anything ultimately.

What do they have to do?

Give people hope that they can prevail. That means the times for words and legal maneuvering on their own are over....you've been completely flanked there.  You have to agitate, be willing to get arrested, push the opposition's buttons so that they tighten their grip even more, etc.

Why would any middle-class person, etc, in America stick their neck out right now and risk it all just to get tossed aside in some one-off move that meant nothing?  Most people don't want to fight and lose out there on their own.

Instead, they made some speeches and ran away.

The billionaires and their crooks stole your money, destroyed your jobs, and stole your future.  Donald Trump used YOUR White House to get $10 billion richer, while you got poorer.  He stole all that money from you.  And [whichever candidate you're running against here] helped him, and smiled while he did it.  America got poorer, and further in debt, while Donald Trump fucked you over and got richer.  Enough.

Don't vote for someone who smiles while they steal from you.  Vote for someone who will go in spitting mad and fight for you.  Enough bullshit.  Enough theft.  More fight.  I'm here to fuck shit up.  And I won't stop till the fucking thieves are on the floor with a bloody nose asking for mercy.  And we won't give it to them, because they didn't fucking give it to us while they fucked us over.

Every candidate needs to repeat some version of that everywhere.  Online, signs, interviews, podcasts, when they are ordering a fucking coffee at a cafe.  Everywhere.  Constantly.  On repeat.  Shorthand is "No more billionaires and thieves taking what's yours.  I'll fight the billionaires and thieves for you and get it all back.  Every penny."

It doesn't have to be true, be tied to real numbers, any of that shit.  It needs to be truthy enough, and inflammatory as hell.

Violence.   That's what it will take.  Violence and a shit-ton of dead Americans.

But this.  Always this.  We crossed the rubicon a while back.  A violent and bloody outcome is an inevitability.  Once one side has opted out of the Rule of Law and into the Rule of the Gun/Force, it's over.  We've lost, no matter how you cut it, because a Republic "saved" by bloody strife isn't saved at all.

JD Vance's bizarre "I'm ready to be president" statement just 200 days into Trump's term is interesting to say the least, especially since many of us think Trump has no intention of stepping aside in 2028 if he's still above ground.
